It's not a big thing but in Episode 9, in the scene where Aeshin&Eugene were in the room talking.. there is a word play in korean in Aeshin's speech: the conversation began when Eugene told Aeshin to live like a flower like other girls in Joseon..[ Aeshin had always heard from her grandfather about living “like a flower” which is related to the meaning of not learning, not fighting, living like a noble girl and getting married. being interested in makeup/accessories instead of newspapers and books, this was the stereotype of the life of noble girls before.. but us&Aeshin herself knows that’s not really her! when she hear her grandfather said she replied : I would rather die than that. so Aeshin's response to Eugene was: "I'm not different either, I live like a flower too" Here comes the words play-so Instead of living like a flower “꽃”kkot> Aeshin always wanted to live like a flame “볼꽃”bolkkot .. the literal translation in Korean is “a burning flower” Aeshin’s passion for fighting and for her country was really big that she forgot that she asked to do “love” with Eugene...although she is also a human and fears death, her only wish is to live a life where she fights to the end (like a flame) and dies(withers) like a flower. I felt sad while seeing Eugene's looks at her, especially after the word "forgot it(love)" as if he was disappointed to the point of saying: How cruel she is, where do I fall between her passion and her cruelty? I thought I was already close to it but I guess I have to go further, one more step towards the flames (Aishin)»
I concur. It's very Shakespearean style of love where so much is conveyed through their words, looks and small gestures yet very impactfully powerful and erotically romantic.
"I talked myself into a hole!" I just love your responses! The Shakespeare reference is so apt, I never thought of that before. "Their love is "so quiet, and yet so loud", such a beautiful way of putting it, and so true. This show has so much intrigue!!
I’ve already filmed episode 9, so it’ll be up in the next few days. My schedule’s been a bit all over the place, but I’m hoping to post multiple episodes a week from now on. 😊
