Seeing the coffins in great shape, after 100 years , gave a great sense of peace to the whole graveyard. 1700s stone still readable amazing! Thanks Sue for taking a 2 hour trip to bring this to us💕

Amazing video. Such a lovely place. I find it just beautiful the see. An old saying here said , i will then die when nobody speaks my name anymore. You just reading the names of the departed make them live again. Thank for this lovely video. Indeed worth a 2 hour drive❤

Very rare to see no damage at all
I don't think I have ever seen a masoleum in such a clean state as this one. It's as if it was closed only a year ago and a very light dust has barely settled on the coffins. The coffins are in their own incredible condition. They look like polished oak caskets with beautiful handmade brass fittings. The China flowers and wreaths still looked very presentable. There was so little decay. The walls, floor and the inside roof looked swept up and neat. Normally if the outside has so much moss and overgrowth on top you would see it on the inside and that hasn't touched the inside at all. It also appears that there has been absolutely no water seepage or dampness to destroy the insides. Seven perfectly preserved tombs. I am sure they are resting in peace. What a delight to walk around the ruins, read so many headstones, and remember those from the distant past. Very old headstones indeed. You have so much history around you, it makes my heart yearn to live in this enchanted land. I love it more and more Sue. Outstanding video. See you soon! It’s so touching to see the remains of the flower tributes on top of the coffins. One is very green but, I know its from people who are also long gone. Rest in Peace.

Thank you for this Sue. When you were looking through the door of the mausoleum there appeared to be an upright niche on the back wall on the right. It appeared to have something standing in it? The cemetery landscape is literally heaving with headstones. So sad that all these people are forgotten.

What a beautiful sight walking up to the church and graveyard. The age of some of the headstones was incredible. The condition of the coffins in the tomb were in remarkably great condition, pretty cool. Thank you Sue.

Private Havens headstone has a dragon very similar to the Welsh Dragon on it! It's sad to see all these folks have been forgotten, especially the veterans. Always love it when you find mausoleums for us to peep into, and the older stones. Thanks Sue. Take care and stay warm. Deb of Oz XXX

Abandoned churches and churchyards are very sad places. I always wonder why they were abandoned. Possibly due to a declining congregation, which made the church not viable.
The war graves commission headstone of private Havens of the East Kent Regiment is interesting. This regiment was called ‘The Buffs’ because the facing on their scarlet tunics was buff in colour.
The pelican symbol on the coat of arms is an old Christian symbol. According to ancient legend, the pelican would draw blood from its breast by piercing it with its beak in order to feed its young.
This was seen as a symbolic reference to Jesus, who shed his blood to save mankind.

You're correct I was in Limerick recently and above the door is a pelican drawing blood from its breast to feed her babies
It's so sad to see all those old churches in ruins! I try to imagine what they must have been like in their day.

Love the old church looking up skyward. Don't usually see all that information/verses on grave stone's in the US. Usually just names and dates, my mom's had a beautiful Rose...

My family was some crazy thing my English granny was catholic n my Irish granddad was Protestant. They both immigrated to Canada met married n my grandad met a lady whose husband owned a car factory she brought him to her estate to be her head Gardner.

Never had a satisfactory answer but do all bodies in coffins not buried in the ground but placed in crypts have to be embalmed or is a hermetically sealed coffin enough? I have heard of bodies exploding!
I'm sure they go through embalming process, we still get embalmed in Ireland so they body can be waked for a few days then buried under ground

That was a good look at some coffins. They hold up well. I don’t want too descriptive but in the huge mausoleums, where hundreds are interred, there can be unfortunate mishaps. The ruins of the church are really cool. I’m sorry it was tagged a bit.

Went to Jerpoint Abbey in Kilkeney about ten years ago. Whenever I look at the pictures of the headstonesI get goose flesh. Whenever I see old headstone I always thin of the song 'Elenor Rigby'.

That’s a vampires den!Those aren’t flowers on top of the coffins, that’s garlic 🧄 and it’s what’s keeping the town safe from being overrun with vampires 🧛♀️🧛♂️🧛

Just resubbed as I lost my other account,love these videos,with so much in our histories now gone I think graveyards and cemeteries retain that history .As a child in England i walked through the local one and still the same ,comforting in a way .Great work Sue 🌹

what are the white things on the coffins, and also it looks like a tray of the same , I would say moth balls but much to big for moth balls?
Silk funeral floral displays, that would originally have had a glass dome on the tray to cover them
I’ve seen some in porcelain that have held well over the years in their glass domes. They were very popular in France in the late 1800s. I believe they were called eternelles
I believe they are immortelles, like a porcelain flower wreath, if not they may be silk flowers
