    That’s not an Imperial jadeite cab. Imperial jadeite almost glows with how deep and vibrant the green is; yours looks dull. Both green cabs look more like nephrite due to the lack of luster. Jadeite holds a shine extremely well, whereas nephrite does not due to the softer nature of the stone. They could just not be polished properly but the colors are still off regardless for both green cabs; your descriptions are incorrect.
    Additionally, your “floating flower” bangle is of a low quality. It has zero transparency, almost like it’s a different stone altogether (marble, maybe?), and it thudded on the table with a dull sound. Jadeite typically sounds almost like it’s ringing when it encounters another object - even a table (more like how your nephrite bangle sounded). I’ve had the same lower-end green jadeite bangle for 16 years and it has a higher “ting” than that when I bump it against things.
    I would also like to note that nephrite has historical value, which you undermined with your comments. Nephrite is less expensive, yes, because of how soft it is, but it’s the original stone used in China. They first got jadeite from Myanmar around the 1700s and even then, it wasn’t commonly used until the 1900s. Jadeite used to be extremely cheap. Anything older that’s made of jade and originates from China is almost always going to be made of nephrite. Have you never seen the prices that genuine mutton fat nephrite pieces can sell for? That stuff can be as expensive as nicer jadeite and is valued highly by collectors because, historically, it was used and owned by those with a higher social status.

  • @shanecarruthers1394

    In order to get top dollar for your Imperial jadeite jade it would also have to be mined out of Myanmar (Burma) to be considered true "Imperial". Otherwise the color would be called emerald green jadeite...only Myanmar produces true Imperial jadeite jade. Much like the pigeon blood Ruby out of Myanmar demands a much higher value.
    I wish you luck in your jadeite and nephrite endeavors. They are extremely fun minerals to learn about, and have an amazing history.

    Jade is worth what the buyer will pay. I have seen California jade that anyone would think is beautiful but it's worthless Cali jade. To a layman, it looks good and is hard, it carves, it's geologically very similar, yet it's usually called serpentine jade.

    • @tommycazador4034
      @tommycazador4034 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not jade it's just serpentine stone very common, jade nefrite sheap the good one it's the jadeite

    • @SmithJu
      @SmithJu 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's said expect Myanmar, Guatemala, Russia also produce jadeite-jade, Guatemala jadeite in the Chinese market is easily seen and always not expensive, it's greyish blue-green. Use a cutter to test it's easy to seperate jadeite from serpentine, and California jade is vesuvianite.

    Be super careful when purchasing jadeite. 90% of Jadeite has been treated. The only way to be sure if it has not been treated is to have it tested by the GIA. There are treatments that cannot be detected by most gem testing methods used in the past. Only by submitting the jadeite to testing at a reliable gem lab can ensure you are not buying treated jadeite. It must be certified A jade. Untreated jade is called, "A jade."

      What does it mean if Jade is treated??

    • @MrMaike3009
      @MrMaike3009 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@samuelstuart3175 they have altered the jade chemically by bleaching it or staining it to get better colours. This however damages the jade material and makes it porous / brittle , they will use wax or some form of filler to fill in the gaps in an attempt to make it look not damaged and have a better finish . This process also lowers the value of the jade to almost none existent , it's called B/ C/ C+D grade .
      In Burma it's known as fake jade , the locals don't even consider them to be worth anything at all. The treatment is not permanent . The colour will slowly lose its shine , the top layer will flake off at times, the wearer can get burned by the left over chemicals in the jade's newly created pores , the filler will loosen and create chips and the true nature of the jade will show as time passes . Especially if it's worn often creating the myth of the "mystical colour changing protective jade" ( If a store ever sells you this kind of BS , RUN) .
      Real Jade absolutely do not change colour.

    When it comes to value and desirability, it doesn’t matter if it’s jadeite or nephrite, this won’t affect the subjective opinion of quality. Jade was originally used in tools like axes because of its toughness, then later used in burial rituals, then later came the ornaments, figurines, brush pots, buckles, jewellery etc. The origin of jade goes back thousands of years, far from these modern fashion pieces.

    Hold on Ive been told that nephrite not necessarily opaque but just nephrite in general is higher on the mohs scale due to the inclusions giving more density and mass and of course that's what they make some dry blades out of! and, unfortunately I somewhat not disagree but more find your statements debatable with your final conclusion of "true imperial" which is to be dark green and containing some degree of translucency. And my argument to this is the fact that.. for example? if you really think about it you can cut a cab of nephrite and have it be extremely translucent even transparent I've got several examples Ive cut recently cut and finished to record this and they can be dark green translucent and see through but you Can ALMOST NEVER find a piece of "TYPE A" (lime/Bright green) IMPERIAL JADEITE WITH THE DEGREE OF TRANSPARENCY ABOUT IT. At least the markets that I'm used to I mean who actually knows except the northern Burmese individuals who are the true experts you know haha. Anyways thx for the video very! informative!

      Depent on colour and weight. Myanmar produces upward of 70 percent of the world's supply of high-quality jadeite.Most of the Myanmar's jadeite is exported to other nations, primarily Asian, for use in jewelry, art, and ornaments. The majority of the production is carried out by Myanmar Gem Enterprise (MGE), a state-owned venture which has enough liquid assets to run itself for 172 years.

      Jade is a very porous stone. It interacts with the chemistry of your body and temperature. Over a period of time, it becomes a darker and richer color. Having said that, it is a rare occurrence but it does happen. I tend to turn many of my jade pieces green after wearing them for a while. But many do not. According to Chinese jade lovers, you are very lucky. The "Yuk Hay" - the richness of jade is upon you.
