Susan Carlson Fabric Collage: Earthshine-Preparing for Quilting

In this video I show how I prepare my newest portrait quilt, "Earthshine," for quilting. This involves gluing down stray loose edges, layering the batting and backing, and using safety pins to baste the three layers together.

Just wonderful and whimsical! How do you actually attach all of the tiny pieces to the background before the actual sewing
? Is it a collage process using glue?

I saw an idea where someone took a bendable straw that had been cut .5” on each side of the bend. She slid those little ends on to her presser foot to sew things that might otherwise be snagged.
