I remember this night. I was bored and I turned on the game and me and my mom were watching it, just heated up some pizza rolls and was ready for football then after 3 plays, this happend. I was scared shitless cause it reminded me so much of dale earnhardts death I was worried. Couldn’t sleep at all that night all I did was keep checking twitter for any updates. Thank god he’s with us today!❤️
I was channel surfing and stopped on the Daytona 500. Three laps left so I decided to watch the end of the race. I wish I hadn't. My husband's cousin was installing a wood floor years ago. A plank popped up out of the table saw and smacked him in the chest. Like Hamlin, he took about three steps backwards and went down. There was no medical team to save him. I'm really glad Damar survived.
bro even knowing he's okay now this still gets me... I remember my teammate in high school broke his leg and I can still remember him yelling, I can't imagine watching a teammate going thru cardiac arrest. Thank god for the Bills training staff.
This is a perfect reminder of how fragile life is-and that you’re never too young to have a backup plan. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, should have a POA appointed and a will (at the very least). When my mom was having back to back strokes and in the hospital for 8 months, they were ripping life saving money out of her bank because I didn’t have POA to cancel even the most mundane automated payments such as her Spectrum bill. I almost lost her house cuz i couldn’t pay the mortgage cuz I didn’t have POA. My mom was a vegetable for 4 months before she looked at me for the first time. You’d THINK there’d be emergency exceptions for stuff like this, but I promise you, there isn’t. No matter how young or healthy you are, AT LEAST get your POA appointed. Someone you trust with both your medical decisions AND your material assets (or two different people for each type of POA-medical & durable). Both mine and my moms lives are completely upside still to this day. Now 5 years later, we are poor and homebound since I can’t leave her side to even go grocery shopping unless I pay someone to watch her. She can only move her head and left arm, she can’t speak, can’t brush her own teeth or control her bathroom habits… our fun and carefree lives ended April 26, 2018. EVERYTHING can change in an instant. Prepare for the worst and hope for the best is my life’s motto now.
That type of hit is rare. It's one that emergency medical personnel address in advanced resuscitation measures. Gotta shock him within a minute for best outcome. The confusion of that first minute works against him. The enormous amount of prayers overcomes everything though. In retrospect, we medical people all know that made the biggest difference in his miraculous recovery. Stay well and be kind
Seeing Diggs in tears is burned into my mind. I did not go to sleep that night, was so worried sick about him, thank god the medical staffs got to him so quick and were able to save his life!
I can't imagine what the players on both sides feel like this makes me ball every time I watch i imagine the look that whole team has its scary my moms uncle has gone into cardiac arrest 2 times in 4 days and is barely talking I don't even know him I went through 20 days of my grandpa dying it was so sudden my grandma died 2 years ago and my grandpa 1 year ago it's been even more hard as we just moved into there old house it a emotional roller coaster plus my cousin I hadn't seen sense my birthday came and saw us 1 week ago he was very close with my grandpa
What pissed me off about this game was just a couple month prior, I witnessed in person this same thing. Luckily it wasn’t as serious but they had to perform CPR on a middle school player on the opening kickoff
@@1fowllady310 definitely not a particular experiment put in us. It’s definitely from the hit… I’ve been watching football / played football. Never have I seen such an occurrence. But ok.
As someone in media, I think she was grasping for some type of conversation as to not have dead air. I don't think she was thinking it all the way through.
This is a metaphor that applies to ordinary people each and everyday in life. When it comes to espn and these commentators along with all sports in general is to divde us all to ne easily controlled and conquered in the end. Ordinary people do extraordinary things everyday without any fanfare, usually without any recognition whatsoever and are not looking for any. Sports are wonderful because competition and the battles on the field of play prepare young people for the future challenges in life. They allow kids to find a way out of their shell and to find meaning and reason for exist. Forget the money, the media divide and especially politics. This happens from time to time. It is a bit odd that so many professional athletes and amateur athletes are collapsing at an alarming rate around the world. Earth is changing. It operates on a cycle and it affects all of us. Avoid the distractions, read between the lines and dont deny that odd feeling that is in the air...that uncertainty. Love is real. Best of luck in recovery for anyone that had chaos enter their life as it did in this moment. Watch the Any Given Sunday Speech movie clip. That is a speech about life...the game is a metaphor.
I remember watching this live while playing cards at a friend's house. This happened pretty early on in the game, and we were eating Gold Star. We looked away for a second and turned back to people freaking out on the field. We slowly watched the audience in the stadium clear out, and then the message popped up on the screens in Paycor Stadium. It's one of the craziest moments I've seen in NFL, and I'm glad Damar Hamlin is okay
Yes, ESPN, he was surrounded by players of both teams exactly to stop your cameras from getting in there. The fact that you knew it was hard to see him meant you tried, which means their decision to surround him was right.
That’s not necessarily true. They said it was hard to but remember they thought it was just a hit and he needed to maybe get wheeled off with a broken limb or something.
@@cARTerresmith By the time the teams had gathered around, he had been getting CPR for over 9 minutes. No one thought it was a broken limb, everyone knew he had literally clinically died.
@@vyros.3234 There's a big difference between showing the ugly stuff, and showing CPR. I was an EMT for 7 years in a high volume urban system, we didn't let family watch us work their loved ones because it is a traumatic sight, seeing someone's chest caved in with compressions, a tubed shoved down their throat for breathing, their body convulsing as shocks are delivered....no one needed to see that, any of that.

The fact that they did NINE mins of cpr & that we haven't seen an interview_makes_ me believe that he is NOT "ok."
What I like about the situation is that the camera is on wide shot, while for Christian Eriksen it was on him and the players had to make a protective circle to not let anybody see
I watched this live and I was absolutely shaken up by this. Even I didn't want the game to continue. I was hoping and wondering if it would be cancelled. It was so hard to watch. Even now.. I was really shaken up so I can't imagine how the players felt, how his whole team felt, how his family felt and what he went though. I'm so grateful he's made a full recovery ❤️🙏 he is so strong
I watched this live, I’m from Buffalo and it was so scary, so glad they canceled the rest of the game, we couldn’t have gone on if they didn’t cancel it, to see him not moving for almost 10 minutes, and to see these grown men balling is something I’ll never forget
This shocked everyone watching! It was so unexpected just a flash and Damar was down!!! Scary!!! The NFL is amazing they all came together to support Demar along with millions of NFL fans! I'm glad Demar has made a full recovery!
I'll never forget that night...
Damar is doing much better now, back in Buffalo, breathing on his own, and I still can't watch this without tears.
Why cant you watch this without tears? Heart attacks happen every second of every day in this country. Did you cry when Lisa Marie Presley died of a heart attack too? Maybe you cried bc it happened on a football field and on camera. Now I’m gonna go have a corndog, bc I had cornbread yesterday, and corn on the cob the day before.
@@navyvet05 maybe because he's a fan of him? Nobody gives a fuck about what you ate or Lisa
@@ytcommenter375 maybe its bc hes a fuckin corndog, corndog. Now pull your giant labias over your head and swallow.
@@navyvet05 get a grip and realize, nobody cares about you or anything you have to say, your first comment was so unnecessary

Thank God this kid is ok stay strong brother. 🙏 🙏 🙏
You can see how quickly both medical staff responded.
It felt like just yesterday and I knew something was absolutely wrong when I was watching it and saw him go down like that....glad he's back on the team this year....I was crying watching these players cry and seeing how serious it was
Damar I'm a giants fan I'm 42 years old and son I gotta say I hope to see u play again as freak of a thing this was although I know it will live with u forever son u cannot let that get in ur way of ur dreams
Amen ur gonna be ok flex those muscles for the nation
Number 3 the freak
1:48, i saw half a second of an ad for some reason
So glad he's still here 💜
I've heard about this even though I'm from Massachusetts. He is so lucky that he did not die because he's only 24 and not everyone survives cardiac arrest. Update he just got released from the hospital. I bet there were kids at that game since this is a scary moment thank god he's alive
God is good
Of course you've heard about it. What is you being in Massachusetts have to do with anything? It's the NFL. Doesn't matter what state you're in dude you're going to hear about it
This story fortunately has a happy ending. He should make a complete recovery. I don't know if he will play football again, but otherwise he will be ok. 🙏🏻🙏🙏🏾
9 minutes of CPR???
We’re is he?
The fact that Joe Buck is experiencing real human emotion in this moment is telling.
You could hear a pin drop in the crowd
I hope Damar Hamlin gets better and gets back in NFL football and all the Buffalo Bills where praying for you to get better
#64 on the bengals said a prayer they care so much about each other 0:26
Cardiac arrest is so scary it can just happen no matter how healthy you are its wild
Although i belive there was something wrong with his heart
@@Voidchamber_gdexactly, it was waiting to happen and was going to happen one way or another, the hit just triggered it
bro even knowing he's okay now this still gets me...
Wow. I'm so sorry y'all went through that and are still going through it.
Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for having the video YT be on that BS I'm just glad Hamlin is okay fr that was spooky
I've seen something similar to this in the UFC. Barboza vs Burgos. Burgos hit then a few seconds later fell asleep
Prayers? So god is why he survived? Why did god let this happen in the first place?
@@tugboat6940God why are atheists so annoying
Seeing Diggs in tears is burned into my mind. I did not go to sleep that night, was so worried sick about him, thank god the medical staffs got to him so quick and were able to save his life!
Diggs and Hamlin are my favorite players on the bills, so diggs crying didn’t help how scary this already was.
That woman has no idea
I can't imagine what the players on both sides feel like this makes me ball every time I watch i imagine the look that whole team has its scary my moms uncle has gone into cardiac arrest 2 times in 4 days and is barely talking I don't even know him I went through 20 days of my grandpa dying it was so sudden my grandma died 2 years ago and my grandpa 1 year ago it's been even more hard as we just moved into there old house it a emotional roller coaster plus my cousin I hadn't seen sense my birthday came and saw us 1 week ago he was very close with my grandpa
Crimes against humanity 💉💉💉💉💉🩸🩸🩸🩸☠😈
He got hit in the chest and nothing else
Saw this game live in the UK on Channel 5 - could not sleep for worrying - so relieved he survived
How come the ambulance has no company writing on it? That is very bizarre
It's on the back. It says something that begins with W then the word Health.
It says UC Medical Center but hard to read from a distance
Whopper whopper whopper whopper junior double triple whopper BK HAVE IT YOUR WAY
What pissed me off about this game was just a couple month prior, I witnessed in person this same thing. Luckily it wasn’t as serious but they had to perform CPR on a middle school player on the opening kickoff
Prayers for Damar. Will he play football again?
This was the game that got canceled and gave the number 1 seed to the Chiefs.
🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 being lifted for Damar and his family.
I saw that live bro. That was scary bro. I was praying when I heard he went into cardiac arrest
Football is such a great sport but also so violent. These things happen. 😔 I’m glad it had a good outcome!
Yeah it wasn’t from the hit. This looks like cardiac arrest.
@@bretttutt7212 Cardiac nurse here & the hit to his chest caused the cardiac arrest. It’s rare, but it clearly can happen.
They don't
@@1fowllady310 definitely not a particular experiment put in us. It’s definitely from the hit… I’ve been watching football / played football. Never have I seen such an occurrence. But ok.

The silence of the crowd lets you know how scary this was to witness
This turned from one of the worst tragedies in sports to a great story with damar recently being cleared to play again
0:54 You can hear people breath deeply...
How insensitive could she have been? They both reiterated the focus but she just didn't get it!
Not sure she knew what she was saying just then.
The producers behind the scenes are telling her to say that
She was trying to be relevant but failed
i don’t know what you are referring to
As someone in media, I think she was grasping for some type of conversation as to not have dead air. I don't think she was thinking it all the way through.
I love that they on their knees praying awesome.
Why cause he died?
Odds are the lowest paid people on the field did the most important job of anyone else on that same field
Im here because he returned back to practice. I cant tell u how much respect i got for this man to comeback from a situation like this💯
Imo Essien & Ashari Hughes
💉🧬🦠☠️⏱💣🫀💥🚑
Gave me chills when the whole stadium was silent.
Very scary
I'm surprised they didnt get the back up on the field and keep the game going like they do with other injuries
Even tho I’m really late with this, mad respect for both these teams, medical staff and the hospital in Cincinnati. 🥺
God is so faithful! He is good! I pray for this man's speedy recovery!!!🙏🏾
WE LIKE FOOTBALL THIS TWO ARE MY FAVORITE TEAMS I LIKE TO SEE THIS GAME I WAS WATCHING MY OTHER TV SHOW COME AT THE SAME TIME
You guys have to pray for damar even if he doesn’t believe in god.god loves everyone even if they don’t believe in him
I remember watching this live while playing cards at a friend's house.
What's with the ambulance no marketing name on it no lights I don't know wake up people
You do know… It’s a hoax…
All part of the script, but the sheeple don't know what to look for 😂
I just hate how uncertain it all is but on the brighter side no news means he’s not dead
I dont think the commentators saw him go down the way they initially were just like "man another injury that sucks"
If people want to watch football then they also need to see the ugly stuff. Football is not safe at all, so people should know.
@@cARTerresmith By the time the teams had gathered around, he had been getting CPR for over 9 minutes. No one thought it was a broken limb, everyone knew he had literally clinically died.
@@frederalbacon My apologies for my misunderstanding. I misunderstood the information about what had happened. Thank you.
So glad he’s okay now!!
