    Im an engineer for these. The first software version you tried was a data pack version, the machine was looking for a data pack which was not present so it alarmed. A data pack is an optional extra device that plugs into the MPU that captures a record of all machine activities such as payouts, cash in/out, times and dates on, times when doors were opened, alarm codes etc and is required by some brewery chains in the UK but the vast majority of machines are run in non data mode as it’s not required for most sites in fact I’ve never seen it used myself. The non date software must be selected if a data capture device is not used. Both data and non data software were always available side by side for every machine software release version number in the manufacturer’s software library’s. There were often 3 or 4 updates to do for these machines over the machines first couple years from new as they tweaked things.

    • @danisaac
      @danisaac 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +19

      @@Nobe_Oddy I didn’t see how many files he had on the USB but it’s likely he may of downloaded the whole machine history library from somewhere. There could have been 2 or 3 updates as well as version 1.0 all in data pack and non data pack versions so that would be 8 files there. I’m not sure about this machine but sometimes they would also release special ‘arcade’ versions too that had different profiles like bigger streaks. And operators specific profiles.
      For home use some people like to deliberately install older versions as they had program errors that had exploits, manipulations, emptiers etc that they want to try out for themselves.
      In the company I work for commercial use we would only keep the latest non data pack version on our system but some people collected the whole library of software releases for many different machines.

      There are programs for emulating "fruit machines" like the famous MAME program for arcade games. BFM, JPeMU, MFME etc. All these emulators use the original "roms". Steve download archive that has 36 Giga ? Of course, he didn't download everything, but he knows the name of the device, so only the program for it.

    That is an insane deal and I'm insanely jealous.... I have a Batman Dark Knight machine which is in great condition - I paid about £300! (It is 2016 mind). £20? Awesome!! Note Acceptors are notoriously difficult to setup. You could see about a proper guide, but you probably don't need to bother TBH. Anyway, great find!!
    Oh One other thing. You should have a topup key. Turn that while in anything other than a feature mode and it should be in topup mode - this is how you fill the machine with coins, through the coin slot, otherwise it won't know how many coins are acrtually in the hopper. And finally, the first coin you drop after a cold reboot will always fall through - this is to prime the coin mech ready to accept coins.

    Used to work at casinos here in the US. The different firmware versions add and remove various features like networked jackpots which is likely why the first firmware you tried was complaining about the data port; it was probably trying to communicate with other machines to figure out what the current jackpot was and the like.

    This gives me such nostalgia. I was 15/16 and randomly bought a fruit machine. I can date it as it used the recently demonetised 10p - and Midland bank sold me some OLD 10ps so I could use it. (I wonder if they were even allowed to do that, but they did bless them.) And somehow I soldered stuff up and fixed light bulbs and that gave me such satisfaction. Watching your channel really tapped into that teenage me that fixed that fruit machine, so this video is great.

    The firmware versions sometimes patch out glitches, exploits/traps, and emptiers. I had no idea emptiers existed back in the 90s when I used to play fruit machines regularly, so seeing a bunch of them explained on TH-cam was quite an eye-opener. I know there were a few methods on various £70 "Deal or no Deal" type machines, but I've never seen that particular machine that you have before.

    • @danisaac
      @danisaac 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Barcrest never got it right in the £70 era! 😂 loads of theirs had exploits that they struggled to patch properly without completely ruining the game for casual players. I remember getting an Alien back at the workshop that ‘had issues’ on site thought I’d play it for a laugh to see where it was at and it wanted £80 for a board it had been so badly forced into a corner it couldn’t gets its self out of. Sometimes they would sort of crash because the software would lock up when it knew it was miles over target percentage lol.

    • @TheRealDJSigma
      @TheRealDJSigma 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Another amusing video - and succesful. A couple of points about fixing things:-
    1. Superglue and baking powder are is an excellent way of strengthening broken posts etc.
    2. I haven't seen you finding short circuited components just by sloshing IPA on the circuit board and applying a current limited power supply. I applied 1 amp and found the culprit immediately.
    3. I learned the hard way to identify a component before removing it from the pcb. Once removed, they are snatched by goblins and never seen again

      These machines are called flickers by professional gamblers. You can take all the value out by credit rotation method. It doesn't matter what state this is in. When they have note changers etc, dropping down the back isn't really relevant. You put £9 in, if it gives a board before 7/8 you add another 28, making it 35, play that off on 50p. Play the deal or no deal board after it's had the 35. It's gauranteed to give 35 minimum, but usually will be 70 or a deal between 35 and 70, repeat and rinse til it gives you a 35 box, then switch it down to 25p and it will give you 1 or 2 repeats on the 35 box which switched to 6/8 when you change down the stakes. Good little earners. 40/50 mostly. Cannot lose machines these for pros. 100s of these and there clones about, was epic

I spent ages trying to figure out what was wrong with it, even managed to get in touch with the manufacturer. It seems most likely that the battery had leaked and damaged the motherboard. Never could fix it, ended up selling it as a non functional item in the end. I still miss that machine. Saw a guy in Wolverhampton casino, he had won the £1000 jackpot, later we saw him putting it back in the machine, with many empty pint glasses next to him.

    I bought a faulty monopoly machine and the biggest headache I have nowadays is the stupid amount of bulbs the little 286 and 501 type... Everytime it's powered up I end up replacing a few bulbs... Keeps me busy.. Walking round all day in an arcade changing bulbs I can imagine becomes mind numbing :(

    Hi Steve it seems you can have the software for the upgrade on your nv10 from MAGGI Electronics via USB with step by step instructions I believe this is a paid service not as much as a replacement, and Y is your software as this represents standard, the other is Data which we used a data connection to monitor any fraudulent activity and would alarm 7.1.

    The first software needed an EDC unit for collections, which stores all the information. Note accepter means you need more £ coins in the hopper before it will work.

    When ever they went wrong at Gala we called Leisure link. When it was MPU related it was a pain. They had to order them in case by case issue as even the on call engineers where not allowed to do any thing. Most likely to keep the smoke & mirrors for how the percentage was run, even when you know what it is. Though this is more a pub/chippy type unit then bingo hall/casino ones.

    Looking at that first alarm for no dataport comm, I noticed there is a dataport on the control unit - I'd imangine the boot rom you flashed was for diagnostics and needs external data port connected - looks like a DB5 serial potentially so if tht's the case, hook it up to a USB DB 9/25 serial port there error is most likely missing a serial handshake

    • @introaether937
      @introaether937 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The data port was a connected device to log the machines data. See the top comment here.

    I can proudly say I caused this error multiple times on a gambling machine called pharaohs gold where you had to shoot targets using a physical crossbow. I'm a naturally good shot and I learned how to regularly play for the jackpot. When you do you play a skill shot for the win, it moves really fast but it's real skill, lower amounts are slower but there's a noticeable delay after you pull the trigger. Anyway I won't the jackpot twice in one day sometime and had to go and see the desk haha they paid me the next day. Sadly I haven't seen the machine in ages and I'm always on the lookout for it. Must have won nearly a grand from it if not more.

    I had a Crown Jester machine once I got from an arcade in Skegness. The owner was selling off old machines to make room for new ones. It worked fine for a few years then the Mars coin mech failed and I had no way to replace it ( we're talking quite a few years ago before the internet was full of info and goodies ) so I had to play on tokens. Then the machine decided to fail the EPROM that was on the motherboard and the machine was officially dead after that. Even if I had access to the rom, back then I would not be able to cheaply afford the equipment to program a new EPROM let alone have a computer to do it on as all I had then was my Amiga 1200 and no internet LOL Fascinating things and the evolution of these machines. My machine was all on one board with a lot of logic chips and several ROMS for the lights, sound etc.. When I was a kid in the 80's my sister and her boyfriend bought a machine from god knows where and that one was all mechanical logic. A motor would turn a ticker and the ticks coincided with the lights and also controlled the wheels. From the outside it looked quite modern, all lights, nudges etc but inside was more like a pin ball machine for its workings.
    I think with these things they are best off in the hands of experts that know them inside out or someone with a friend who knows how.
    Pretty sure there is also a law in the UK with high stake machines that you need a gambling licence to buy them new, don't quote me on that though because there is a thin line between 'for the home' and 'ask no questions' lol
    For me personally, I only want one just to watch its light show ha ha ha :D
