2013 was the year Faker first won worlds, fast forward to 2023 which is 10 years later and Faker just won his fourth. He's an actual GOD. not just a legend.
It wasn't rough in my opinion. You just had to know how to use the resources you had. With gold-generating runes, philosopher's stone, and heart of gold, I'd frequently buy 10+ green and around 3 pink wards (sightstone didn't exist until S3 changes if I recall correctly) each time I backed. I'd choke enemy vision, so the team could push advantages, take objectives. You rinse and repeat the buys for an early win. My support account consistently hit 2k elo and had always placed in diamond once the tiers started. The vision game in the past three or so seasons has been a lot less interesting with vision caps and a change in focal dynamics at different phases. Objectives can be traded more easily now, making it hard to really prevent competent enemy teams from staying close without the assistance of other team members. Support has changed to be a snowball or teamfight enabler depending on the team's flavor. Fun enough, I guess; but I miss the vision wars.

Can we also appreciate how good the LemonDogs were for a Rookie team? They were able to get the first seed in the split and they swept gambit gaming in the semi-finals before they were defeated by fnatic in the finals.

Back then, teams used to switch top and bot lane so that they could rush the tower and deny the top laners as much as possible in the early game. I believe riot changed how much damage turrets take early game among meta changes have caused the decline of the strategy.
Nick Dadar Yeah the strat disappeared when top and mid towers take reduced damage for first 5 mins, with bot towers being weak. Along with first blood tower discouraging early lane swaps. You still see swaps e.g. worlds play ins there have been a lot but it's not as early as it used to be.
Need the assassin meta back. Im so fucking bored of the current meta. Mid laners are just clearing machines. U cant one shot anybody anymore unless you are Zoe. They took away DMG, then re-work Leblanc, mages are just poking and clearing now.
