How to Tell the Difference Between Nephrite and Jadeite Jade

- Color is the biggest indicator in differentiating between nephrite jade and jadeite jade. The imagery in this video will give you a frame of reference for the different colors, inclusions, and lusters of the two jades. However, this video is no replacement for gemological testing and does not explain how to differentiate jade from simulants or how to tell if jade has been treated. I definitely want to! In my personal collection, I only have 2 nephrite jade bangles that I bought fractured at a discount. They’re gorgeous and wearable, but not a good example of a ping. Hoping to add a nice white nephrite jade bangle to my collection soon, so when I do, I’ll show the ping test on that one! 😊

@@JewelsoftheTrade I have watched a lot of your videos and my stones look a lot like cassiar nephrite. It seems like the light green spots in my nephrite free forms are chromium I believe. Most of my nephrite comes from Afghanistan. But I also have a pendant from Canada with the same inclusion :)
