For some reason the field force just makes the entire object disappear. Any thoughts on why this is?

Hey man, I was having the same issue and it was because of the Gravity. Do "Cntrl D" on the inspector, go to "Simulation", and check you have "Gravity 0 cm" there. It's the 13:57 part on the video. Hope is that!
