I love living vicariously and traveling thousands of miles with you and Shady through your videos, that's how these vlogs make me feel. They're an escape, a break from the boring normalcy of my academic life, and they make me think that maybe, just maybe, some day in the future, I'll drop anchor right along side White Shadow and wave across the sea to the Old Seadog...far enough away of course so I don't risk dragging anchor into Shady haha.
See you out there! Sends shivers down my spine. Just like as we were kids going outside to seek new adventures, you can do it when you're older too I learned from seadog. Have a good one outside and don't let the bedbugs bite.

Great channel, just found you. As am I, I guess you`re from the south of the UK, and at 63 I`m planning to get the hell out of `modern life` drop off the radar and start living for real. Buying a boat, so to see yourself living the dream is truly an inspiration for me. I read somewhere that a bad day on the ocean is way better than a good day on land.. Age actually is just a number, and any day of freedom is better than any other to my mind. While I`m planning mine, I`ll follow yours! Bloody well done Sir!
Barry you are a legend. You are doing it. You could be sitting at the start line waiting to repair and renew every last park of that boat before you move. Instead you are charging balls to the wall into the worlds oceans like a beast. Keep getting at it mate.
Appreciate all your filming, I know how hard that is to do especially under sail I’ve a dear friend Capn Mitch we’ve sailed the Salish sea for many years now, we started out helping crew on a 36 foot catch “Shiree”an old wooden boat with a concrete keel slow in light wind but strong as an ox when the breeze got to blowing, we’re now on a 32 foot sloop “Xylona” built in 76 perfect for us we have a lot of memories from those years..owned by me Capn. Mitch, she handles all these inland seas can throw at her , a fine vessel. We had a wild night sail off everett one windy winter night with the rain blowing in sideways and a few deadheads in the bay that come down the snohomish river when we get excessive rains sometimes they group up and these look like raged floating hulks to be avoided especially in the dark, we were cruising along near and about seven knots around the windward side of hat island when me Capn lost his cap in a sudden gust of wind, we had the capns son on board with a couple of friends all ex military coast guard trained who wanted to do a man over board drill to recover me capns dear hat. But me Capn being the brains of the crew new better than risk life n limb in the white capped waters with no spotlight ordered the crew to remain on course, shortly after this we sighted one of those conglomerate deadheads off the port bow, glad we weren’t doing a man overboard drill while drifting into that mess. But in all it was truly one of those fantastic sails to be had on this Salish Sea. Steven77audette@gmail.com

I’m trying to figure out who’s tougher, you or Shaddy? I remember back to your first video and how you fell for that boat. It seems it’s s perfect match! May she protect you, keep you pointing in the right direction, and keep your journey going, you two were definitely made to be together. Hopefully your still sailing by the time I get my butt out on the ocean? Have to wait until my kids are a bit older, but the sea is calling me home and your letting me live vicariously through you until I get there.

Nice to see the extra footage from the other boat at the end of the video. After you left the anchorage at the start and were worried about the rocks you must have felt great when the sun rose the next day! ... pity about the rogue wave, but glad you made it safely to Fakarava :) Enjoy your stay, get things repaired if you can, and then safe passage. Barry you gotta Dive or Snorkel the south entrance of Fakarava on the in coming tide , its some of the BEST Reef in the world . truly Fantastic .
