Eugene Choi a real person. Although he was an American, he fought with Japan for Korea's independence, and his body will soon be transferred from China to Korea and taken to the National Cemetery of Korea.. Lee Wan-yong in the play is also a real person. He had the greatest influence in selling Korea to the Japanese government and was awarded order of Merit by Japan. Quite a few other traitors sided with Japan and killed countless innocent Koreans. And Japan tends to ignore the fact that Korea was their colony, and there is discrimination and disregard for Koreans living in Japan. This drama explains why Korea and Japan are not on good terms.
@@KahlaMonique In Korean culture, Lee Wan Yong's name is used exactly like how Benedict Arnold's name is used in the US to refer to traitors lol THE most infamous traitor in Korean history
Eugene Choi is a fictional character, but the inspiration for Captain Choi was Hwang Ki-hwan, a pro-independence activist that was in the US Army, and did work at embassies in Europe to fight for having and independent Korea.
You guys have no idea how much just watching the first episode got me so excited! I'm looking forward to future episodes, and I'm so glad that I get to share it with all of you. ❤ Since I won’t be posting all my reactions here TH-cam, please don’t forget to tell me which episodes you'd like me to edit. I'll be watching all of the episodes on Patreon, and you can access those for free. You can find the link in the description. Thanks to all of you who requested this awesome drama!
The surprise and excitement I had when I saw you post 😍 Though this drama got a bit of heat due to minor (?) inaccuracies, this drama is top notch *chef's kiss* the cinematography and the score 😱😭 I can let go missing most of the episodes but pls pls pls post ep 20-24 🙏🙏🙏
Because it's a drama, I've removed a much more cruel part than what actually happened. What actually happened is much worse than what's in the drama. And the problem is that this is just the beginning...
Mr. Sunshine is one of well-written, well-acted, well-made Korean dramas! I'm so glad you're watching this drama. I would like to suggest you read the historical background of the drama (the end of the Choson period to the beginning of the Japanese colonial rule in Korea).
It's truly a masterpiece! I've watched Mr. Sunshine 3 times in a span of a month and a half. And I'm planning to watch it again very soon. I've probably watched over 100 Kdramas, but I discovered this one last year and nothing can comes closer to this one FOR ME. I loved it even more the second time and tbh I still can't get over it. Everything in this drama is perfect: The actors, the story, the cinematography (the most beautiful Kdrama I've watched) the dialogues and let's not forget the soundtrack. The more you go through the episode the more interesting it becomes. It's like watching 24 masterpiece movies. It's not just the story guys it's the way how beautifuly the movie is portrayed. It's like a poem. An astonishing poem! When to expect the next episode's reaction? Love your reactions! 😍
@@DashominIf you liked mr.sunshine i can recommend "Rebel: Thief who stole the people". Its also very dramatic and emotional, has sweet romance and a very interesting Plot. ❤
One of my favourite dramas; it makes you go through all the emotions. I love historical dramas and this one made me do all sorts of extra research to learn more. Korea and its citizen have been through so much.
Thank you for reacting to this drama. This drama is one of my 3 favorite dramas. The other is 'My mister', and the other is 'Immortal Yi Sun-sin'. thank you :)
Although the whole drama and its message is so ICONIC, the thing I love the most about it is its 5 main characters. They're all sooo DOPE and admirable that it exceeds my expectations. But ok yeah, my king is GOO DONG MAE. His charm, charisma personality, accent, voice, looks, the way he loves .... ughhh I should shut up!!!
I remember watching the last few episodes on the train on my way to university. I learned pretty fast how bad of an idea that was. Tears were streaming down my face and i tried so hard not to make a sound, i would have full on bawled several times if i had watched it at home.
Background - The war between Joseon and the United States in 1871 was a war of aggression waged by the United States, which gained confidence in Japan's opening of ports, to forcibly open Joseon. At that time, the United States, through the Civil War, was armed with tremendous fighting power, practical experience, and new weapons, so it unilaterally slaughtered the Joseon Army armed with outdated weapons. The Joseon army resisted desperately, even throwing soil, but in the end they were all annihilated. At that time, there were about 1,000 Joseon soldiers guarding Ganghwa Island, of which more than 344 people, including the commander, were all killed, and 20 people were captured and completely annihilated. On the other hand, the US Army won a landslide victory, losing only 3 killed and 15 wounded out of 1230 troops. However, the US army was taken aback by the unexpectedly desperate resistance of the Joseon army, and as the opening of the port of Joseon failed to achieve any results, they decided that occupying Seoul, the capital city, was unreasonable and withdrew their troops.
I have literally NO bad opinions about this drama which is crazy because I have one even on the most popular kdramas out there. I love ALL the main leads as well. The 3 men love interest and our girlie mostly 🥺
Most of The background events were true and so are some of the charaters. Especially the battle with America! South Korea got the big white flag back from America a few years ago who took it at the battle field. The story between characyers are totally fictional but this drama shows the caotic history of Korea from late 19th to early 20th. ^^
I've only just discovered your channel and I wanted to say a big thank you for discovering and reacting to this show! It's hands down one of the best shows every and I love you for it!!!
Another thing to appreciate about this show is that they actually used decent actors for the non-Korean roles. I hate when kdramas use terrible western actors. It can take me right out of the show.
"Mr. Sunshine" (Korean drama with a bit of fiction based on historical background and true story) It deals with the story before full-scale colonization, so it is weaker than what actually happened. It is one of the history of Koreans being angry and angry. Japanese politicians say that they enlightened Korea and gave it a chance. It is only the perspective of the perpetrators.
Every episode is riveting! You so beautifully express your reactions and even though I watched this months ago, you bring it all back to life for me. I remember exactly sharing your thoughts/feelings. This is truly an extraordinary show, by every measure. Thank you!
yes! what made me like this drama so much is the cinematography. usually other kdramas start out really good but near the end nothing much going on in terms of cinematography, but this one doesn't! the cinematography keeps going hard until the end
