Purchased the Sportage GT Line HEV in September after working my way up from Picanto, Rio, Stonic and Niro. It’s by far the best KIA I have had. My current dealer has offered me an unbelievable deal to trade it in this March for an identical model in Flame Blue and an added bonus of heated seats for £5 per week more than I’m currently paying 🤪 it was a no brainer. I have basically got back what I paid for it 4 1/2 months ago. The hybrid market is mental currently, I didn’t lose anything on the Niro HEV prior to this Sportage either 🤯 Forget full EV, hybrid is the way to go, resale value is incredible. I personally love the styling of the new Sportage from any angle and the powder coated wheels are much easier to look after than diamond cut. Best mileage to date 54.1 MPG, average mileage 44.3 MPG. Hybrid comes into its own around town, it’s surprising how far it will go on just the tiny battery before the ICE cuts in. Sport mode livens things up nicely 😉 I honestly can’t see me swapping from the Sportage GT Line HEV for a long time to come, it ticks all the boxes
I have been trawling here and elsewhere for a review of the U.K. GT Line for months and this review is the very first one to concentrate on this particular U.K. version… Your review is hands down the best one I’ve seen on YT and gives anyone not looking to buy the top of the line GT Line S, a far better understanding of this lower spec version….. I would have liked to know more about the quality of the speakers but to be fair I have never heard any reviews talk about the speaker system. Just for clarification, the smaller 18’ wheels in your video are only on the HEV of this version, the petrol and MHEV of this version (GT Line) get the same 19’ wheels as you get on the GT Line S version. Thank You so much for a fantastic review and the first proper review of the GT Line version…… I hope this review will get the views it deserves… 👍👍👍👏👏👏
Hey Pete, Awsome thank you so much for leaving us a comment 🤗 really appreciate the kind words too. Thanks for letting us know about the wheels didn’t realise that. It just goes to show how amazing the GT line is without having to spend too much more to get the next trim level up! Thanks for chatting with us 👍🏽
Great review, nice to see a spec range without the usual car reviewers who only present top of the range models.Carefully explained cost and spec differrences to justify purchasing this particular Sportage.........best review of the GT Line i have seen to date, well done, keep up the good work.
Thanks so much Philip for the positive comment. We do try our best to see what these cars are all about and show our findings to help people make their decisions when looking for a new car! Thanks for chatting with us 🤗
Awaiting a 2024 Kia Sportage GT Line here in Australia. My wife drove one and fell in love with it. Will be 4-5 weeks delivery, and a week or so of towbar, nudge bar, window tinting and paint protection application before she gets it.
Had my Sportage GT-Line S now for about 8 months and loving it. Mine is in Dark Penta Metal with the optional black roof, which I reckon is a better mix with the chrome at the back. The GT-Line HEV and the S HEV have the same 18” wheels (19”on the PHEV). I went for the S as I wanted the sunroof, electric seats and the Dual LED smart headlights as well as the Smart power tailgate along with many other extras that the S has over the GT-Line. Sure if you want to keep the cost down, then the GT-Line is a great car, and will save on the extra VED, but I just love the bells and whistles of the S 👍
Thanks so much for this comment! It’s great to hear from real world owners and listen to their stories. You are absolutely right if you can afford to go for the GT line S you get all the bells and whistles and that’s great. But if it is a stretch too far for some. They can still feel great knowing they have a superb car in the gt line. Appreciate you taking the time to leave us a message thank you 🤗
This is an awesome car that I bought one. Thank you for a wonderful review. I bought the 2023 Kia Sportage SX Prestige AWD Hybrid. I love it. Mine is coming in another month. It has the best 1.6L Turbo engine with the Hybrid engine at 38MPG. I am very impressed with all of it. So many features. The Panoramic sunroof is simple awesome. It is built very well with great quality. The LED projector lights are very bright and go very far. The engine is very quick and quiet. No road noise at all. Thank you for your honest review.
I have the KIA Sportage HEV FWD GT-LINE S, after a wait of 13 months from order. Had it 3 weeks so far and on a recent 40 mile journey the car reported 51.8 mpg. Still learning the tech but so far so good. You will not normally notice the swap over from EV to engine and back to EV . 19:20
I ordered this GT model six month wait, extra 5/6k for the S seems a lot for a few extras . This model will suit us perfectly as the wife will be doing a lot of town driving.Thought this review was great well done and thanks for the info.
I have tte 48v MHEV.. On a longer run, 30+ miles etc... I can get 46 MPG! Set to Eco mode, with smooth acceleration & breaking.. Sailing mode comes on, coasting etc... goes well & saves you fuel... Also, it's the GT-LINE S 4wd drive version! So, I'd imagine if I drove the 2wd version I'd get even better mpg!... Still I'm happy with 46mpg
I ordered mine in December 2023 and took delivery in May 2024, NQ5 2024 Build, took 25 weeks which was well worth the wait I can confidently assure you that you will not be disappointed
Awsome. And how have you been getting on with it? Not sure they will do a diesel hev especially here in Uk. I’d prob just stick with a normal diesel. Thanks for sharing and chatting to us 🤗
Just order the plug in gt line , in the blue , finally a review that actually shows the pound for pound best model not just top of the range , thanks man , great review , buzzing for my delivery date 😂
Hey Terry thanks for the kind words man! Much appreciated. I bet you can’t wait for yours to arrive. You are going to love it! Thanks for chatting to us 🤗
This is by a huge margin the worst piece of crap I've ever driven, after 10000 miles of driving it's only redeeming feature is it has decent brakes. It's not worth plugging in unless you get free electricity as it's cheaper to run on petrol, the touchscreen is almost as dim witted as the gearbox, the driving aids only serve to make the driving experience as distracting as possible, the overall quality is embarrassing for a £40000 car, I could go on but I would end up writing a novel, I can't wait to hand it back.
I have PHEV GTLS. Why? Lots of local miles plus solar = free fuel. GTLS star features: 360 camera fab when parking and matrix headlights let you keep main beam on when other cars are around (it turns off just the area where the other cars are). Love the appearance, ride, tech, economy and more!
Thank you for an excellent and extensive review of the GT Line HEV Sportage. I've been trying to find a decent UK review of this spec (and there are not many out there), but this one comes to the fore 😊. There are always several reviews on the GT Line S (which many of us may not be able to afford the luxury tax price bracket), but it is always good to have the option to compare both specs. Many thanks for this review and will you be doing further reviews on the other features in the GT Line, such as the screen, the settings or the infotainment system? I must say, I do like the overall design of the Sportage but as you say, it's all about your preference....
Excellent, honest and, fortunately for me. a favourable review as I ordered a GT Line HEV auto today, before watching it. At least I won't be suffering from 'buyers remorse'! Personally, I like the 'aggressive' front end and I am happy with the looks of the rear. I'm moving from a 70 plate Skoda Karoq SE L which I've been delighted with (although it's beginning to look a bit dated now and there's no EV or hybrid option currently) whilst the Sportage GT Line is fresh, modern looking and packed with useful tech. The KIA salesman concurred with the Car Chat reviewer that the GT Line is the model to go for and I agree. Can't wait for delivery which is due just before Christmas '23😀Thanks for the video - very helpful and reassuring 👍
I went to buy a 3 and ended up with the GT Line. The GT Line has the face lifted front, better interior (dark black and leather swede seats, D shaped GT Line steering wheel, aluminum sport pedals), so all in all better looks inside out. The 3 gets the full lcd driver display (not needed if you don't have the blind spot camera which the 3 doesn't) and you get heated rear seats in the 3. So the GT Line is the better buy. You just need to visit the dealer and see the two specs side by side as most prefer the GT Line for these reasons. It's only a £1K price difference but with dealer discounts the 3 is typically just £500 more than the GT Line. Note that it doesn't have the glossy black trim and any wax accidentally applied to the non glossy black trim remains engraved. The 3 looks cheaper than the GT Line trims!
My personal opinion is I like the rear of the car and the side profile is okay and so is most of the front apart from what were they thinking with the bog eye headlights and how small they have made them. My other complaint about the car is if you wanted and most of us do use Apple Carplay or Android Auto you need to connect your phone by wire what is that all about after all the other tech added to the car. Also 6 speed auto gear boxes added to the top models of the car and screaming 1.6 engines especially in the top of the range cars with the extra weight with more options on board. Come on Kia sort it out.
Great review, Oliver! Quick question - how come you spent this review comparing the GT Line to the GT Line S and not comparing the GT Line to the 3? Cheers!
Thanks Rluke for the comment 🤗 great question, I think we just wanted to show the differences in cost from the top trim level to what you get in the GT line and showcase that you might not need all the extra features you get from the top trim down to GT line. Sure it’s nice to be able to afford it if you can. But we think that the GT line trim is the best option for most. Appreciate you taking the time to chat with us 👍🏽
My Sportage HEV is giving 51 MPG n local and 54 MPG on the motorway. Not much chance of getting your foot down in the midlands but keeping up with the traffic flow gives very good MPG. This car is far better than the Land Rover Discovery Sport that I had.
@@savarok I am still getting great mpg for my Sportage HEV. It’s dropped a bit to around 48.5 mpg average after the first 1000 miles. The only thing I don’t like is the Lane Assist which is a bit aggressive if you go over the white lines. This can be switched off, but you need to do this every time you start the engine.
Ah very nice! I think the 30th anniversary edition has Gloss black exterior accents, enhanced acoustic laminated glass and meticulously crafted suede seats add to Sportage’s premium appeal. So it will be much quieter inside than the other sportage’s. Thanks for chatting and sharing with us🤗
Amazing review. Ordered mine beginning of February. Hopefully getting it in April. Can anyone here say how long it usually takes to arrive? Not that I'm impatient, but I just want my Kia now 😂
Amazing thanks for the kind words Darren! Ha ha I get that you want it now. You will love it. Let us know what you get mpg. Thanks for chatting. Hope to speak again 🤗
Just went in and completed my order. They initially said a wait of 3 months, but was offered to receive it for September which will come with a 24 plate. Super excited but upset I have to let my Niro go
Hey thanks for the comment. Really appreciate you sharing what you get. This definitely helps others see what other real world users are getting. Thanks for chatting with us 🤗
Thank you so much for watching! And leaving us a comment very kind of you. That’s a great question. I think if you could afford the extra outlay for the plug in, it would reward you more over time in savings especially if you are doing short journeys and can just use the EV mode. And plug in every night when you get in. I would deffo chose that if my journeys were small Daily. The HEV in this spec is great value though and that’s why it’s super popular. Have you made a decision yet? Thanks for sharing 🤗
@@CarChatTV thx for your answer. I'm leaning towards the Plug-in version and one of the reasons is the one you mentioned, but the purchase will be made in a few months. Then I will give feedback. Cheers.
Glad I found this channel, an excellent review, so much information was provided. Well done 👍. Some of the interior /exterior filming of vehicle needs to be better lit as it was a bit dark. However all in all, an excellent presentation. Thank you.
Can get this Sportage spec through Motability. The style, quality, power and handling seem excellent. However, for the disabled and infirm it does lack options: electric seats, electric tailgate, 360 degree cameras, blind spot assist, wireless mobile connectivity.
seen lots of people complaining about these 2022-2023 kia sportage cars.....their engine faild their 7dct gearbox shaking and needing service in the first year or ownership....is this car plagued with issues?
Yeah I hear you but some people can save a lot of money by not having those options. Also the cameras as standard are so good you really don’t need the 360 that’s just an added bonus if you go for top trim level. Thanks again for taking the time to leave us another comment 🤗
But what does the electric motor do How much miles does it go on electric or does it not drive on electric. This is what people need to know What is the point of the Electric motor and why. The Nissan xtrail e4orce got 3 miles - 5 miles on it electric batteries Before the engine kicks in to recharge the batteries But still the electric batteries power's the xtrail So what the advantages of the Sportage self charging
u forget to add that their models comes only with cable connection apple/android car what is very annoying and weird for 2023 models cars.great review.dashboard is a big game changer.
It’s been so good - average over 45 mpg in mainly busy traffic - that I’ve just ordered a new one - in almost 2 years all it’s needed is fuel (not much), windscreen wash and air for the tyres.
Hey David, thanks for leaving us a comment. It’s always great to get peoples feedback and what they rate in terms of tech. Appreciate you sharing your thoughts 🤗 a quality 360 Camera is Awsome and very hard to go back to a car without one once you have had one. So I get what you are saying.
I think the comments from the rear passenger were most important. Lets get real - our roads are getting horendous with potholes. I live in Devon and am now looking for a car which can cope with these potholes. Vehicles with these silly "go faster" thin tyres are just rubbish on our third world surfaces. So - sportage is off my agenda.
I’ve had the GT Line 48v version for a few months in between company cars and I have to say, I don’t get the good reviews. This has been one of the most uncomfortable, frustrating cars I’ve had. The seats are not well supported and the suspension is poor. If you’re anywhere near 6 foot or over, the driving position means the touch screen is out of reach and you have to lean forward all the time. I also find the media/ac menu access a pain in having to switch between modes, an unnecessary additional button press. I’ve also had issues with Android auto continually disconnecting (I’ve tried multiple phones and cables) I’m not sure how the GT S version performs with wireless Android Auto. The positives are that the styling is nice and it’s quite practical. It also has a good amount of power but the 48v is not AWD so it’s prone to wheel spin. It’s a car that I pretty much dread getting into.
Hey Rabba, thanks for the comment and sharing with us. I can’t believe you are saying you find it uncomfortable but I totally get your point of view and it’s always interesting to hear from people over 6” as a case study. Sorry to hear you say you dread getting into it as no one wants that in any car. Really appreciate you leaving us an honest experience you have found with the 48V version. Thanks for chatting 🤗
@@CarChatTV It might just be me, I know it's a popular car. I just couldn't get the seat in a position that didn't leave me getting out of the car sore and in discomfort. I now use a wedge cushion to raise my hips above my knees which has helped. I just thought I'd post my comments as I think it's useful for people to have feedback from a long term user especially as someone over 6' tall. Good luck with channel 👍

In European standard (not US/UK units) that comes around 7.5-8 liters per 100 kilometers. Not great, not terrible.

Thank you.
Awsome thank you so much! Thanks for the kind words. Il pass on the feedback to my filming guy. Thanks for chatting with us 🤗
Can get this Sportage spec through Motability. The style, quality, power and handling seem excellent. However, for the disabled and infirm it does lack options: electric seats, electric tailgate, 360 degree cameras, blind spot assist, wireless mobile connectivity.
You can get all that in the GT line S trim
seen lots of people complaining about these 2022-2023 kia sportage cars.....their engine faild their 7dct gearbox shaking and needing service in the first year or ownership....is this car plagued with issues?
Great car but I wish this version has the panoramic sunroof and 360 display would have come handy
Yeah I hear you but some people can save a lot of money by not having those options. Also the cameras as standard are so good you really don’t need the 360 that’s just an added bonus if you go for top trim level. Thanks again for taking the time to leave us another comment 🤗
But what does the electric motor do
How much miles does it go on electric or does it not drive on electric.
This is what people need to know
What is the point of the Electric motor and why.
The Nissan xtrail e4orce got 3 miles - 5 miles on it electric batteries
Before the engine kicks in to recharge the batteries
But still the electric batteries power's the xtrail
So what the advantages of the Sportage self charging
u forget to add that their models comes only with cable connection apple/android car what is very annoying and weird for 2023 models cars.great review.dashboard is a big game changer.

Does the GtLine come in automatic? My car salesman says no
He's a fool then. There's a 157hp mild hybrid GT-Line, a 212hp HEV GT-Line and a 248hp PHEV AWD GT-Line, all automatic.
Holiday trip to Norfolk - 59mpg
Perfect! Thanks for sharing 🤗
It’s been so good - average over 45 mpg in mainly busy traffic - that I’ve just ordered a new one - in almost 2 years all it’s needed is fuel (not much), windscreen wash and air for the tyres.
Slight disagreement, 360 camera is highly desirable, almost essential. Couldn’t live without mine. ( Merc)
It's windy up north heavy car helpfulish I 🤔
I have small hands....
Have you thought about a tractor?
Infera red ordered gt s hev 2025 model
Has this guy never seen adaptive cruise control before! Lol
Lol it’s a beautiful thing isn’t it. Are you a fan of the sportage? Thanks for chatting with us🤗
I’m waiting on mine to arrive
Awsome. How long did they say? Thanks for sharing 🤗
@@CarChatTV 2 to 3 months so I will get it next month or the month after
Hello Oliver
Hello thanks for the comment 🤗
Took one for a test drive this week. Not very good, why is everyone so up them..
Buy second hand Q3 with that money, have carisma with premium car . Trust me walk with a audi key in a mall , shop workers behave you different
An A3 is ok for midgets. Far smaller than a Sportage.
Good review but drivers already know about this tech, if you can afford it
Awsome thanks for the comment 🤗
Not all resent paying more of course if you can afford
👍🏽
I guess you have not used this tech before .all my cars have had it
Yeah I have. I’m just explaining for those that may not have used it. It seems your in the know 🤗
Your wrong g GT S far better looks like you've not driven it ?
I prefer this one much better value for money 👌🏽
what a prat
Thanks for the comment Dave 🤗
