Please clean up Lagos. When our people go to London, New York, Paris, they love the cities, how the roads are wide and well laid out with trees and flowers. The same people will build on the perimeter space between the buildings and the main road, the same people will not respect building and environmental codes

You sound like you have problems with Nigerians who went abroad to hustle, and returned back home to build a shelter for themselves?

It is not the responsibility of ordinary people to put into place a legislation that guarantees a legal procedure of building a house.
It is the duty of the government, if we have any?

It's hard to descern accurate information about this because of those inflaming the situation. My friend, who is from Lagos state, built in Badagry and had to negotiate with his own relatives to keep them from destroying his house. Right now in Enugu Centinary City, homes are being demolished. The issue is across the board. The process needs to be clarified and codified in law by governments. People also need to stop taking shortcuts and follow rules -many build where they should not by bribing unscrupulous government officials. It is complicated and not on just the government. In any case, Landlords and builders, not tenants should be the ones to face hardship when corrections are being made.

Sanwo-Olu needs to deal with this fairly otherwise his reputation is at stake in history. What is the illegal nature - drainage? substandard buildings? pre-zoned areas? People should definitely know why their house is being razed down and the man makes a good point about adding to the homeless in an already tight economy. This man seems straightforward so I think he's telling the plain truth. And even if they are in the wrong, if you see people bought something out of good intention and have developed, at least handle with care and help people figure out next steps. Not to just come in demolish and move on.

Has Channels TV or other News Media researched the correlation between Lagos areas that voted heavily for Peter Obi and the residential and business property demolition patterns by Sanwo-Olu? For example, Eti-Osa is one of the areas that voted heavily for Peter Obi, if I'm not mistaken. Could this whole demolition madness by Sanwo-Olu be some form of vengeful retaliation against Igbos and other Lagos residents who voted massively for Peter Obi, and against APC?

You’re commenting as if you have seen where court works in Nigeria especially since this administration came to power. It’s so sad, the governor needs to please put a stop to this.

There is HARDLY free land anywhere in Lagos state. Before you see free, unallocated lands, you will go beyond Epe, Ikorodu areas. Before you buy or build, do your due diligence. With a population of over 23 million, the struggle for land or building is like a war. Even federal, state, LGAs are fighting land owners in some cases all the way to supreme court. Some of the cases have dragged on for decades without resolution. BEWARE

You Chanel’s Tv asking questions, don’t you people have investigative journalists to unravel this rubbish going on in lagos, Land Grabbers and the lagos govt is not doing anything about it… what a rubbish who does that really , sue the government and all involved. Take them to international criminal court

      International criminal Court, mumu

    • @Laygos
      @Laygos 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

In the countries that promote international criminal courts, if you build illegally the following will happen to you....
You will be told to remove your own building within a specific period of time, usually weeks...
If you fail, then they will do it for you, and give the bill of tearing your house down...
If you fail to pay, you will end up court...
You will then be criminalised, you pay up and/or go to years in jail...
If you have other assets, it would be siezed and auctioned, because the public money spent to remive your house must be returned.
If you don't it is true search the internet... Google: "breaking planning permission rules", or "illegal building or structures" .
That is why their countries look better than Nigeria.
      WELL DONE LAGOS STATE.

WHY is it that the press NEVER ask the owners of these properties... Why did they disobey the LAW?
Many Nigerians still think they can negotiate their way out of breaking the law.

They bought from the family that owns the area directly not through third party, are there any real property laws ? . Are u aware that even the governor could not overide a family threathning to demolish a massive part of magodo? Any one can come uo with sime spurios judgement from the supreme court and immediately start demolishing property it the law of the powerful.

So sad, the Lagos authorities and mayors using their power to destroy Nigerian house owners or disposses citizens of their property ,what a shame, causing untold misery . Why does the mayor not use that energy and ressources to drench the water ways that cause floods in Lagos or repair principal potholes and broken roads of some highly populated residential areas ,

True. The only thing that can give you peace of mind, is getting a verified agent to do your due diligence for you, or you move beyond epe and ikorodu axis, even there you still need to do a thorough due diligence. Then you will be sure you have a high value property with peace in your heart. You land and property is not what you leave to chance.

These people should get good lawyers and go to Court to defend their property and infestment and should be compensated and those involved in the destruction should face the law. This does not look right in any Civilezed Country with rule of Law. This action is creating housing shortages and handship for the Citizens.

Governance throughout the whole World is all about the welfare of the Citizens, even in the face of contravention, any well meaning and not Dracula Government shoul temper justice with mercy and apply reasonable sanction with empathy and human feeling. Where do you want these people to start from? Is this an act of patriotism and nation building? Do you really care about the Life and what becomes of these people? Haba! Why destroy lives on the pretext of saving it? ..... Nigeria my Country 😮

@@HassanTaiwo-r7r i am on the internet currently looking for a land plan for ikorodu and epe, no public information. Developers would do their own due diligence and have partly true documents and sell to unsuspecting victims. Those houses are worth millions of investment, the value of each individual reconstructing can help afford a redesign of a drainage Path, of which it could be underground.
This thing of people houses getting demolished has existed since 1999, but till date, information about lands in Lagos is not readily available.
