Caught my first bass ever on a wacky rigged senko a few years ago. I have been addicted to bass fishing ever since. I've learned that you can fish as simple or as complex as you want. But sometimes it's the simplest of lures that can save you from getting skunked.

Love this! Caught my first couple largemouth on a wacky, too. Prefer Texas rigs most of the time, but still throw soft plastics all the time.

I know most bass fisherman don't use circle hooks but I've come to find that wacky rigging on a 1/0 circle hook had dramatically increased my hookset whereas I was missing more than half of the hooksets using wacky hooks and kahle hooks. It also has allowed me to use a rod holder for the wacky rig after I cast it out and then I can use another rod with a different rig that actually needs a hookset. I've had multiple times where I've caught bass on the Wacky rig while it was in the rod holder because I noticed the line started moving so I grabbed that rod and started reeling. I've caught all my bass this summer on it and can say that the Creme Scoundrel in a natural color that looks like a real worm works wonders on the wacky rig.

Thanks Tyler. I am not a beginner and can remember when senkos first hit the market. You definitely have a gift for teaching.because I found myself watching something.I have done hundreds of times. Keep up the good work, I will recommend you to anybody looking to improve there skills.

If you're running low on senkos you don't have to cut a fresh senko in half to use them for ned rigs. You can use your used senkos that are tore up from texas/wacky rigging and give them new life for ned rigs.

I love your videos and have learned a ton from them! You've made a better, more disciplined fisherman👍That said, I love fishing soft plastics. They're my go to and usually the first thing I throw ar the start of every session. They're easy, fun and almost always catches a fish or two! I like using small circle hooks for wacky, weedless hooks if I'm in a weedy area. I used to use O rings, but now use clear 1/2" heat shrink. I just take a small piece, slide it over the worm, heat it with a lighter and it tightens right down on the worm. Then, just run the hook through the heat shrink. I do several at a time so I always have a variety ready. A single worm can last several days and I don't go through them nearly as fast as I used to. Big plus is that it only takes about half a minute to set one up with the heat shrink.

Honestly if I could fish one lure for the rest of my life, it’d be a senko, you can do pretty much anything you’d need to do to catch bass with one.

The Senko style worm is an absolute great bait to use and can be rigged in many different ways. My favorite way to rig it is on a Shakey head. Absolute killer. There’s just something about the simplicity of it that bass love. Great video and keep them coming.

I just remembered I was doing almost the same exact thing but with nightcrawlers 35-40 years ago based on a technique I read about in The InFishermen
We used #4 hooks and very very small splitshot 12-14" above the hook
Had access to some private land with four strip pit lakes on it we absolutely murdered the bass big gills and even crappies with this set up
    But
We were fishing 100% from boats because there was less than 20% of the shore of these lakes provided and fishing access
Tride it once at home but it got snagged to much in vegitation
But now I can fish the wacky rig with soft plastics and are very excited to see what will happen
Am very experienced and successful at fishing soft plastics and 4 of my five bass over 8lbs I caught using a Texas rigged worm and 80-90% of my bass over 4lbs fell to a rubber worm so Im really going to give a wacky worm rig a try along with a DS

I caught my first spotted bass last week on a weighted weedless wacky rig hook and a Googan Lunker Log, 3.64 lbs. I grew up fishin' on the beach so bass fishin' is kinda new to me. So I'd agree that wacky rigged and Texas rigged Senko type lures are pretty easy to use. They look like they could work for the saltwater too.

Used a green pumpkin worm Texas rigged to catch my only fish yesterday in a 7 hr outing. It was a rough day on the bank but worth it. That was my last cast. I was tired, hungry and was able to finally pack up leave. Otherwise I'd probably still be out there dodgingand running from snakes 😂 just plain ol' stubbornness paid off for once

no, it doesnt matter with regular hooks/rigs/lures. the only times it matters is with a snell like matt mentioned, or if you are dropshotting with a polamar knot.

I disagree. There are several lures better for beginners. In fact many will catch multi species. Beetle spins, crappie tubes, grubs with jig head, grub with jig head and spinner, and in line spinners like rooster tails and mepps are all good bass lures for beginners. As well as a Texas rig culprit or curly tail worm. All these lures you can just cast and reel except the Texas rig.

Try a senko or plastic worm on a circle hook. Great for beginners and kids, no hookset required you just reel. The bass gets hooked in the corner of the mouth almost everytime and they almost never come off.
