  • Religion and homosexuality are not incompatible. In fact, they need each other in a democratic and secular society.
Dr. Leonardo Raznovich obtained a LL.B. from the University of Buenos Aires in 1995, a LL.M. from Harvard Law School in 1997 and a doctorate degree from Oxford University in 2004. He was Head of Law (2008-2010) and principal lecturer in law (until 2012) at Canterbury Christ Church University in the UK where and also served as Convenor of the Legal Education Section of the Society for Legal Scholars Conference in the U.K. for the triennium 2009/2011.
Leo is currently a law lecturer at the Cayman Islands Law School where he teaches evidence, EU law, jurisprudence and dispute resolution. As an attorney at law in practice since 1995 in Argentina and called to the Bar in England in 2010, he gained experience in a wide range of commercial matters and more recently also public law matters, in particular, in cases involving human right issues in the area of LGBT equality.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

Good job here, Leonardo, at looking at the early evolution of the Roman Catholic's viewpoints on sexuality. I hope that your talk opens a few eyes.

My ancestors are Jewish and fled to England to escape persecution in Portugal and I identify as homosexual so basically I was the crusades nightmare and people like me and my ancestors have been persecuted for a while

@Dominik Rodriguez If you're such a genius than you should know that while the most frequent surnames in Argentina are Spanish and Italian, there's a lot more to Argentina than that: Medem (Arabic), Capitanich, Pizarnik (both Eastern European & Jewish)...

I loved everything about this! :) Especially when he said "womens" ;) Man, History can trip you up when you finally get educated. All the ways your people are oppressed, and all the ways your people have oppressed others.

Professor Raznovich is great ! His tireless work and activism is as important as Peter Tachel's activism.Homophobia is real and its painful for those who meet it .The fight for equal rights must go on! Great job Professor !

I looked up gay rights in the Cayman Islands, and, sadly, the islands still have some way to go legally in terms of gay rights, as do many islands in the Caribbean. The international organization All Out has been working for gay rights in the Caribbean, most recently in the Dutch islands, and elsewhere in the world. You can learn more at its website:
