The “embrace the darkness” parts are actually very interesting to me.
I think they’re going to really play with the fact that the Jedi were, maybe, too rigid on insisting emotional detachment and never giving into anger. But that attitude causes it to bubble up and burst sometimes, as with Anakin.
Whereas Cal will be contrasted with Anakin. Embracing the fact he is human and flawed, without striving for a perfection that ultimately drives him completely insane.
Ahh i like that perspective. My prediction is if/when they make a third Jedi game everything you just said is gonna play into a final showdown between Cal and Vader and we’ll really see that contrast between Cal and Anakin
Yeah that paranoia of falling into emotion was the Jedi Order’s major problem. Some Jedi maybe able to do that but not all and noncompliance leads to shame from the Order which is dumb.
I feel like wherever the Jedi are taken next, it should be one where succumbing to anger and the dark side is not entirely a bad thing
No the dark side is always a danger for the jedi. Cal didn't try to supress his emotions yet he felt the temptation of the dark side anyway. He only let go because of Merrin. If not for her he would have killed that imperial officer in cold blood. She tells him to talk to her if he ever feels the lure of the dark side again. She speaks like it is an addition, and it is.
Luke’s attachment and emotion for his friends and family was why he was able to beat Vader and resist Palpatine’s manipulation. It’s also why Anakin overcame the Dark Side and saved Luke and helped free the Galaxy.
@@GrivianWho cares if it was in cold blood? He’s an Imperial Officer, he’s been involved with mass murders, extortion, coercion, and he was responsible for Cere’a death, and deaths of Cere’s allies.
When I played though this boss fight, I was not expecting Cal to shoot twice at the end

Probably wanted to make Bode suffer with that first shot, but realizing that’s just petty cruelty, put him down with the second.

The moment Bode shattered that bridge right out from under his daughter's feet (and later when he pushed her into that rubble), all my sympathy for him went straight out the window. It went from "he's doing horrible things, but I can understand his reasons and the tragedy this situation is creating" to "he's so far gone he's actively a danger to his own kid, and needs to be stopped for everyone's own good."
Yea when I saw that I was like surely he knows his daughter could’ve easily fallen. Also I’ll be so honest w you, my sympathy for him left the second he turned on us he was a marked man from there on😂

Absolutely, realistically Bode could’ve shared Tanalor with the others but he was so afraid of his daughter being harmed (understandably) that he couldn’t even do that

@@DromusTH Yea like I’ve heard ppl say “Why couldn’t Bode just share Tanalor?” Which at first glance is a valid question, but if the Hidden Path used it basically as an army base against the Empire they would’ve been no way to guarantee her safety like you said
@@kingkagegaming Let's not forget in the past, the enemy were somehow able to get to Tanalor, which mean eventually a traitor would appear and very likely leak the information to the empire.

Got to love the fact that Bode gives Cal the weapon he uses to kill him in the end. He knew it was unorthodox for a jedi, but that cal needed every advantage against the empire. Gotta love it.
Could also symbolize Cal straying from that orthodox Jedi path, and being that Bode is a big reason for that, him giving Cal that gun was like him rubbing off on Cal too
@@kingkagegamingYeah, safe to say Cal’s been straying from that path the whole game. He tried following it and all it led to was failure and friends dying or stabbing you in the back. That’s why he can use the dark side now…

SAME. Cordova got shot in the stomach then blown up and all cere could say was he’s dead. Plus the whole nova garon thing was mainly for cere anyway.
He didn't had a choice in the end. Bode was to unstable to keep him alive. He was the real treat for everyone, even his own daughtet

In the end Malicos was right, the Jedi fell because they were unwilling to use and study the dark side. Cal could have learned a lot from him.

😂Yea I had mine with the white handle and gold trim it was my favorite design in the whole playthrough lol
This and some othrr boss fights where hard, i had to do a lot of jumping and dodging and attacking specifically not in that order but the jumping over the enemy then hitting them in the back was satisfying
To be completely honest with you I died like 2-3 times during this fight I just edited the deaths out this fight was trying me😂😂
@@kingkagegaming I don't blame you. I gave up after three tries yesterday. Had my fingers killed (after speedrunning Mega Man 9) lol :) I'll do it later! Might do a video too haha. This is just so fun and very challenging - even on Jedi Knight!

@@kingkagegaming Thank you. I think so too. I took so much damage to the "grab - bomb" attack when I fought him. I was honestly doing a live stream on Twitch of it and it was just before bedtime - after the 3rd death - which was past midnight - I decided to end it there lol.
However I love Tanalorr so much! I wish they gave us more to see of it before facing Bode. Kata is such a sweethear of a child. Too bad she had to experience a dad like Bode. I must say the game overall is excellent in many ways and probably the best Star Wars game since KOTOR (I completely loved Fallen Order and was hyped for its sequel).
Good fight but I still think this should’ve been Cal vs Dagan, would’ve been great to end the game against him on Tanalor
I feel that actually, like don’t get me wrong the plot twist was really well done imo but I was kinda expecting Dagan to be the main villain especially since he had a deeper connection w Tanalor than Bode
@@kingkagegaming Exactly my thoughts, and especially the way that final fight with him went where Cal used the vision of Santari Khri against him, would’ve been perfection to end him on Tanalor

Dagan Gera and Bode are both mirrors to Cal. Dagan was betrayed by the council, and resented them. His loss of tanalor consumed him. Bode was betrayed by the republic, and the one person he attached to was murdered because of him. He became obsessed with protecting his daughter (family). Cal is betrayed and alone, but what sets him apart, and I know it's cliche, is the power of friendship.

I’m glad you don’t really notice the voice lines when you’re doing this boss fight because some of them are a little too comically evil for what they’re trying to do with bode. They’re a bit too evil and generic like “die now” is a bit silly, and I’m not one to care about that sort of thing in my magic space western game
Lol yea I definitely didn’t notice, but it wouldn’t be the first time Star Wars would be guilty of that especially in the originals

Any advice for this fight? Currently stuck on him. Blocking, dodging, and jumping only go so far. Not to mention, fighting him post dark side is basically impossible on my end. Can only land one hit for every 10-15 hits from him.
Honestly this fight took me like 3 tries I just edited it into one so I definitely get where you’re coming from lol.
The best advice I can give is don’t rush it, take that one hit you can and don’t get greedy. He’s pretty quick and has long and short range from what I remember so it’s best to just play it as safe as possible
Also don’t go too crazy with the dark side, from my experience that’s a good way to get baited in. It might take awhile but I’d say just be extra safe, take the hit you can get in and then back off until the next opening
Using darkside was actually quite hard, I could barely make out the outline when he goes for the unblockable attacks. I found the best stances for him were the single saber and blaster stances (used the blaster when Merrin would grab him). Cross guard was much too slow and as he mentioned it’s not worth trying to go for the extra couple hits so there goes dual.
Also for his his move with the bombs, I pulled him into it. Be careful though cause he comes flying forward like the purge troopers so let the bombs run their timer down before you do that. His other move where sets down the electrocharge and spins his lightsaber towards you, you can pick up the charge and throw it back at him.
Have the perks that increases your block stamina and increases block stamina damage on enemies. I also use the perk that increases lightsaber damage but also increases damage to you. Sure you take more damage but it is worth it. The lightsaber throw damage perk is also good and is complemented by the other perks.
As for weapons I always use the single bladed lightsaber for bosses. It is in my opinion the overall best weapon because it can do everything well. I has good damage per swing, it's relatively fast and good defense. But the best part is its force abilities. Jump slash, perfect after an unblockable. Dash strike, great when you need to get closer fast (his block stamina is low). Always parry his normal moves and dash the unblockables.
Another tip is to lift him with power lift. Then you can supercharge your lightsaber throw and do alot of damage. I beat him in one try with this on jedi master.

Man this betrayal hurt me bad I liked Bode. But what i find interesting is “embracing the dark side” options in the end. The Jedi Order is gone. It seems tapping into the dark side will be more acceptable in the future. Which means Anakin was never wrong when he embraced the dark side. They are 2 natures of the same force, but the same force all together. It is said Purple lightsaber wielders use both good and dark sides of the force. I hope we see more of those. Also I want a game where we can play as Revan or other Sith Lords. I love Star Wars but I have always been a Darksider 😈
Yea I can definitely see a hypothetical 3rd game letting you embrace the dark side more as Cal, maybe even in a way that influences how the game end. I can see the purple lightsaber thing being true too bc Mace Windu didn’t wanna let Palpatine live in ROTS if I remember correctly

I never understood how people got so many stims, so I only found 2 extra stims. In turn I had to do the whole fight with only 4 stims 😭😭😭
I didn’t record it but I spent some time in between missions just googling where all the atoms specifically bc I knew I was gonna struggle😂

It was the normal difficulty if I remember correctly
Bode was a tough cookie, he was the only boss who ever managed to kill me. I died once to him before managing to beat him. The only other boss I ever struggled with was that giant toad thing. Even the rancour I managed without dying thanks to a tip I found out about with Force pushing a bone into its mouth which stuns is briefly to do good damage to it. But you can only do it once but it still gives you a good lead in damage on him.
I also always dawned the yellow crystal most the game as well as the orange. The orange overall is my favorite though with yellow being secondary. I also feel like Cal would be a orange or yellow lightsaber user. It suits him. I also went with duel wielding and double sided build.
@@shannonmichael4773 Yea the dual wield/double side was mainly what I used before this too, I wish I could’ve gotten the hang of the crossguard but it wasn’t quite for me lol. And yea Bode was easily the hardest fight, Cere’s fight against Vader wasn’t that hard for me😂

Unless you have a save file from before that you can’t go back, I had to learn the hard way multiple times lol

Boss fights are always the same in the series. Block, parry or dodge. They basically gimp your force powers. Also why does the with/jedi bosses have move cal can never learn and use. There should be a force tree for boss encounters. Fights get boring and one dimensional
i just beat this fight and i used charged force lift, force push, and force pull successfully. Force slam staggers but isn't very useful. You have to have them upgraded with the "works on stronger enemies" abilities
Your skills are tragic, constantly getting hit and not dodging the red attacks. 🤦♂️
