MORE ABOUT THIS CABINET
As mentioned in the video, this Whisky Cabinet is an exploration of ideas and in order to do this, sometimes the usual woodworking rules have to be broken in order to push these boundaries. I will be holding onto this piece for a while so I can see how my ideas hold up over time. But the true intention of this piece has most certainly been accomplished. I wanted a challenge and a challenge is what I got. This piece not only pushed my technical abilities, but also pushed me creatively, and personally. Something I go into a little more detail in the free review video.
At the end of the day I’m pleased with the end result but there is one mistake that still effects my overall view on this piece. But that’s not something to be deterred by. This has happened to me on many pivotal builds throughout my career and no doubt Ill eventually see this piece as what’s its intended, a true exploration of this incredible craft we call woodworking.
A couple of things to note. Yes the lights turn on when the doors open thanks to a magnetic sensor. Also, this is a whisky cabinet designed to only store 2 or 3 of your favourite bottles. It's not designed to be a storage cabinet.
A big mention and thank you has to go to Joseph Walsh who I mentioned in this video. His incredible work plays a massive inspiration in my work and continually fills me with excitement knowing that there’s a level of perfection that an individual is actually able to achieve.
Also, a big thank you has to go to my buddy Guy who provided me with the whisky for the photoshoot.
As always thank you so much for your support here on TH-cam. The fact that you even watch my videos means I can continue to make more unique builds and share them with you. And if you haven’t already, please consider subscribing as this will help my videos to get pushed out to more and more people.
Now you hear me talk about Patreon a lot. It’s actually the main way that I can financially support this channel and continue to provide free videos here on TH-cam. If you’re still not sure about it, then you can watch this short video which will outline all the extra content you can gain exclusive access too. / about

A big thanks to all of you for your patience and your support. Lets hope the next video doesn't take another 5 months haha. If you want to know more about this Whisky Cabinet you can check out the free review video here - bit.ly/3YncKW2
You don’t post often but when you do, it’s mind blowing 👍🙏
Thanks
I don't think you could buy expensive enough whiskey for that thing
Nah, bottle of Bells and you're fine
Hahaha.
I’m not subscribed to your Patreon (yet) so I’ve been patiently waiting for this video for months. Let me say, the wait was worth it. It’s an amazing piece. Showing and talking about your mistakes is one of my favorite aspects of your videos. Not because you make mistakes but because you admit them, then discuss how to work around them. It’s woodworking, and you do a great job truly showing what it’s really like. As always, well done. 👍🏻
Thanks so much
I'm always so excited every time you publish. Phenomenal work my friend.
Wow! Amazing project, I love seeing artists working with so much passion. It's a great inspiration for me. Congratulations! Regards from Uruguay.
It's one of those pieces that at first look, you think "cool". But the longer you look, you are amazed by the details. In the end, you're left speechless!
Thanks
Absolutely phenomenal. You keep right on building what you want to build and I will watch every minute of you doing it. Your work is an inspiration to so many of us. Thanks for sharing.
A hobbyist woodworker here...Sir you are true master! What an amazing piece of art! You have no idea how much I have waited for this video...the amount of skill and perfection is something to learn from. You inspire me just like Joseph Walsh inspired you..I have followed his works as well and I am working on a dining table that is made almost entirely of steam bent laminated curves that is are overwhelming with the amount of curves and different angles involved especially when joining together. Learning from your videos is an honour. On this cabinet itself I simply can't think of a way to make it look better, but if I may comment (and I could be absolutely wrong here) I think your videos could use more lighting. That being said, it is nothing major as this could be just me. But man is this cabinet a beauty to the eye! Thank you for sharing your experience!
Beautiful lines, combined with function. Congratulations on creating a masterpiece. Well done!
70 years old, been creating things all of my adult life, I've been called an artist by many but after watching this build I'm without words. Bravo!
Been watching the whole build on patreon and I still couldn’t wait for this video to drop
Thats awesome! Thank you
Honestly, I am not a wood worker but your work and disciple inspires me in ways you can never imagine. I look at your work and to know that a human like me can be so diligent and strive for excellence its something worth living for. Thank you.
That is one remarkable piece of art/furniture !!! And I can see why it took you 4 months to build.
There are so many aspects of it, the legs, the cabinet, the wood choices, there are too many to list.
You really pushed yourself and succeeded !!!
Nick - I relate to the topic of this video so much. I grew up in a high-end furniture/cabinet business (my dad's) and have been making things since I was a teenager. I briefly did it professionally in college but decided to go into STEM instead. So now I have the perfectionist expectations of having seen amazing world-class furniture being built and the perfectionist tendencies of a scientist...needless to say I really struggle to build things that I am happy with and always find myself abandoning projects because of mistakes and oversights. It's nice to hear a professional talk about going through the same mental gymnastics, I don't think it gets covered enough (speaking of TH-cam videos that I wish were made more!). Always love your work and videos.
Absolute Masterpiece! So inspiring, so meticulous, so incredible. Wow
This is absolutely amazing!! You truly are gifted. Gorgeous work.
I am not a woodworker. I paint. The process for all artists is to challenge yourself. For you, an artist like you, the bar has risen very high. Don't question yourself or your motivations. Your creations are nonpareil.
I have cried from joy over some of your creations. Yep, I am a dork, but beauty should bring one to tears.
So much of this video speaks to me. My goodness this is stunning.
Thanks so much man. Glad you enjoyed it
The curve becoming the door handle is truly beautiful. The lighting sends it over the top. Functional art. Inspiring.
21:46, where you talk about mistakes.. One of the best pieces of advice/ philosophy of making that I learned at Art School from my Painting teacher, the late Bob Millis, was 'Don't be precious about your work, remember the sage words of Bob Ross, there are no mistakes, just happy little accidents'. It took me quite a few years and many a Guitar build that ended up either learning to fly or residing in the corner of shame for me to fully grasp the meaning. But I reckon you have come to the realisation that those mistakes are what makes you a better maker.
Wow! This is the most beautiful piece of furniture I've ever seen. You are a true craftsman and artist.
I just purchased the series, not that I'm capable of making anything close to what you do😀😀
A beautifully crafted piece of functional art. My favourite details? The doors, the moulded tenons, (I'll definitely be stealing that idea), and the lighting. Congrats on achieving such a unique, generational piece of work.
I applaud you in your dedication and uniqueness. As much as I enjoy making unusual and out of the box ideas, I’m too scatterbrained to spend that much time on one product and would lose interest and inspiration as soon as another idea came to mind. But that piece is priceless and your focus is unparalleled.
Been waiting for this one!
I love skipping to the end then watching the whole vid to see how it was put together
Fantastic, so much complexity
Have to comment on an aspect of this video build -- specifically the accompanying narrative -- that is uncomfortable: whining. The statement may have passed without much notice, but it stood out starkly to me. As someone who understood immediately what you were talking about at the absolute deepest level of my being, I have to say to you that we, as a species, need to do more "whining." It is your apology for it that is the _problem_, not the "whining" itself. As humans, we have been forged to believe that admitting to mistakes, imperfections and weaknesses is taboo ... wrong ... weak. And this leads to an apology for whining. I am fighting this as well, and I am grateful at a level I believe you know for your putting it out there to hundreds of thousands of people. Eventually, together, we will turn the "wrongful" tide.
Haven't even watched it yet. Been waiting for months to see your latest creation. But I already know it is gonna be one hall of a piece
Outstanding, Nick. What a beautiful piece! Congratulations on a fantastic video too, superbly put together.
What can I say, Its Beautiful. The build, the material, the workmanship, the photography, the lighting and even the music all coming together in one fantastic video. Thank you for all your time and effort. 1in7
I learn so much in these videos. Your mastery over these tools is inspiring.
Absolutely amazing! I love each new project you do and look forward with anticipation for the next one.
I'm a fairly skilled woodworker, and am considered by many to be an excellent craftsman. I'm rarely impressed by the things I see on TH-cam - even from most of the big names. THIS on the other hand... this is truly special. Bravo.
Thank you for taking us through your journey to build a piece of furniture that is truly stunning! Wow...
Finding meaning and purpose by questioning reality from your profession and passion, top woodworking and workmanship!
I have been waiting to see this, definatley not let down. Amazing.
This is a great job! I would even say - a work of art. There are many woodworkers on TH-cam, but you, dear master, are a wood artist, an artist.
Thanks for the pleasure of watching your work.
Owh WOW!!! This is definitely another level of woodworking... Your vids have always inspired me, so thank you for dreaming up this 'art piece' and sharing the journey of its physical creation with us. Truly magnificent.
You sir, are the most talented woodworker on TH-cam.
Thats very kind of you
Taking that effort for elaborate beauty has so much purpose and meaning and I hope we go back towards it instead of the efficient and practical that has been ruling for so long now. When the pursuit for beauty is cast aside for whatever rational reasoning the real cost of losing it isn't taken into account.
Agreed
Such a stunning piece, and a great video. I've really enjoyed following along on your journey.
How apropos that you post this video just as I’m working on my “maker profile” assignment for the furniture design class I’m taking (that I emailed you about a couple months ago) to be ready to present to my fellow students next week.
So much effort put into it, simply a Master piece.
This piece of furniture speaks for itself.
There are no words to describe this work of art. It's more than just the art of woodworking, it's so much more. An emotion. Congratulations on this work of art. And I think that's one of the goals of creating this kind of work to actually push back these limits and open up your comfort zone. Bravo
So Good.... I'm always amazed by your work. I will, like all your videos, watch this about 50 more time, just to be able to digest it all. Thank you for putting in the time to make this. I know it was done for you, but I feel, it was made for me. Thank you.
MATE!!! you are an artist, simple! This is a dream...
Thank you
10/13/24..Curve-o-Linear Twisted Leg Whiskey Cabinet...makes me thirsty just looking...then thinking...ya know..'ole Nick Padula was sipping some of those 'orange vitimines'...that's where (some) his 'creative juices' come from, aye?
Yes Nick, another fantastic work of art! Love your video presentations...lighting, close-up camera positions, smoothe conversational commentary, exceptional tools & safe handling of small pieces....just absolutely fantastic! So I am thinking...watching/listening to you/this creativity renders everyone into a gentle & peaceful mood...your channel contents are needed at the negotiating table to sort-out the details of an agreeable peace treaty, border dispute etc. Hummmm...is their a Nobel Peace Prize category for your 'hands-on' therapeutic lessening of hostilities? If so, congratulations Nick, you are overdue for a big thanks!🎉 Love all your videos & explinations! Stay safe & carry on! ✅️👍👍🍷😊
Absolutely beautiful. Your posts are inspiring!
Your level of ability, skill, and artistry both inspire me and make me want to give up, haha. Truly amazing work.
this has been one of my favourite videos on this platform
yoo im so excited for this!! been waiting onnit for ages man this is dope!
I had a custom woodworking shop for 25 years. While I enjoyed the things I took as commissions, nothing compares to today where for the last 4 years I only make what I want when I want. Being retired is the ultimate freedom for a maker. No deadlines, no changes in the middle of a build, no stress and most of all - no clients! Lol
That first pour after completion must've had a full body of relief, a sharp yet not lingering acidic attack of "phew took long enough" counterbalanced with hard earned satisfaction undernotes, a sweet sweet aftertaste of victory covering that little smokiness of "ok, what's next?".
Cheers !
What dedication to detail.
Stunning!! You inspire woodworkers to be better.
Gosh. That´s a true sanctuary for exclusive and rare bottle whisky. Congrats for that master piece.
That's magnificent dude. Really incredible, thanks for sharing.
WOW!, you have truly become one of the greats in woodworking! Beyond words!
Thats very kind thank you
That is the wildest coolest piece of artwork I've seen from a woodworker! At first I thought it was going to look ugly. Turned out pretty good.
Thanks
Wow, stunning. I would understand if this piece ends up in a museum in stead of the house of a whiskey lover.
I’ve been on the fence for quite a while about the aesthetics of how you twist the wood. although I appreciate the technicality of it. I’m still not on either side of having it in my house that said what a beautiful piece of art you created.
It's a true masterpiece of craftmanship, it really is!
But if criticism is allowed: I don't get the design idea behind this cabinet. What's the purpose of the curved part besides beeing there as and end in itself? It's like a wooden alien that doesn't belong there, way too prominent and intrusive, but without a real function. Makes the whole cabinet look kind of misplaced. Sorry for the criticism, only my first thoughts when I saw it.
your work is incredibly magnificent, I escape every time I watch your films. I live in France but I would dream of learning alongside you.
Your pieces look like they could be made from artificial intelligence, they're so pristine it's almost unbelivable
This is unbelievable work. Well done. Love it 👍
Thanks
Your work detail level is awesome, always an inspiration for me what man can achieve in woodworking skills
Algunos carpinteros hacen muebles, otros hacen obras de arte. Que lindo ver como alguien le brinda tanto amor a la madera. Hermosa obra amigo, veo tus videos y me dan deseos de salir corriendo para el taller 😊.
This is a real thing of beauty and man, what a tremendous amount of time and patience and craftmanship. Maybe it isn't flawless, but it is close to perfect.
Thank you
As before, a piece of art, I'm again shock of the beautifull detail that make it unique, perfect, I'm speechless.
A masterpiece and a fitting tribute to whiskey. It's a gem mate, a Koh-i-Noor, in its own class.
Bravo!
Nice to see you back... that is stunning woodcraft... ❤
Thanks
Spettacolare !!!! Non vedevo l'ora di rivederti nel creare qualcosa di veramente unico e come dicevo prima SPETTACOLARE !!!!. Sei mitico GRAZIE
Mate, the skill in that is incredible.
Can’t shake one weird thought though. As a whiskey cabinet, it’s not very useful. However it would make an incredible tabernacle.
То, что вы создали, это просто взрыв мозга! Уникальный шедевр! Потрясающий мастер! Браво!!!
Incredible craftsmanship, simply inspirational. Is this excellence?
I get Ark of the Covenant vibes. I know this represents 30 years of work and dedication, but it still looks like magic to me.
You have just made me smile..thenk you.
Speechless: unable to speak, especially as the temporary result of shock or strong emotion.
It can all be yours for 125,000 dollars! Gorgeous.
This is a masterpiece!❤
Nice to watch without sound !!!!!!!!
My ego says that I could build it 😁 Great job! 👏
This is the most amazing thing made today of wood which I saw in my life!
Congratulations
It is great job
Hats off to you Sir, it is a real piece of art 👏👏👏
Thanks
Speechless!
Nice piece. To me, this is a tabernacle on a throne, where the priest grabs community wafer from.
For me you're the GOAT of woodworking, can you give us the name of artist(s) that are the GOAT for you ?
Been waiting for this
Thanks for your patience
Amazing. You are the Michelangelo of wood working
You sir, are a woodworking god.
Sensational. Just.... Sensational!!
You are a master. Magnifique !
Simplesmente Maravilhoso!
