    How to succeed at Amazon
    1. Go in, do your job, and shut up
    2. Don't worry about trying to move up.... Just do the job you are assigned and good things will happen
    3. Amazon is paying decent money for the work you do..... More than minimum wage to take things out of a tote and put into shelves that are brought to you..... Just do it

I have young kid’s complaining about how Amazon is terrible and want different jobs, I always tell them Amazon is pretty easy compared to other warehouse jobs like ULINE. I'm at a amazon warehouse in Georgia. People are getting fired left and right.
    1. Trying to work a shift that's not on your schedule is getting people this and last week.
    2. People stealing snacks from the break room.
    3. Time off Task. A girl went into the break room for 1 hour, and then walked to the other break room, and then came back to the first one. They will get her eventually.
    Just come in and do your job. It's really not that hard.

They told me I'm allowed 1 error every 1000 product. They told me the error was so bad I went from 0 write ups to my 3rd one instantly. There is a 1 item per bin error maximum. So even if you technically missed 19 items, it's a maximum of 1 error. Idk who gave you an instant third write up but it sounds like management was as bad at your facility as it is at mine. For perspective, I've gotten write ups form management where they literally didn't know what it was for. Of course, they couldn't do anything about it today but the manager promised he'd investigate and get back to me. He came back alright, with another write up. He didn't know what the second one was for either. 😂

    As an Amazon worker in Michigan, I say this is not true for me. I work the night shift (12 hrs)strict on is sitting on the work table or the floor. If a manager sees you doing it more than 3 times, you will be written up. And enough times you may be let go. But most people leave on their terms so like if a guy was use to being a driver previously, and they end up being a picker, they'll decide to move on. And that's fine with anyone.

    From my experience the Amazon I work at keeps terminating people and keep hiring new people for no reason. You got too many people working there and not to mention they fire you for behavior, rates, and productivity. Everyone I’m familiar with do stowing and get written up because of their rates and the items that are coming out of the conveyor is only giving them big items and need like a mix of small, medium, and large items in order to keep there rate up. Everyone keeps talking about finding another job so Amazon ain’t all that great. There’s favoritism, no fairness, and young managers that are in their 20’s and incapable of being one in the first place

    I’ve worked for all 3 buildings in my area and from my POV IMO it all really depends on the location and the people you have above you and around you as well as the tasks you are doing. I’ve seen people in lead roles get fired for something as simple as checking their phone on the floor after being with the company long enough to move up in to that position, I’ve heard of people being fired left and right. You go in and day to day literally the faces change and people disappear and then you hear of stories of them later being fired for different reasons. The best thing you can do is like he says, do your job, stay within the safety guidelines and watch your attendance. I’ve never been written up for anything but I’ve always hit my rates, always worked safe and never went negative on UPT.

    This is why I strive to teach my kids responsibility, too many people have become lazy or have never been taught to be dependable and hard workers. It truly is a mind set. You have to strive to be better and that is why school matters folks. If you don't want to be stuck working at the ground level of Amazon or wherever, you have to put in the work, yes some people are more fortunate that is just the way it is, but if you put in the work, are dependable, and always looking to make moves up the chain the sky is the limit. I work for a large bourbon brand and I started out as a Temp who at the time was never considered for full time because we were expendable and if we didn't have the resume and experience to go full time from the jump they would literally look down on you. So I made it my personal mission to go in everyday rolling 600 lb. barrels from 6 a.m. until 4 p.m. I pushed myself every single day to out work every other person until one day the Warehouse Supervisor pulled me in the office and told me not to say anything but that HR wanted to speak with me. I thought I was in trouble, then once I got their I was greeted with a smile and told, "So you're the one we keep hearing great things about." I was relieved but still nervous until she told me they wanted me to put my resume in and asked when I could test. It worked out that I had a month before I could get in for testing because it was done a the local college. I studied up on everything with regards to math because they test everything. I passed and was called and congratulated. Guys this job was a once in a lifetime job with great benefits and higher pay than I had ever made. I was the first Temp to be hired ever. Most applicants had degrees, or years of experience with top end companies. The point to this whole story is if you are willing to put in the work, show up and strive to make the job better for yourself and those around you, you can accomplish anything you set out too. I now have moved up through the company and can go anywhere in the industry with the Experience I have. If your in a dead end job or your not happy in your current spot you have to go out and find it. Always learn as much as you can and move around to gain experience. You will eventually get wherever it is you want to be so long as you are a good worker and contribute to the team. If its not in your area sometimes you have to make a move. Give it hell either way and I wish everyone the best.

    I wished I saw this video earlier...
    Everything said in this video is true.
    Prime Example (I'm a Learning Ambassador for Stower and Receivers if this helps from perspective):
    In my building the minimum receiving rates have to be 100-105/uph. To keep things simple...a person basically has to scan 2-3 items a minute.
    I've seen a person skip receiving the larger boxes (with 25 items in it) just to scan smaller boxes with 2 items in it. I've hinted at this person telling that person "Ya know that 1 big package you skipped was basically equal to 10 mins of work, right?"
    That person could have scanned those 25 items...take a 3-4 minute break and scan another item because TOT doesn't technically kick in until around the 5 minute mark.
    Instead that person is struggling to make rate while others average anywhere between 110-150ish ratewise. And PAs (Process Assistant) are on that person's case because that person is in the lower 3. (Being lower 3 consistently gets you coached and eventually written up.)
    Note: I don't know if this applies everywhere. But in my building, 30 mins TOT for an entire day is a write-up and 45 mins TOT for an entire day is grounds for termination.

    • @TheAnxiousAdventurer
      @TheAnxiousAdventurer 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What's TOT? Is it like your speed? So the bottom one third of employees in terms of speed are the ones getting talked to? So if you are just average or even a little slower, you are still good?

    • @Frosty4024
      @Frosty4024 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@TheAnxiousAdventurer TOT is Time Off Task or time away from your task. Your speed is measured in Uph (Units per hour.)

    How about reasons people quit? I worked there 2 times. Quit twice. Terrible training. Started my third week with a write up for errors stowing. From a kid 20 years younger than myself. I'd worked like 8 days. Including "training". Resigned the next day with h.r. wasn't taken off schedule and my upt went negative 50 hours. Called erc.
    Round two never met my manager or heard her name. 3 weeks in got covid and med leave. Tried to force me back without giving me time for doctor, still sick.(covid drags out!) Got inhaler!¡!¡ came back to being picked for labor share?! Expected to drop my scan time from 15sec to 8 or 9 sec to achieve a steady 350 pieces an hour picking items? So backwards from stowing. Amazon is so rude! Once again my manager was a little 20 something girl. She didn't care how I was after covid. She hides in another part of the building in some super easy job. Meanwhile I'm 45 with bad knee can't jump from the picking platform to up a ladder fast enough to break a 11 sec takt time. She's tiny and young having no clue how to treat employees. The sick, elderly, disabled are working at Amazon being whipped about numbers. No jobs for them there. Don't work there unless you are very healthy like the video host or bring your medical accommodation list. You are just a number on some kids laptop. You can't just switch to day shift you gotta wait a month or more blah blah the computer blah blah the app blah blah vacation denied blah blah EVERYTHING IS YELLOW WHY!?

    I am a local truck driver, and I always feel so bad seeing the Amazon people outside in their little cage break area lol. Anyone who reads this who is 21 with a good driving record think about getting your CDL, I make 30 dollars and hour and no one tells me shit. As long as I make my pickups and deliveries on time, I could never do the warehouse thing longest I ever lasted was a month

    • @S.B.
      @S.B.  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hahaha I remember sitting in those cages and yes... I remember looking sad lol. And thats crazy I was just thinking about if I should get mine, how's the future in that industry? And do you have to drive country wide to make a nice living or can you do local?

    • @zachz699
      @zachz699 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@S.B. Well almost everything you use and everything you eat has touched a truck to get to you so the future is good, if you mean autonomy its not going to happen in our lifetime lol. Worry about that when self driving cabs are a standard in major cities and all warehouse stuff is automated. Local is highly preferred for most people, but you may have to do some over the road type stuff to get your experience up before local will hire you, I got on a good local gig after 6 months of regional home weekly. But you might get lucky. Over the road is mileage rate generally 2 weeks out with 2 days home. Local is generally weekends off, or like me now I work Sunday to Thursday OT after 40 and all that. And if you calculate time spent over the road for the pay and time spent local and everything involved you make more money for time spent locally, the going hourly for local is generally 26-34 an hour depending on several factors. You might make more OTR if you are in very high mileage rate over the road gigs, which want the same experience that local does anyway but you are still gone for weeks working 7 days a week driving, it sucks. The amount and types of truck driving jobs is immense. Different schedules and trailer types, hazmat tanker stuff, dry van, reefer, dump trucks the sky is the limit. Way more that I can type here, definitely start doing some research. My best advice to you is test out in a manual, get all your endorsements. Keep your driving record cleeean

    The reason I got fired is because I don’t like how forceful my PA is and he thinks he can forcefully manipulate me to do work, and I’m thinking to myself I’ll do it as long as he shuts the fuck about it and once my first break is done i always check the board to make sure that my name badge was at the original station that my PA sent me to and if it’s not then I’m thinking, “maybe the PA wanted me to be there for a few things to be done. But I didn’t know it was gonna be for the whole entire shift. Plus I’m not charge of the standup board and all the operation and PAs are responsible for that shit.
