they recently asked the regulator if they could stop producing comedy and drama, as it isn't financially viable. Can you believe it? If they hadn't got stuck with endless gameshows (THE CHASE) then maybe they wouldn't be losing viewers

They actually care that little about the utter garbage they put out, they are prepared to cull the two things that have a modicum of talent and quality for the sake of a few quid. With the BBC going down the same hole, we're rapidly heading towards wall to wall dross as an excuse for television. Not far from that now. Sad epitaph to all this is there is a section of society so dumb they are de-evolving, who will watch absolutely anything handed to them. For example, I cite the cretin Joey Essex as prime example, m'lud, for the case for the prosecution. I despair.

They al;so said they're current situation in unsustainable, and have come to the conclusion that more regional programming is needed. 15 years after they took it away. They also no longer have the faciilites to make regional programming, as they lost many studios when the regional companies merged to become ITV PLC. Since then most of the ex-regional studios have been demolished. I know, because I had worked in quite a few of them at different points.
@@archivemediavault That's interesting. When ITV were regionalised, the general impression I got was they were usually greater than the sum of their parts. Ok, yes some of the regional stuff was crap, but more often than not between the 12 or so regions managed to contribute one or two decent shows which ended up being shown nationally so you got a decent spread of shows which made ITV a good alternative to BBC and decent competition. The SouthEast (my area) franchise wars were hotly contested and each tender had to specify what they intended to bring to the party and how they were going to spend their budget. The local studios did indeed close and were converted, as a lot of others probably did. Those days are long gone likely never to return.
I've nearly completed volume 2, however, computer trouble is preventing me from completing it. Hopefully I'll get the computer fixed and the next video uploaded soon!

Older series are still the best, more realistic, better acting as well.
ITV used to make good shows then. Now it's all reality rubbish, soaps, singing contests and cheap game shows.
