Can you explain why butchers were treated so badly back then? Didn’t they provide a service that everyone needed? I tried asking my mom who is Korean but she just said that’s how it was back then.
@@jfc8254 basically there's a theory that they represented a remnant of a group of non-"Korean" people possibly from Manchuria, who kept some nomadic traditions like eating more meat etc, and so they sort of put the identity of "butchers" to these groups of people and stuck. Kind of like how Jewish people in the middle ages coincided with the image of bankers etc.
