- Julie - Julie Andrews in Concert (Tokyo, 1977)
Big Thanks to @julieandrewsforever8753 !

Host: Hideaki Nitani
“Last concert tonight. I had a lump in my throat when I sang, “I’d Rather Leave While I’m in Love.” The dearest moment of the evening was when my sweet musicians shuffled into my dressing room after the show and presented me with a white bomber jacket, with “Julie - 1977 Japanese Tour” inscribed on the back.”
Excerpt From: Julie Andrews. “Home Work”
Elegance, style and grace. And a voice that is perfection in any song. One can hear her countless times and countless times feel captive by this marvelous singer. A truly star in any field.
‘Somewhere’ is sublime. The interpretation, the dynamics, the technique… that last note. Perfection.
Julie has always been, and she will always stay my very favourite singer.
I’m very happy to have many people all over the world to know about this great show. The Host Hideaki Nitani (二谷英明)was a famous actor in Japan, who unfortunately had died in 2012. This show was held at Tokyo Imperial Hotel around September 1977. The admission fee was so high that I couldn't go there, but fortunately I was able to leave it in the video. I'm really happy to see this video for many people.
I googled the host. Did he only host this one show? Or did he go with Julie to host everywhere?

He moderated this one show only. Other shows were done by the invitee company.
Hideaki Nitani at that time hosted a famous weekly TV program called “Top Star Show”(トップスターショー). This weekly program was very famous as the program with the highest ratings. However, I don't remember the foreign star like Julie's show (except only Frank Sinatra) that were broadcast exclusively during the golden time.
Ah! Thank you! (We were wondering about which city this was in, but if he only moderated this one, then it was definitely Tokyo and not Osaka (where the LP record is from). 🙂

That's right. Julie's tour was held eight times in Tokyo(4), Osaka(2), Sapporo and Fukuoka while in Osaka It was recorded to LP album. At the same time, it was completely broadcast in Osaka MBS radio(毎日放送). I uploaded this one: th-cam.com/video/93ylvm8VkSc/w-d-xo.html&t
@@julieandrewsforever8753 was the 1980 and the 1992 shown on TV also?
Beautiful
Oh wow. I had this on audio tape years ago. I wore it out. Oh she was such a role model for me as a young kid. She taught me so much about music. Her beauty, talent, her angelic pure personage is irreplaceable. Thank you for this. I have so many good memories that come flooding back. Long Live our gorgeous Queen,
I ❤ Julie Andrews is still alive loved it.
That is singing.perfect control of air.
That is a very good statement, Javier! Not only did Julie have an exceptional range, she phrased so perfectly that she was never at a loss for breath - always holding notes for the appropriate length.
She supported her amazing voice properly. There is a reason for this, too. She received exceptional training from early in her career (8 years old or earlier). It makes a huge difference in her later successes.
@@marksnschwartz7190 her diction, was also so perfect could hear every word, while taking breathes and not loosing track of the music.
I love this concert. It is one of my favourites. Julie is wonderful and I like the songs she is singing. Especially her last song " I'd rather leave when I'm in love " brings tears to my eys. I could listen to it over and over again.
Mine, too. Which is why I play the record like once a week. :)

This is the best recording of this concert out there. Her voice is so clean, fresh yet powerful, and uplifting. Thank you posting. I wish she hadnt left out This is My Beloved in this venue. I find her version of it to be exquisite and she sounds so good singing it.
It’s just marvelous. Tk you for your generosity in posting it.
I am currently listening to this concert on vinyl (a Christmas present from me to me) and it's magical. My first listen and now thanks to this video I can see it too :)
Fantastic
Thanks for this wonderful clip...at the time an audio cd from RCA gave us so superb sound but is rare to find now....
I'm glad you're here.

❤️Thank You❤️
💕💯👏👏👏
Her 1977 and 1993 were both on radio and live TV. Does anyone know if her 1980 and 1992 Japanese concert tours were also televised?
If anyone would know (or can navigate japanese websites), it would be @JulieAndrews forever!

Julie's Japan Tour had NO TV in 1980&1992 in Japan.Only 30 minutes radio program in Japan.
Thank you! That’s good to know as we’re still searching for it. 😀
