Really enjoying this little lens. The combination of vintage design with modern manufacturing and coatings etc strikes a cool balance. Stacks of personality and a great alternative to genuine vintage lenses, at a pretty bargain price. Definitely worth checking out 👍
Excellent review. So many channels just get lost in the specs and end up filming the most pedantic non-sense like a flower in the breeze or whatever and seeing how many times we can throw in the word "cinematic" as if American cinema is still the trend setter like it was in the 80s and 90s. In this case, you put the lens through its paces doing exactly what it's built for, artistic expression. Not just artistic expression, but artistic expression in a difficult scenario with a setting sun with reflective water. It's a nightmare scenario resolving the detail of the water, controlling sun flaring, and handling the dynamic range without oversaturating the glass, not to mention the high contrast is conductive to chromatic aberration. Still, it handled it all nicely. Very impressive, and again, excellent review.
@aviationrambler thanks very much I appreciate that. I think when it comes to 'reviews' personally I just like to get out in the world and shoot something, see how it makes me feel, and then share my thoughts. I only review stuff I like and will actually use too, so that helps. I'll leave the in depth techy stuff to those in that game as I think both approaches are helpful for the buyers out there! Yeah this lens is a little cracker. Tricky conditions for sure with the sunrise. Really impressed with the image because as you say, its conditions like these that will really highlight any flaws. Especially so at the bargain price. Glad you enjoyed it man and thanks again!
