  • It's rough, but I recorded it and it's worth sharing. Audio sucks especially on the 1st third but it gradually gets better. Next ones will be sharper. Please let me know if this was helpful!
@levelbevel on instagram and let me know which effect I should tackle next.

the vertex map keeps crashing my project when i add it

hmmm. Not sure what could be up. You could try re-installing C4d, check the latest updates, or start a new project file and do one step at a time. You might have already done that.. I haven't tried this method in a while, but it's pretty reliable.

Hmm, off the top of my head it seems like it's your vertex map is inverted? Try and get the yellow where the red is and vice versa. Sometimes it gets buggy maybe with vertex maps too, so perhaps start over with a fresh scene. Finally.. this is from a few years ago, new Cinema has been updated a bunch.. perhaps it's a setting that has changed. Hope that helps!

Hey, thanks for this tutorial!! But I have a question...everything worked well when I rendered each frame in Live Viewer.
However, the vertex map didn't work when rendered in the Picture Viewer. Have you met this problem?

I have solution for you my friend. First of all you need to delete your "subdivision surface" object from sceene after that just use "Octane object tag" on your main object and you good to go.

after I add a vertex map to the displacer, nothing works

Had the same problem. At 1:50 I didn't check "use fields" in the Basic tab for anyone else that might have this problem.

Amazing thank you, how would I mirror this in Redshift? Redshift doesn't have mix materials, or at least not that I am aware of, how would I assign the materials to the vertex map in Redshift?

Amazing technique! It caused me so much time to figure out how to make a transition between two different materials in Octane. Most of the tutorials are talking about RedShift..
