  • This week I take you to the town of Wisła in the south of Poland, home to beautiful mountain ranges with plenty of hiking trails, ski resorts, Adam Małysz (famous Polish Sportsman) and the source of the Vistula (Wisła) river, a beautiful place to see and one I would recommend you visit!

Wisła is pretty cool, that's a fact. Was there 30 years ago, now it's probably better.

I wish I could have spent more time in the city itself, we spent most of our stay out in the mountains 😅 it was a lovely place to visit 😊

      Have a great time!
One thing I missed visiting there was this other park that had some models of Polish cities along the Vistula, it’s just north of the amphitheater!

I had never heard of this town and did not know that the name of the river Wisla came from this area. Incidentally, dom zdrojowy, that building you visited, is a spa. I imagine being close to the Czech Republic, it would be a lovely place to visit in the summertime.
12.09 ''I love a good browar'' a browar is the Polish word for a brewery, which might also explain the fine quality of its beer as you are trying it at the source. As far as I know, browar is not a trade name for a particular beer it is a common noun for all such enterprises.

Oh I know what Browar means 😜 I try to go to one in every city I find, always the best source of beer 😉
I would definitely come back in summer, last time in this region the summer was beautiful in the mountains 😊

I do not know if you have heard of him but playing on my computer, there is a channel on TH-cam called English with Nick. He is an Englishman who has been in Poland since 2000, he has a CELTA qualification and has done his B2 Polish language certificate. Although he is teaching English, he does it all through the medium of Polish and his Polish languge skills are amazing. Give his channel a try and it might help to motivate you with your own language learning confidence.

That was a nice trip in the snow. Walking in snow is tiring but rewarding when you can't move a muscle the next morning 😅 Have you been to the East of Poland in Podlasie? To see the most multicultural part of Poland? Colourful Ortodox churches, wooden Muslim mosques and Catholic churches. All in small villages. Different cuisines. I went to Supraśl last weekend and planning to go again to the region called "Kraina Otwartych Okiennic" (Land of Open Windows?) to see more.

Luckily the snow wasn’t too deep this time 😅 and with crampons the icy bits were easy to walk, it’s more the elevation of the routes which killed my legs 😂
I have been to bits and pieces of Podlasie, there is a potential trip coming up in May to see some of the places you have mentioned, so it’s possible I will see this year 😊

@@britinpoland2392 I suppose zrodlo rzeki sounds better. the mouth of the river is where the river opens up into open water whereas the source of the river is where it begins, sometimes as a mere spring. To be honest with you, I did not even notice this point myself.
