Hey girl, have you tried doing the LCO method instead of LOC? I had the same exact issue w/ moisture leaving my hair so quickly & couldn't understand why (my hair is v. similar to yours; 4b, same length, moderately dense)... I switched the order of products and it changed the whole game for me lol. Since the O you use is a mix of sealing oils (almond & castor are so thick), maybe doing the cream first then the oil will help lock in that moisture!
TheNotoriousKIA Try this combo: really LOCG, Water is the first liquid. I can't manipulate my hair without it. O is any oil of choice. I switch this up but my favorite is the scalp oil mix by Mizzini. It's expensive but you will see the difference. The C is my leave in moisturizer, normally Giovanni's Direct Leave In or Shea Moisture's castor oil leave in moisturizer. Both are creamy and I smooth them in well. I follow that with my gel normally eco with Argan oil.
FYI: My styles usually last the whole week. My favorite way to moisture my hair? I leave my shower cap off and let my hair absorb the humidity from my shower. Once I'm out, I lightly massage some oil in my hands and spread it through my hair. Living dangerously I know but it works lol.
I have 4c hair too , this method works very well for kinkier textures .I've used it on multiple clients with similar hair texture to me and it works. It's better for me living in rainy England as it just seals evrything in.
Im glad you're saying you redo your hair every other day because theses girls say their hair last longer than two days with out retouching make me think what I'm I doing wrong but it's good to hear honesty
thank you for showing me a fun way to change up my 4c natural hair, and repping 4c/4b hair, which often is forgotten about and pushed aside in the natural hair world
the dryness might be due to the fro. I found that spraying my hair lightly with water, applying a sealant to my ends then putting my hair in four loose buns kept my style moisturized and intact for the week.
this is my favorite video. I know it's just hair care, but every time I forget how beautiful my afro is I come here and get the motivation to take care of it. 🥰😍
This is exactly how I always wear my hair! I put it in chunky braids to stretch after washing it, usually takes 3 days to dry then I take it out and really seperate everything to make a huge afro. its nice to see someone else doing the same!
In my opinion Liquid, Cream and then Oil makes the most sense for dryer hair. Putting cream on top of oil is not as effective as putting oil on top of cream bc oil seals in moisture better than cream. Cream dries out faster. But your end result looks fantastic.
Bless you for this. FINALLY someone with my hair type/density/porosity is giving me what I need. I have aaaall the oils and narrowed down what products my hair tends to love, I've just needed a break from the signature wash-n-go. This is what I'll be trying. thank you so much!
Girl! I did this except I did a three strand braid (two strand twists only make my hair wavy), and my hair looks exactly like yours! I love it. Thanks for sharing this. ♥
I love it!!! I believe we have the same hair type. I've been natural for about 9 years, but almost gave up and went back to a relaxer. I found it hard to maintain my hair with doing my daughter's hair as well. I'm subscribing to your channel. And thank you for inspiring me to get back into properly caring for my natural hair.
Beautiful hair as always. I wanted too add I recently started mixing my moisturizers with hemp oil and the moisture from that oil mix is days of softness and moisture and I have bleached blonde hair.
I just found you today and its like you are a gift from the heaven. My hair also ranges in curl patterns. It has some sleek pieces and coarse pieces and is also on the high porosity side. Ive been looking for a youtuber with similar hair for so long I could cry. Thank You!
I had no idea so much work went into a fro! I ignorantly thought a fro was a simple 'wake up and go' type style. I learned so much in this video. Thank you!
Depends. I can wake up with a fro-hawk and after spraying with water it’ll fall and I use my fingers to shape. And then it shrinks. Now this style here I have to try… curls and stretches!
I genuinely thought that there was something not right with my hair because I can't go more than 2 days without restyling either! Lol Sometimes in the summer every night 😩 glad I'm not alone. Think I'll try the gel tho to see if that could hold my style for longer.
I finally understood the L.O.C method! I really thought the L was water. No wonder my hair didn't look good. I've always wondered if people had to wait their hair in the morning like me every time. I'm new to the natural hair movement and I don't have anybody to advise me. But my hair is really flat and matted on the sides in the mornings so if I don't wet it, I can't style it. But it's so cold!!! This method seems better. Thanks for sharing it!
Yaasss, now that's the kinda of fro I'd like to achieve. Thanks for the detailed description of maybe needing to get a cut or trim , down to having multiple hair patterns. I can relate .
NikkiBNatural loves using Aloe Vera juice as her liquid bc she says it's great for retaining moisture! Her hair is absolutely stunning and I'm gonna give it a try myself
my hair is the same way with having to do it every other day. Any styles I do that involve twists, I'll just retwist it every night. Which is annoying as hell, but it helps me prolong the days. Love this video!
This is one of the most informative videos on TH-cam. Thank you for describing your hair’s characteristics. Often I watch videos, become inspired by the style, then disappointed when it doesn’t work on my combo hair (I think I have 3a-4z hair). (Yes, 4z. Imagine trying to style that 😖)
I'm new to natural hair and I'm glad that you mentioned that you restyle your hair so much because I have to do that as well. I thought it was too much but I have the same issue my hair soaks up any product by the end of the day
I'm so happy right now. I think I found my hair twin! I have all textures in my hair from 4a-4c mainly 4b as well and high porosity where I need to moisturize my hair every day or every other day because if I don't, I will look hot mess the next day. I absolutely love your hair btw!!
I could literally cry! We have the same exact hair type! As soon as I saw your thumbnail I was like this totally looks like my fro, only half the size! Ok so I have to see some products you use, for now I keep it so minimal. I live by the LOC like you said I have to redo styles almost daily. My twists outs come out just like this, I just want to know a really cool holding gel to use besides Eco. Glad I found you!! 😁😁😁😁
Hi Kia!! I am so grateful to come across a TH-camr that I can relate to as far as hair texture. What did you tell your stylist in order to have this shape? Ive been wanting a cut but Ive been afraid to cut all of my hair off from the back. HOWEVER, your hair is just so ENCOURAGING to just go for it.
TheNotoriousKIA Thank you so much for responding!! I'll make sure I let her know. She's pretty awesome so Im hoping mines comes out great. I need a shape to really have these twistouts pop. Anywho, I truly enjoy your content and advice. Looking forward to your future vids. Much Love!
I love this afro look, it's beautiful. My hair is similar to yours different textures and it stays dry. It's hard to find a product that keeps my hair moist
You have a really good camera for recording because I did notice the different hair textures you were describing. I started to notice different hair textures in my hair too. I had a very similar moisture issue with my hair and find myself having to layer things on or restyling every few days when Im not feeling lazy.
The way you described your hair is similar to mine. It's all over the place, can't keep a twist out for long so I have to re-due it and straightens fairly well.
I get the same dryness after a couple days, it's so tedious to restyle sometimes though. Anyways, I always love your fro! You need my Fro Stay Poppin' tee :)
Very pretty! I think we have similar textures. Because I too have soo many different textures on my head! Especially the crown! I'm like, did I eat my twin in the womb! Why is my hair so tight at the crown! LOL! I have to re-wet my hair during the week as well. I wasn't doing that at first, and by Wednesday, my hair would be a big hot mess! But I usually bantu knot it. I've been wanting to try the twist and perm rod method to see if I can get a more defined curl. I just recently tried the LCO method and it's worked wonders for retaining moisture.
I tried this out last weekend, it came out amazing. Bouncy, shiny, defined.... I just don't have any place to go and rock this fro due to the virus lol. Oh well, I'll rock it at home, it's cool.
Looks so beautiful 😍 can u do a detailed video about your cuts n trims because I love the way your hair is shaped and will like if my hair was shaped like yours 😍
OMG! I literally thought u had type 3 hair with the fro! Slay Girl Slay! We have the same hair. Im mixed with 4B/C. No one can tell but my hair reacts differently in different parts. So i can tell the struggle is real girl!
Thanks for the styling tutorial and the hair care tips! I never heard of LOC or LOG. I need something to work. Also I need to cut my hair into a style !!
Love love love that I finally discovered you on Instagram. You are so popping in all the ways! You are also the closest person I’ve seen that has hair similar to mine! Gabrielle Artis I have found that the LCO method works best for me too

Girl.... Ain't that the truth. I'm always like "I must be sleeping wrong." LOL.
@@chaneldavishall 🤣😂🤣 RIGHT! LOL
It depends....every one is not the same but some do get longer periods between wash day etc based on hair texture, products, environment, and care.
Sometimes banding the hair preserves the style. I band and can keep my twist out for 3 -4 days
SAME
People don't realise how much time and effort goes into our hair yet they want to dig their hands in it smh
Steve Elcock Aahaha so true.
Steve Elcock I hate that like dont touch my hair or my kids hair
@@Brown_Sugar11 i understand the hair part but if anyone touches my kids hair, issa fight💀
Exactly! And if they attempt to touch mine, I’m slapping all hands like they are flies. It is an invasion of personal space and time!
And I say no or stop them and tell them that’s rude
If I have to hear keyshia cole tell me about what she found one more time, I'm calling the police lol
OMG I know right! It was Sooooo distracting
😂😂😂😂
that shit got stuck in my head lmao
Girl me too.Sounding just like an angry goat
🤣🤣🤣🤣
I actually liked the song. I loved Keisha and her struggle voice back then lol I guess I'm the only one. it brought back memories ❤
Brittany Porter lmao struggle voice
I love Keyshia too and I think the song is lovely.
Her voice is still struggling in 2018.
thank you for showing me a fun way to change up my 4c natural hair, and repping 4c/4b hair, which often is forgotten about and pushed aside in the natural hair world
the dryness might be due to the fro. I found that spraying my hair lightly with water, applying a sealant to my ends then putting my hair in four loose buns kept my style moisturized and intact for the week.
You're welcome!
What kind of sealant do you use?
Me too

I’m watching this because I have a barbie with a Afro and I’m trying to figure out how to tame it xd
I know this video is old but I just did this...followed to the "tee" and it came out beautifully! I'm in love 😍
love the shape of your fro!! that afro pick come through for volume!
Every other day? Sis I’m shook. I’m 1 year and 3 months in and ... umm I’m already tired of doing it haha once a week.
You’re the real mvp lol

It sounds like you have high porosity. Moisture don't stay in my hair more than 2 to 3 days if I don't Moisture again. Love the fro!!

I'm still in my TWA phase 😫, but I'm hoping and praying for this kinda volume when my hair grows. So gorgeous.

Thank you for sharing your technique for obtaining your signature fro! I tried it and love the look I got! Thank you 😊

Wow! I thought you were one of those mixed girls who had curly hair, but you knocked it out the park! Great tut.
Love the shape & final results turned out amazing 💕
omg - once in a while you see your hair twin....love it! thanks for sharing
I just did this style to my hair and I LOVEEEEE ITTTT!!!! love it. From washing with clay to takin my twist out to Afro picking lol
Omg that is beautiful. Thank you for this. I never knew how to get my fro going.
Love the fro!!

It’s not fair some people look gorgeous without trying 😩.😍😍
Every time I see one of your posts on Instagram I wonder how you get your hair like this!! So glad you filmed it, I'll have to try it soon
I thoroughly enjoyed watching this video 🤎
I like it. I never thought of that, to twist and then pin curl. Good idea.
You are soo beautiful our society needs more people like you💜I hope you go far
I love this afro look, it's beautiful. My hair is similar to yours different textures and it stays dry. It's hard to find a product that keeps my hair moist
Your thumbnail is giving me life. Your hair is beautiful 🙌🏽
Ive been trying to find an everyday fro i think this is it🥰🥰 thank you
Beautiful super thick hair!!!
I'm gonna give this a try. My hair is also mostly 4b and we have the same density. Thanks for sharing.

Loving the big hair. My hair is identical to yours so I'm subbing
Beautiful!! Absolutely going to try this!
Oh my goodness, I finally found my hair twin!
I get the same dryness after a couple days, it's so tedious to restyle sometimes though.
Anyways, I always love your fro! You need my Fro Stay Poppin' tee :)
How do you maintain it at night?

KeishLifeDOTcom oooh girl your hair in your profile pic is so pretty

This was great! finally someone who has the same texture as me! Thank you for the tips!
Loooveee you're Afro!!! And the slow mo was everything
Okay but I love the pineapple look, some cute pine up make up and outfit 😍😍 yessss
I haven't watched your vidoes in quite a few months. Now I'm catching up and noticed that your hair is growing nicely and thick too! 😍
Why on earth would you dislike a video of a beautiful sister talking care of her hair????
Love love love! Could you do a tutorial for this makeup?
Now, to have hair that actually fros at the top! Lol. Cute & quick summer style. My hair is 3c mixed with 4a
Hey girlie! Would you consider filming a follow-up video that details your fro's shape and a length check!?
You just answered all my prayers with one single video lmao
OMG! I literally thought u had type 3 hair with the fro! Slay Girl Slay! We have the same hair. Im mixed with 4B/C. No one can tell but my hair reacts differently in different parts. So i can tell the struggle is real girl!
love this ❤️🌊
I would be interested too know if you protective style. If no, then you have defied the odds for type 4 hair...GORG!
I love your hair!! I have different textures in my hair as well and it can be frustrating. I mush get my hair cut and shaped. Thanks for sharing :).
Thanks for the styling tutorial and the hair care tips! I never heard of LOC or LOG. I need something to work. Also I need to cut my hair into a style !!
i just love ur hair shape! and you inspire me 😍🤗hair goals
Love love love that I finally discovered you on Instagram. You are so popping in all the ways! You are also the closest person I’ve seen that has hair similar to mine! I appreciate you, some of my curls are silky and loose and others are dry and tight. Real question what’s your favorite leave in conditioner and gel/cream to use?
I know it’s different for each person but since my hair is so similar I would like to try your favorite cause it’s costly. Finally created an oil mix (try adding lemon grass oil it will help you hair grow fast)! Sorry if you are repeating yourself I couldn’t get through all 500+ comments. Thank you in advance and I can’t wait to test this out
My favorite video yet!!! Thank you, doing today.
