As someone who has had therapy from a licensed psychologist, I don’t understand how Harry can be qualified to give important help if he consistently blames others for his issues rather than looking into himself and how he can get healthy.

    • @christinejoy3030
      @christinejoy3030 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Exactly. He said in the Oprah interview that he was ashamed to ask for help for his supposedly suicidal wife. Then went on to blame his family for not helping them!! How could they help if he didn’t tell them? Yet this is the man who is chief impact officer for Better Up. Harry and his wife are charlatans out to make billions by passing themselves off as humanitarians, who cannot even get along with their own families.

BetterUp is to be blamed for any serious consequences because they appointed this ginger prince and gave him the right to coach others when he clearly needs help himself.

Funny you should say this as years ago while suffering severe depression and PTSD my therapist asked me why I was there. @@messengeroftruth17 for some things, that might be true, but also you shouldn’t expect your family or friends to be your only help through serious mental problems. I knew a self-proclaimed “life coach.” She was living an easy life, knew how to get hired as a manager but not how to keep a job, and that was not a problem because her husband was very wealthy and hard-working. Life coach work gave her reassurance of her belief that she was doing better than others because she WAS better. Over a few years, she had a few clients who assumed her higher/end life style meant she knew how to succeed. If you need a therapist, hire a licensed therapist who has the education and training and is bound by ethical and legal standards. If you want to feed the ego of a privileged person who wants to play therapist at your expense without becoming credentialed, hire a life coach.

I fully agree . The guy got problems himself . Being in the military it was a good life experience for him to get over his mother's loss . But he is too weak and sensible to deal with mental health issues now. He is not made for that and his wife is pushing him deeper an deeper into these kind of choices. I think he needs a good mental counsellor or coach himself . His life choices were not good at all they were very poor. He is not able to pull himself out of it and he got no wisdom at all. He cannot train or coach people , He never attended a Medical University himself or any speciality in psychology or psychiatric field. He turned his back to his Grand Mother Her Majesty the Queen and to his whole Family and friends. This guy got mental dysfunctional issues himself. He is not a self made man who achieved success with his own means willing to share and coach others about how to be a successful man . He lives from inheritance . He is Unreliable , vulnerable and a weak person . We can see how he behaved with his family and his own brother and sister in low and his friends in UK and people who cared for him and loved him . They were also sending letters to outlets saying that allowing people to criticize to them online was damaging their so-important, “charitable” work, acting like he’s so much more important than others he shouldn’t even be criticized. It’s much different other places. In the UK, you can go to jail if you offend someone in the wrong group and they perceive what you said or did as hateful, or for things like offensive Facebook posts.. Exactly this. I remember first hearing the term “life coach” as a legit job title I was shocked, amused, and disgusted all at the same time. As always though, I try to keep an open mind even if my brain is signaling nonsense. An open mind can help us see the other persons perspective, or even sway our own. In the case of “life coaching”, despite trying to be more inviting to the idea of it being a profession, and more sensitive to the ppl who claim to need it… I still feel the same disgust towards it.
I was raised poor, and after 2020 job losses, I’m back to being broke again. I see ppl who need life coaching as being part of a privileged class. A group of ppl with too much time and money on their hands, paired with no sense of purpose or direction. I see life coaches themselves as having the same issues; no real direction or purpose and usually from a life of excess or privilege. The title of life coach just bumps them up to a higher bracket of superiority lol.
That’s why I think you’re probably on to something here, which would explain why those who have called upon a life coach, often want to “graduate” to life coaching themselves. Narcissistic feedback loop maybe? Lol

@@dlxmarks idk I sat in a many of counselor offices in HS lol. I truly didn’t understand what their job was until I found out my close aunt was also a HS counselor.
The general public (myself included) see them as a therapist for the troubled kids. They really just seem to be used to schedule classes, coordinate things such as Jr ROTC, pre college classes for students, scholarship info, college entrance stuff, military ASVAB, etc. They are there to council students and direct them to their best possible course of action based on the students aspirations. It wasn’t until I was qualified to see the school psychologist that I realized “school counselor” was not synonymous with “therapist”. I can totally believe this happened. The idea of a life coach sounds great, and I can completely understand the drive to help others; but, as said in a previous comment, there isn't really a governing body to define life coaching, like a board of medicine or nursing, so accountability is severely lacking. I'm a behavioral health nurse having worked with many traumatized, depressed and anxious people. Shouldn't I be qualified to give advice or coaching to others with the same problems? Not really. Imo, even social workers are not qualified to administer therapy, though social workers can legally be hired as counselors or establish their own counseling practice. Coaching, counseling, therapy, call it what you will, requires lengthy, specialized training. It is in no way just "giving advice", though many people think advice is what they need when searching for a coach, therapist, counselor. A therapist is trained to guide someone through a process of finding his or her own answers instead of just telling that person what to do (advice giving). There's a reason they are called therapists and not advisors.

I do think a lot of people out there do not take life coaches less seriously than trained psychologists or mental health professionals that that is truly scary.

Great and amusing analysis of coaching. Unfortunately, people with problems often can’t afford therapy, which, if one doesn’t have insurance, can be prohibitively expensive. Also, many therapists fall far short of the complex skills, insight, and compassion needed to be effective. I’m not saying that that means they should go to a personal coach, I’m just expressing my distress over the fact that many people who need help are not able to get it. As an English man and a Royalist who has followed the monarchy all my life my take on this is quite simple. Born as what is known as "The Spare" to "The Heir" when he left the army which he loved, he could find no purpose being a member of an ancient institution. Meeting a middling actress who could see the personal advantage of a title he fell for her charm and good looks. However finding the monarchy was far from actors playing a role and acting "normally "off camera , she became disillusioned at having to live within the restraints and convinced him to leave this restrictive life to be able to find his "True" calling in the same way his mother had. Maybe she even thought she could become asbeloved world wide as Princess Diana. Their endeavours so far seem to have been viewed as spilling family secrets for money and Harry being blinded by the the interest in his title. Companies and individuals are using him like PT Barnham would have used John Merrick had he bought him over to the USA in the 19th century. His wife is in her element as she is used to being in the spotlight and has garnered more popularity than if she had won an Oscar or two. He also seems to have the impression that he is punching above his weight married to a beautiful actress and accepts her advice and seeks her assurance every step of the way.
However he was not educated as any normal person would be. Royals of his level are there to serve their country from birth until death, it's an outdated but undeniable truth. He has shown up his naivety, lack of understanding and his born arrogance in such a way as to damage himself and maybe in the long-term the monarchy itself. In all honesty I can't see this ending happily for him, his wife or their children.

I met Harry in a pub in Earls Court Road in 2009. It was near closing time that an entourage of casual but well-dressed men began to filter into the pub and a few minutes later he came in and soon he had a pint in his hand. I don't think many people noticed him and those who did left him alone. I proceeded to leave at closing time and on my way out approached him and introduced myself as a London Australian, shaking his hand and wishing him well. It was all very brief. I later felt that I should have left him alone too.

I have never been a fan of most of the recent members of the British monarchy but for the most part I did not really care ( I am from Germany) but since she came into the picture even I have started defending them. I am older and I remember how the press even in Germany attacked Kate for alledgley trying to get a prince no matter what it took, like being cheated on and William not wanting her etc etc..Not once did she complain to the Press or showed the struggles she had. That is why the public perception of her changed, by the couple working hard in the " jobs" and " positions" that life has determined for them.Trying to see it as a privilege. Markle is such a stereotype of a superficial, unthankful , disrespectful, greedy " new rich" ( that's how we call it if one translates it word by word😁) that it's hard to believe that someone fitting the meaning of that German term so perfectly, really exists .People have given Harry a pass for his displays of immaturity in his past because it was in a - refreshing , childlike way compared to Charles for example and he is not the successor anyways, who in contrast fulfills his role and married a woman who trys to support him in any way she can.But now it is open for anyone to see that thanks to the other members his character trades were softened and covered and he tried to do his part.."The duchess" boosts these traits and uses his trauma to milk him and secure her financial status and need for public attention that would have eventually decreased as a soap opera actress with growing age..Terrible that he doesn't see at his age that it's all a big money scheme starting with his wife and the whole "industry" blowing steam up his behind to make money and then once he served their purpose or better said doesn't anymore , both Meghan and the companies move on to squeeze next person. His kids will probably be next ...

Thanks for covering this topic. As someone who experience severe abuse as a child I have gone through several approaches in educating myself to self help. Unfortunately, I stepped off the path to healing a couple years ago and went for life coaching. Within 3 years I’d spend a huge amount of money and became completely confused in self responsibly for drawing my stepfather to abuse me and beyond. Long story short, I recovered with help of my former psychiatrist and a certified ptsd theraptist with the same office and my meds are fine now and lower than before. Please people get qualified mental health help just as you would have a broken arm set by a qualified physician. I think it boarders on criminal for “life coaches“ to advise unsuspecting innocent people in ways that put guilt, shame and mental anguish on their plates without any care or responsibility of harming them emotionally. How these people face themselves in the mirror is beyond me. My life coach is probably famous but I found has only a high school education and has natural ability in sales rather than caring to heal broken lives.

It is one of my greatest frustrations as a psychotherapist (who has spent many years and dollars qualifying to be a professional practicing legally and ethically) to have clients come to me after spending thousands (charging far more than psychotherapists in my area charge) on "trauma life coaches" to deal with complex trauma. The encroachment of "life coaches" into the field of mental health is an insidious erosion of the gravitas that is required to treat addiction and mental illness. If I could report these fraudulent and unqualified "coaches" for practicing beyond their scope of competence I would, but they have NO governing body. They aren't required to have an education, licensing, registration, supervision or have malpractice insurance. That should be a red flag to anyone tempted to find a cheer leader who dabbles in "helping people".

Many families and, therefore family members, are a hot mess. I agree that it would be amazing for family members to serve theses roles and provide this support, but for many, it’s not an option. Family members can be hurtful and cause harm. This is a sad but true fact. If that’s not you, count your blessings.

The new trend is for people who are having issues (millennials approaching 40) to disengage completely from their parents and grandparents. I have actually read lines on 'self-help' websites that state 'Your parents chose to have you. It was their responsibility to ensure you had a happy life.' If you are unhappy as you approach middle age, it is all due to the emotional abuse you suffered as a child. Emotional abuse being anything that made you feel bad. Emotional abuse is parents not understanding or knowing the true intentions of your 5 year old self. Not only are you encouraged to cut your aging parents/grandparents out of your life, but you are told it is not up to you to reconcile with them. 'Even though you are an adult, you are still the child and they are still the parent, and therefore the parent must take complete responsibility in making amends for your toxic childhood.' You know.......when daddy told you to shut up and sit down and eat your peas. Ruined you for life. The endgame is that the millennial will never have to worry about taking care of their elders in later years. Signed, Master Certified Life Coach.

Harry was not only born to a life of privilege, he was born to a life of duty. He wants to use his title to Garner celebrity friends and business contacts, however, he doesn't want to abide by the rules of the royal family. Harry, in my opinion, is a sloped brat who is nothing more than a narcissistic attention seeker. He complained about racism within the royal household, yet he actually went to a party dressed in a Nazi uniform. The best thing anyone can do for him, is to ignore him. Perhaps then, he might actually get a real job.

Do you think it is Harry who is the narc or Meghan? Before Harry married Meghan I don't think he behaved like this. After he married her I think he largely fell in with her behaviours. At the wedding Harry had his family and friends on his side. Meghan had celebrity "friends" and business contacts whom she barely knew on her side. Other than her mother she didn't have a single close personal friend or relation there (except for some Canadian woman who she has now split from and doesn't speak to).

In my area of the world, "Life Coaches" are mostly people that went to school for mental health counseling but couldn't pass certification tests. Or, they formerly worked as a mental health counselor but had their license taken away. Or, they dropped out of school before graduating and know a little bit about counseling. Also, the whole frequency waves/alternative meds/magical thinking/apothecary and essential oils seems to be included.

I completed a life coaching course, and realized without that this could be so dangerous getting people to go back into there trauma when you have no idea of what may come up and then know where to take it unless you have a full qualification in psychology or counseling. I discussed it with one student who was a very successful business person, which was where he was taking his coaching, he didn’t want to go anywhere near mental health, and he agreed with me, such a dangerous game for people who have no background on mental health. There were no boundaries, they said you only need to be a page ahead of the person your coaching.

      Jill, you are 100% right!
I worked with a life coach who tried to help me to solve some of my problems , also those connected with my past trauma. And what happened was exactly what you've mentioned... she opened the Pandora's box inside my mind. And then, seeing its impact, she immediately withdrawn from helping me. She left me with huge PTSD symptoms, some of them were very scary and I needed to consult a cardiologist, because I feared I might be in a risk of heart attack or something similar. It took my nervous system like 4-5 months to become more "stabilized".
This is exactly what happens, when unqualified people try to "help" you. A life coach should NEVER EVER try to fix anyone's trauma by discussing reasons/causes/ memories of trauma and try to reframe it. Life coach can teach you how to manage your calendar better, how to have more motivation, how to find your strength and good sides, but please, people, don't let anyone to analyze your trauma. This is a job for a trauma therapist, which is someone deeply professionally educated in mental health.

Brings back many fond and funny memories from socializing with folks of this ilk.
One jaw-dropping experience was hanging out with a fellow mom of a 5-year-old kid. We're out enjoying a sunny day at the park with our kids. Her son finds a nickel on the ground. He's having his "Oh, wow!" moment. The mom becomes overjoyed as this teachable-moment unfolds, and excitedly exclaims: "Look what the universe gave you!!"

I believe that Harry irrespective of privilege, pomp and glory had many challenges while having a mother who was desperately unhappy in the triangle of Charles and Camilla. Then losing his mother in such a tragic and sudden way must have been very traumatic. In addition, having to contain all those emotions with a stiff British upper lip at 12 yrs old.
Yet. I don't believe that this certifies him to become a Master Life Coach and mess with other individuals' mental health when he himself isn't stable or particularly clear where he stands in relation to himself and his family. A royally sad state of affairs.
