      Shamrock for sure you’ll meet some random people, though my personal tip would be a group like Warsaw Global 🙂
      Thanks for enjoying the channel, much more to come 😊

    A nice video! I must say that Poland looks freezing, mind you, it is getting very cold here in the U.K. as well. Meeting new people in later life is always a challenge as most people make friends at school or university and then keep those friendships through later life. I do not know if I would want to be in an expat community or not as it feels a bit like being in the French Foreign Legion! I am surprised that Curtis who runs the Shamrock bar did not want to be seen on camera as it would have been good free publicity. I like the way the girl on the right representing Amigos of Warsaw said: ''We are both from Warsaw so we know it like the back of our pocket!'
    I do also know and recognize the difference in the Polish mentality as sometimes, rarely, I visit Czestochowa from where my wife comes from. Around the house where her sister lives, there is little of interest so I go for a walk through a small 'forest' along a track that simply brings me out by a bridge that crosses a busy roundway. I always notice how for instance I get people walking the other way as well as cyclists so I politely move out of their way to let them through yet nobody even smiles, nobody says ''thank you'', nobody gives you a short raised hand of gratitude whereas in England it happens all the time. Are Polish people really more honest than their British counterparts?

      @britinpoland2392  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh for sure it is getting cold now 🥶
      We’ve had some snow with more on the way, it’s shifting between 1 and -4 at the moment, actually I think it was -8 last night 😅
      Curtis I think is a busy man and didn’t really send a proper reply, maybe I’ll get him for a future video 😜
      I love it when Polish expressions slip into English, a lot seem similar but different to ours 😁
      Polish manners are indeed different, but vary from person to person, I’m used to not being thanked when holding open a door, so it’s a nice surprise when I do 😂
      About ‘honesty’ well, what I mean is they are more genuine and don’t beat around the bush, they give honest opinions with less of trying to spare your feelings, if they don’t like you they don’t try to hide it, that kind of thing 😊

    Judging by the demographics at these meetings of the "international" community in Poland, the guy basically wants it to be similar to England, where ethnic English are a minority in their capital city, and if trends don't change, they will become a minority throughout the country.

    • @britinpoland2392

      The ‘guy’ certainly doesn’t want that 😅 what has happened in the U.K. is horrific, you just have to look at the marches in the streets of London, the grooming gangs, the high murder rates and the collapse of community in the U.K. to see the problems caused by mass immigration, one of the reasons I like Poland is that is better managed here.
      However being an immigrant myself now I am part of the community and there are people who move here, whether refugees from Ukraine or people like myself who came to work, or even those in study who can feel isolated and this video is to help give them a lifeline so they can integrate into society, a lot of our events help to educate them about Poland, showing them the country, taking part in Polish traditions and teaching them to survive here 😊

      This is a common problem everywhere. Even a small country like Ireland has 200,000 Poles and now one in five people living in Dublin is of foreign extraction.

    • @j.langer5949

      @@michaelmckelvey5122 At least Poles are Europeans. I am, of course, referring to the immigration of non-European ethnic groups. I was hoping that would be clear. And by the way, the fact that someone lets 200,000 Poles into their country does not automatically imply that Poles must do the same and tolerate similar phenomena.

    • @michaelmckelvey5122
      @michaelmckelvey5122 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@j.langer5949 Ireland does not 'let them in'-they come freely because 'free movement' was part of the conditions of E.U. membership. Also, Ireland has taken in some 45,000 Ukrainian refugees, the figures are allocated to them through Brussels. If 200,000 Poles have a right to move to Ireland, why can 200,000 Irish people not do the same and move to Poland? You write: ''the fact that someone lets 200,000 Poles into their country does not automatically imply that Poles must do the same...'' but they must, that is the whole meaning of 'free movement' and that is why we voted to leave the European Union. We were in the former Common Market, 'the group of eight' but the British Government, without regard to the wishes of the British people transformed us into a mega block of 27 states. Norway has unfettered access to the 'single market' and has to allow 'free movement.' However, Norway has a very small population with almost zero unemployment as well as the difficulty of obtaining a permanent work contract. Added to this, of course, is the fact that only Norwegians speak Norwegian-the U.K. on the other hand, was simply swamped. Canada has free access to the 'single market' but the U.K. can not have the same because it would be seen as an ''unfair advantage.'' However, in 1944 and 1945 Europe was very happy with England's geographic location with British and American troops swarming up the French beaches to liberate them-how short the political memory tends to be! That is partly why the whole European experiment was unworkable. Do I need to say more?

      @@britinpoland2392 if you are still under 45 and have a degree and have a degree in a subject that is on the shortage list, Australia would be a very good long term option. Lovely weather, lovely beaches, lovely life style and a government that puts Australia and the Australians first. Their attitude towards immigration is everything the United Kingdom could be, should be but isn't. Also, of course, you would not have with the language and always the thought of being an outsider. My daughter is soon to travel 'far and wide' to search for her perfect destination and being still young, in her early twenties, and a newly qualified pharmacist, she should find little difficulty in making the move. I so regret it now myself as in the early to mid 1970's the move would have been so very easy.
