Sharing this info in case anyone else was struggling with getting the texture pack to work with the latest update. Shout out to @juandisimo9486 for sharing this in his reply to another comment. The texture pack now needs to be pasted into "Emulation/bios/Mupen64plus/cache." Hope this saves some of you an entire evening of troubleshooting!
You sold me on the steam deck. Definitely getting it for Majora's Mask and Nerrels texture pack. Would be good to play on the go. Especially long doctors visits too.
i was following another tutorial that was missing the final setting, thank you so much for showing it! fixed my issues :)
THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I was feeling really lost but you came to the rescue.
Super well done tutorial, thank you:)
Appreciate it!
I have issues with the controls, i want to map the c buttons to the back grips but i cant seem to find a reliable way to make that work, steam input has less than effective results
Great work
Appreciate it!
Awesomeeeeeeee!!!
really helpful tutorial, thank you for doing this.
Unfortunately for me, I did this very recently on my deck, which seems to have changed some pretty big things with emudeck and emulators, starting with it getting rid of Project64plus to begin with and replaced it with 'roselie's mupen gui', which for some reason emudeck was making a huge hassle out of installing, and once I finally did manage to, it now seems to have ruined my efforts to get the HD textures running in game despite following this guide to the letter.
Am I missing some simple step here? Do I just need to tick one box somewhere, or is it some larger procedure? Any help available would be greatly appreciated as I was having a ton of fun with the project.
I’m using emudeck and it apparently changes the location you need to copy the texture pack to. I finally found the correct directory for my texture file:
primary/Emulation/bios/Mupen64plus/cache

YES! That got it working now! There's a bit of stuttering now and then, but enabling 'Manual GPU Clock Control' on the deck mini menu thing seems to fix it. Thank you, man, you the MVP
@@juandisimo9486bro I could kiss you rn
Anyone having an issue where the .hts is just replaced each time you boot the game? It gets replaced with a 12 bytes file, and reextracting the HD one takes ~10 minutes on an SD card making retesting extremely time consuming and tedious. It’s the right folder, HD textures are on… but the file just gets replaced each and every time… really frustrating.
what about other games like banjo kazooie, cant find any HTS for it , only PNG files that wont work
Fucking awesome, thank you.
Happy to help!
I would like to know how to add texture in ppsspp for psp emulator
any idea how to do the textures in 1080p?
Steam deck screen is 720p why even do 1080p textures.
@@ILazzarus666They are referring to the texture resolution of the actual MM assets as they are in 4K, even though the steam deck screen resolution is 720. There is no way to do this unless you manually down-res textures yourself or find a lower-resolution version that someone has already done, which I am not aware if one exists.
does patcher 64 works with any game?
I dont understand how to get all the files from the github into one hts file
I know I'm late but you download high-res texture packs 1, 2 and 3 and then extract high-res texture pack 1, it should take a minute and it'll be around 17GB.
Can you do it all on the steam deck? I don't have pc only steam deck
The program to patch only works on PC as far as I know. Perhaps you can have someone else build it for you or play around with some compatibility tools?
@@portablepixelsgames ok 👍
Can you do this without a steam deck, just on pc?
Yep, you can check out the linked video by Nerrel on how to install for PC
Which file should I take? There are three
take all 3, extract only the first one with 7zip. It will automatically combine all 3 to a file about 18 gigs.
Android for texture?
Since Nintendo wont give us a remaster on switch we can just remaster it at home on steam deck
texture pack link is 404'd, please update
Thanks for letting me know, link has been updated to the official github
Stationary screens ain't got nothing on this
They sure don't
I get an insane amount of lag trying this anyone else have this issue
