Absolutely the older episodes are much better. After 2002, when Paul Marquess took over, he turned it into a soap. From there onwards it just fell apart.
@@keithmartin1328 totally agree and just to say although I know it’s a tv program but when they wore speaking to the skipper they had more respect and loyalty as you can here the words saying sorry skipper ect but with the new revamp it was yes sergent no sergent that personal respect was loss for the skipper in my opinion . I have watch the bill as a child growing up till the close down off sun hill I loss faith after it when Tom Chandler topped him self gave up as it was heading towards a new Metropolitan police show . I loved the old CID crew and old coppers but now lastly as a growing up man I get the chance to look back and appreciate the old one better and understand the storylines far better as I was a kid I wouldn’t fully understand … but I have far better time and again appreciation for the cast and show . Thanks
@@anonrogermoore465 The story lines were bonkers. The station catching fire, twice. Characters were exterminated left right and centre. Then June Auckland's long lost son just popped up out of nowhere, having insane officers like Cathy Bradford and Gabriel Kent didn't help. To make matters worse everyone suddenly became love sick. Polly Page and Dave Quinnan, who had never shown any interest in each other before, suddenly had a fling, so did several others. But what happened to smithy was awful. Good strong army lad, fun character, totally ruined by making him very love sick. When Kerry Young said to him, just before she was shot by Kent, "I love you smithy.." I just thought WTF.

Hey, you gotta remember, Mental Health Care was in it's early teen years at this stage, you weren't slightly afflicted, you were either sane as the next man, a bit weird or fully on loopy
Regarding opening scene, look at state of GB right now in 2024. Anglo-Saxons created this modern world, and now we have to hear about blacks that were really the Egyptians, or a black was Queen or Roman Emperor. That state of England today is disgusting. I can only imagine what Kipling or Haggard would have to say if they were alive. England for the English. We were the Vikings, the Saxon hoards, and now our own people denigrate us. We need to rise up again.
First scene over 11 minutes. You would never get that in an evening tv drama now. It really bring# back memories.
Who'd have thought an episode of The Bill could open so many channels for debate such as respect for police and the failings of society?
Thanks for the upload I enjoy this video the storyline was good flowing off conversations between the crew . The old ones are far better

@@keithmartin1328 2002 was the last decentish series
80s and 90s were the best years especially the 90s bill
8:34 Tony: here I brung you some flowers ya toe rag, now get ya kit off
That opening dialogue was great!
"'Ow you gonna watch snooker on a black and white telly?!"
Great episode. Interesting insight into Young's mind
Scenes in the van looked be have been filmed in Millwall. At 13.41 you can see the old Millwall Fire Station on Westferry Road.

I can't just 7 shots in the entire episode. Quite impressive.
Young was already mullered in this episode 😮
Phil Young lost it when he started on Datta later on in Further episode's
He's not a racist though
When the others were joking saying that's what racists all say. He's actually not
He just said a racist thing? @@chloemarsh612
Strange that this episode comes up in the midst of the UK riots happening right now of the same subject...
Norika is gorgeous.
Maitland certainly wasn't one for mincing his words.
Phil Young certainly was an odd one....
1:50 I knew a Pom, claimed to be Australian. Still supported the pommy team, een though it battled to win a game. A bit like recent tours down under.
Does anyone else think Tony Stamp acts a bit immature? He was born in 1952 so he would have been 39 in this episode.
What an ending.
I wasn't expecting that!
10:06 Best part lol
GOOD GRIEF AND MORE !!!
No-one realised Phil had mental issues, even when he was having a conversation with his truncheon ??

Yes still today the stigma
One of the Best Episodes !
Who were the guys smashing windows ansd petrol bombs Skinheads or what ?
Far-right-wingers and white supremacists were around even in those days, as well as just thugs and hooligans in general.
22.45 dude sets himself on fire
saw that. Stunt man!
as much as phil young was weird, what he said in the van was spot on
Even in 1991 they were keeping antifa and the far right apart 😆
Almost like fascism is real and needs to be fought against.
Hear, I loved watching the filth Bill and I really loathed the soap Bill.
Young lost the plot ere like
