Would love to see more "stock friendly" videos like this. I'm not set up for hard routes but would still like to get out there on a weekend trip when I can.
Oh yes please do more of this type of content. I just got back to Michigan after looking around London, Corbin, and summerset for a retirement areas. I can't wait to move down there the beauty in Ky is incredible. ♥️
For sure, more "stock friendly" would be great. Some of us newbies are still building confidence in our vehicles and learning what they're capable of. Thanks!
Please do more trail guides! I'd love to see your complete route on the gps or maybe a list of roads in the description. We are about to start exploring the Daniel Boone and looking forward to it.
I live just north of Cincinnati and have been looking for this type of information so I can get out and about in my full-size truck. I am so glad that somebody has done this and would greatly appreciate if you are doing more of them. Thank you for your efforts!
@@aaronlakanen4041 I'm in Eastgate. I have a crew cab Silverado, slightly lifted. I'm looking for places to go also. If you know of any, please let me know
Appreciate finding this and looking forward to more. I used to hit some of the harder trails out there in modded Jeeps, but now being between rigs, I’m considering what else I want to get into. Of course, it made me think about what else the DBBB has to offer as well that doesn’t require a trail build. Got a son now, and have to get him out there and introduce him!
Something TH-cam is lacking is more content with stock Jeeps/4x4's. Please post more of thi type of content! A lot of us buy Jeeps with the great intentions of Dana 60's, 6" Lifts, 40" tires, but struggle to put a tank of gas in it. More stock Jeep content please!
Thank you so much for this video! My family and I are just beginning to get our feet wet and Overlanding and this is on our bucket list to do in September. I’ve enjoyed watching your video since we bought our jeep Wrangler in June. We didn’t do our first over landing excursion until this past weekend and we had so much fun we can’t wait to do more.
Looked like a cool place. Close enough to Virginia where I am going to have to do some research on it and see about getting some maps. Yes, I love paper maps.
From Pennsylvania here, missed you by a week, visited RRG last weekend and ran the DBBB . Lots of mud! Great trail and awesome views in the gorge. Keep the videos coming.
Red River Gorge is one the best in class rock climbing destinations in the world. Been hiking and backing it for years.... just been wheeling it for a short time. Haha great video!
Good content. Unfortunately, like the jeep badge rating system, the trails can change drastically seasonally. Is old walker creek washed out completely yet? Love that trail but last year it was pretty sketchy with the narrow washout!
Awesome video as always Bill and Deb. Yes must definitely do more content like this video and can y’all do a video rating trails from easy to difficult.
Your timing is great! Got a stock AWD SUV with decent ground clearance, and will be coming down to that area the first weekend in June for the Overland Vehicle Summit. Will probably mark up a map (or OnX online) while rewatching this video. Thanks!
It may be covered in another video, but what is the dash mount that you have your electronics on? Also, definitely want to see more stuff like this. I have an Xterra which probably won't get to be much more than stock. Thank you.
I like these type videos that say exactly where you are, what roads are taken and explain the terrain. Some folks only get to do one or two big trips a year and I'd hate to find myself knee deep in mud or crossing a boulder field when I wasn't prepared for it. It would be helpful in the comments if you could list the roads as spellings can be different that what you'd think. Callies vs Kellys for instance.
Thank you for watching. While I understand a lot of folks might use this video for research for their own adventure. The level of detail that you are requesting can be found in the gpx file of this trip on our Patreon page
Great video. Just in the nick for time I am going through KY next week for a day and gave me some great places to see. Is there any dispersed camping allowed on the route?
Yeah, this was a great option. Definitely vote in favor of more trips like this that don’t require all the investment in high end rigs. Being able to drive home has value.
There's an un-met need from the off-road van community which you may be be able to provide; can you find, and drive, trails that 4x4 or AWD Transits (148 non-extended) and Sprinters (144) can drive? There are varying roof-heights for these vans so expecting that to be a limiting factor too. I am one owner who is interested spending time in these areas but just don't know where to go. The West receives plenty of love but think KY, TN are just as deserving. Any help is always welcome.
The first thing I would caution is 4 wheel drive is different than AWD. I wish I could help, but we have no experience in a van. Any advice that I would give would be purely speculation.
How do you think a stock F-150 would do along those routes? I don't doubt my old stockish JKU could've done it, but the F-150 is a little lower and doesn't have the undercarriage protection.
Thanks for this! Been wanting to do some of the DBBB but wasn’t sure where to go with my Silverado with ATs and not worry the wife that we’d be stuck lol. What’s the start and finish of this section?
Appreciate your high quality podcast! I’m 78 and suffering from bad health, can’t travel any more. Want to give you some advice. A Kentucky Department of Resources told me and my wife to pack a 50 caliber handgun. That was after I shot and killed a wolf that was over 8 ft. Walked on its hind legs. Had a haunting aurora about it even when dead. The officer said I should not say anything no photos. He said Cherokee have been at war with these things 2000 yrs. He said these are Devil made according to Elders. Wife descendent. In Michigan we are required to but silencer to be on shooting range. I also have laser I can drop a moose at 300 yds. Some states illegal, he said hide it save your life. I took him out at 50 yds eye shot blew off top of his head. Officer told me if he could of gotten to us he would of ripped us limb for limb. 😮.

You are correct about trails changing. Old Walker is very sketchy. The last time we saw it, I would not take my rig across it.

It should be grouped in the DBBB. I will check this morning.
Hello, any idea how much clearance is required to drive this trail?
Not exactly sure of exact clearance
do you think a stock outback wilderness could do this trail?
Take your time, and you should be fine. The hardest parts are shown on the video. Check the creeks for high water before going through.
