    What needs to improve is the price. They are closer to Polaroid 8X10 than original FP100C per shot at about $11 per shot. This is a lot, especially for a format that was used either in point and shoot holiday cameras, or for a small niche of photographers on backs or specific cameras.
    I'd rather pay the $15/20 per shot that Polaroid 8X10 offers if I were to use them only in a studio environment than paying that much on my Land 100.
    Price aside, it is very impressive. I hope they'll be able to get the shots to work better however, with consistent results and better color. I know we wont get Fuji style colors ever on those, but at least, some nice steady ones. I wish they'll end up teaming up with Polaroid Originals and eventually bring it down to $1-5 per shot. On par with integral Polaroid film and Instax film

    I think it is wonderful that people like Chris are trying to create something that keeps the analog world alive and happy to see the community support it. I miss Fuji100C but I also miss the original Polaroid SX-70 film and Type 55. All the current attempts do not match those classics but I applaud the efforts and will support them when I can. I believe that formulations, technology, and manufacturing will improve over time and new formulations may even provide something unique and wonderful with time. It took decades for the Polaroids, Kodaks, and Fujis of the world to perfect their formulations and they had the deep pockets to spend on research and development.

    Hi Nicos, does the One Instant film emulsion float off the substrate in warm water, so that you can use it like the old Polaroid, and transfer it onto art paper.
    You were never able to do this with the superior Fuji 100c but you could with the original polaroid to great effect ...

    Just found your channel. Thanks for brining this to people's attention. I'm still super salty about Fuji's discontinuation of pack film. It was a VIABLE product that Fuji only discontinued so they could push their instax cameras and film. It was a sensational product, and out of principal, I haven't bought another Fuji product since it was discontinued.

  • @chrispatmore8944
    @chrispatmore8944 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Possibly a simpler solution for people to have instant film for their medium format cameras is to make backs for them that use the readily available Fuji Instax, which comes in both 6x6 and 645 formats. I'm sure some clever designer could even come up with a base unit that could be easily adapted to suit different camera models through an interchangeable mount. Just putting the idea out there.

    • @NicosPhotographyShow
      @NicosPhotographyShow  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Something between what they created and Rezivot are doing, using Instax, would be perfect. Back in the 1980's Ilford dry to dry machines processed RC prints in under 90 seconds. It should be possible to dev a paper neg and contact print it in under 3 minutes. Excellent video. Thank goodness for Impossible/Polaroid and One Instant. My first camera was a cheap Polaroid, a birthday present over 60 years ago. Over the years I’ve dabbled in 35mm, medium format and digital. Now I’ve gone back to Polaroid only. I love the look of Polaroid and I love the cameras. I recently picked up a new old stock Impossible i1 for £45, a Polaroid 330 pack film camera in mint condition for £25 and last year a 600 camera for under £30. The cost of the film is high but so is the pleasure it brings, at least for me anyway. I don’t need to take hundreds of photos and being aware of the cost of each shot makes me take the time to look for interesting pictures, unlike most of the hundreds I have on my iPhone. I’ve yet to buy some One Instant film, I’m saving up 😂, but when I get some it will be used sparingly. My only beef about Supersense and their film are their shipping charges. If I order one pack of film to try in my 330 the shipping cost will add about 50% to the cost of the already expensive film. This is ridiculous for a small light package to be delivered by post from Austria to Scotland. If they fix that I will become a light but regular user and supporter. I understand the reasons for the film cost and I will be excited to be part of the pack film revival but please Supersense address the shipping cost.

    • @areallyrealisticguyd4333
      @areallyrealisticguyd4333 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They doubled the price of their film so now it's $50USD for 3 single shots. If it was 4x5 sized sheets it'd be understandable but it's just regular sized packfilm. What's interesting is that even at that price they're barely making even so realistically they COULD be charging more. This is considering that you can still buy fp-100c at around $100 as well.
      They still haven't figured out a solution to making their own formulation after 6 years of the project.
      As much as I want to support them I feel the project will end with them finishing up the remainder of the P7 chemicals with no real solution to continue color packfilm.

      @SagePatrynXX 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NicosPhotographyShow well as I was informed from the film photography project thats why they no longer carry them. Amazon does but not wise. Old stock especially with the colored ones. Batteries Are supposed to last a year so if the use by date (which is a year from whence it was made ) is past due it won't live long. Oddly enough I can test to see how much volts it still has if I'm careful. so if it's over 5 volts no problem but many are under 5 volts so I buy direct and don't have much problems. Some are close to the due date but they worked. But considering the battery just comes out at the bottom after I've torn out the metal spring, I'd think it wouldn't be that hard to have a slip in. But just a thought. True you don't know till you stick it in that it might be dead but even if you ruin 1 photo sticking in a new battery. better than loosing maybe 4-5 of them. Still a blast to shoot those. Got the Sun 600 ages ago for $3 usually not that little anymore. OneSteps I have but I'd love to get the flash unit someday. I bought a few of the old lightbars for it though. I have a Land Camera from grandma's collection as well as something my brother thought would be of interest one that is a heavy medical device I have no idea how that works but the viewfinder is at a 90 degree angle. I have managed to set it off now and then but I'm told it's like a $1000 camera strictly for medical applications so probably wouldn't work anyway. But the Land Camera does and have a few left of the Fujis in it and one more in the fridge. (sorry for being long ) Shootings that fun :)

      For now they are using old "new" stock from Polaroid (the old company). But my main concern is if they will put new materials into the One Instant, that is what Chris covered and gave me hopes.

    Didn't Florian Kaps and his financial partner buy up a lot of FP-100c to help fund the One Instant project? That's what I remember from Marco's interview before the Kickstarter campaign got started. If so, then with the right link we could actually buy FP-100c and support Supersense instead of someone else.

    Great video, Nico. I love the quality of FP100 and FP3000 and the perfection is fine because the format gives you a single paper photo with the negative in other paper. Is like having a copy from a 35mm film in a beautiful paper with beautiful white borders, you don't feel it like instant film once you made the gorgeous and satisfying process of peel it. I still have several packages to use.
    But even when I use it sometimes, I'm not a fan of the "perfection" of Fuji Instax film. Maybe because all the plasticky feeling of that format. It feels too artificial. It's ok for teens. But not for a more artistic approach.
    Polaroid Originals is way better for my taste. I don't look for perfection when I'm shooting instant film, I don't want "real colors". I want an alternate reality and that's the beauty of Polaroid. So, I have no problem with One Instant not being so perfect because of the expired pods. I'm waiting for my order and really want to try it. Hope the new version they make in the future, with fresh chemistry, don't turn so much to red like this. I miss the old Impossible Project Shade Cool versions, with blueish shadows.
    Note: The latest price of FP3000 and 100 (while being made, 2013 and 2015) was USD15.

      Yeah, Instax is perfectly clinical to me. PO is more of an artistic result, totally agree with you there.
      About the prices, when FP100c got announced to die I went on BH and it was still 8.5$, 10 minutes later is had gone up to 15$.

    I think they should have bypassed this size and went straight to 4x5 single shot film . Instax will eat up this market. Quality and cost will never solve that.

    • @NicosPhotographyShow
      @NicosPhotographyShow  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think to a certain extent this film will be more of an artistic expression, quality will never equal prior products or Instax line.

    I think you should do your math again. Shooting film does not cost $10/shot. Or are you paying $100 to get a roll of 120 developed? I just developed a roll myself for peanuts. And buying FP100C is not sending money to Fuji. They sold it all long ago. Now you are enriching the hoarders. But at least you get 10 great shots, instead of 1 iffy one.

    • @NicosPhotographyShow
      @NicosPhotographyShow  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I mentioned making a print from film comes out at around 10$ a shot. This is if done at a lab. I do all my own developing and its cheaper for sure. But if i did 10 shots of 6x7, add the roll of film, time, chemistry and paper to get 10 shots.... it would be way more than 100$.

    Fp100C produced exceptional photographs in good quality MF cameras.
    Not to mention the big negative it left, which could be scanned with great detail in it. Sad it's gone.

      We all agree FP100c was the best we ever had and probably will ever have. But something to load on our cameras is a good thing to have. Only option makes it hard not to pick, just less amounts as the price is not easy to overlook.
