Small correction, the "Open Mods Folder" thing does work on Linux (I run Garuda Linux on my PC so I can use the latest unsandboxed Citra package from the AUR), but because the Steam Deck has an immutable filesystem that can't install distro packages so it has to use Flatpaks, which are seperated from the rest of your system. Because of this, Citra probably can't execute the file manager. I've had a similar issue where Firefox can't download stuff, so I have to use wget via the command line whenever I want to download stuff.
Will the game look better docked on a 50" 4ktv if you display the Deck at 1440p in Citra if it's still available? Have you tried it? Id love to play this when I can.
3D+project restoration is my favorite way to play majora's mask these days, and playing the HD HUD version has been a treat on the steam deck. however i have to say henriko's texture pack is super crusty, with loads of badly AI upscaled textures that make the game look worse in places, and implements some photographic textures that removes the stylized, hand-painted charm of the original textures. even if they're somewhat blurry, i'm using the original textures until nerrel releases his handmade MM3D re-texture project; nerrel's MM64 texture pack was incredibly well done. 3D will take a while but it will be worth the wait i should think
Yeah agree on the project restoration + 3D w HUD. Been playing since making this vid and has been really amazing tbh. I’ve seen clips of nerrels pc port w his textures and can agree w your point. Want to see if I can get it running on my steam deck. Overall I still think henrickos pack gives new life and provides a new experience when playing. Easily the best way to play majora & ocarina. Theirs a port to pc of the n64 version, but the textures will never be as good. Only thing im not really a fan of is having to use touchscreen. You can workaround though by setting the rightstick as joycon mouse for menus, & you can even bind touch buttons for like the ocarina & the other corner buttons by selecting the motion/touch section in citra controls menu then indicating the part of the screen you want to respond to button inputs & then map a button to it.

Your entitled to your opinion but you could be a little nicer when talking about someone's work. They could be reading your comment y'know. Textures aren't a joke and take time and effort to make. Also as far as I know Henrico's is the only one available for OOT3D. Everywhere I look for a OOT3D texture pack his name comes up. If you have any better suggestions for that game please do share! Cause I don't really want to have to play the original when the 3ds version improved upon all the flaws the original had including fixing the water temple up.

U can do it without the new textures by just not downloading them and turning the option on in the emulator. But I don’t think you can not include the rest of project restoration as it’s one package. Idk why project restoration kicks so much butt
Does the mod fix the awful boss fight changes the 3DS game made? I can live with there being less fog and altered colors but that is what really bugged me about the 3DS version.

I did it and I'm able to run the game when I'm on Desktop mode or opening Citra from my library, but now I can't run it directly from my Steam library because it takes too long to open the game :/ Doing some testing, I see that the texture pack is what causes the slow start of the game, so I will have to play it without those textures :( but thank you again for your job! Quick problem mine runs just fine but the layout still mimics that of a 3ds even though I already added the file onto the mods folder is anyone else experiencing this or might have a solution?
for those doing it now 1: if your games dont show up on desktop (in citra), click show subfolders 2: you can just click show mod & texture location, you don't have to manualy search for it anymore

what screen are you getting stuck on? Can you load the emulator screen and tap on the game? It holds up for a while the first couple times you load it and need to wait for it to load for a while
@@PizzaHandhelds I have everything downloaded, extracted, and moved to the locations you showed in the video. I changed settings in graphics for the textures, and nothing happens. The regular 3ds game plays with no changes

I just can’t get it to work. I did everything but once skullkid steals epona and runs off the game freezes. I’ve tried all versions of the project restoration mod and the other versions don’t even work full stop.
I researched for a bit and I dont think so. You can add HD textures to the 3ds version - but I cant find UI mods as that is what I would want the most from the OOT 3ds
You should hear a little bell tone upon startup that is not there running the normal version of the game. Also the HUD will appear on the main screen too

The PC port of ocarina of time uses the N64 version as a base, it has QoL changes but it uses the old textures unless you're on windows, then you can use an unofficial program to add hd textures

I followed you guide but get a lot of lag and stuttering. Is there something you do to make Citra work better on the Steam Deck.
there shouldnt be too much stuttering. I mean there are the shaders compliling but that should ease up after a time. Good luck thanks for watching!

If you can't find the mod folder turn on hidden files. For whatever reason they were hidden for me what they weren't before.

Thanks for the Tutorial. However for some reason my games wouldn't boot anymore. I fixed this by disabling ''preload custom textures''.
