Thanks for the Video, I've personally also had these same 3 common failures with my Fluke 87 over the years. I also own a MAC Tools ET-332 Multimeter that has a broken Red Voltage Test Lead Socket, this Meter has 3 Red Sockets one of which is labled CX that I've never used, so tonight I de-soldered both the V and the CX Sockets and re-soldered the CX socket in the V position. My ET-332 Meter is now usable again. Randy AKA randog311

This is unrelated but i have two LED's that give different brightnesses no matter if i hooked them up to the other ones connection. Will they lose the ability to light up after multiple uses?
My multimeter works okay for voltage and amps. On the ohm scale with the speaker function, my meter is beeping
WITHOUT the leads touching each other. I know this wrong. Is there a fix for this OR should I buy a new meter?
Good deal,but that was no help for me;
the varistor was exploded,replaced the fuse, and i think the whole shibang had gone bad, no display at all; fuses and battery are ok; getting another multimeter;
i think that 220 V were tested by mistake when in the ohms scale; would that blow it totally?

Is there a place to learn about multimeter LCD inputs? Looking for a way to pick up LCD signals to control an external device.
try looking up ir sensors, maybe from an old t.v. remote.
Any thoughts on what could cause that multimeter to power down after two seconds of being turned on?
A fluke multimeter that powers up, LCD does it's self test and it turns on, but then fades to off after about three seconds and has a known good battery.
I have the same problem but mine did it only once and hasn't came back on. Change the battery, haven't changed the fuse, was going to try a resistor or diode.

I used 3695, PeakTech multimeter. to measure electric rat traps. It was working, but then I activated dead voltage shok and while measuring turned to other parameters and my bultimeter made strage buzz sound and turned off. Fuse is ok, but multimeter is not working. Batteries are also good.
Is it possible and how to fixit? :D
Hello! The problem with my multimeter is - When I connect the DMM across a resistor (which was supposed to show a few millivolts), it shows a random voltage for a second and then gradually decreases to zero. That is, finally, it shows 0 volts. So, what could be the problem with my multimeter? Please share your experience. Thank you!

I have a craftsman multimeter almost new ... everything works except for the continuity .... how would you go about to fix that ... the battery tests 9.4 volts
When testing continuity, both leads connected together read 750 on the multimeter. Shouldnt it read 0? I am at a loss :')
I have klein tools multimeter, the issue is its coming on, i am able to switch between functions but when testing for voltage or continuity nothing happens on the display.
Besides the it being the leads are there any other issues that i can check?
My multimeter does not zero after taking leads off battery being tested what could cause the this? I have to turn it off and back on to get the voltage to drop. Also the voltage that I am reading dose not make sense.

What could happen if you check ohms with power in the circuit?

The multimeter should tell you low voltage battery come on the screen when in use, not used for a long time and don't turn on , first thing you do his check the battery and connector, ps not nock in you at all but if I wasn't using this great tool , take the battery out from any battery leaks. Puka tool to mess up
My Fluke is not measuring resistance properly. It slowly counts down until it finally beeps. I have changed the leads with brand new ones. Why would the resistance reading start at a high number then count down slowly till it reaches a low enough resistance to beep?
My Radio Shack does the same !!
