@sodasaintcommentaries4054 But what made the scene such a great character study is that EVERYONE knows that admitting he ordered the code red would sink Jessup...... EXCEPT JESSUP. After the fact, he can't believe he's being charged with a crime. He gave an order, and that's the end of it. Everything else, the cover-up, the trial is all BS to him. Kaffee cottoned onto this and was able to put Jessup in a place where he just wants to say and do what he wants, by ordering him to sit down, by treating him with no redirect, by making him feel stupid by repeating previous testimony, like a child. By then, Jessup's had enough of the crap. He just wants to say what happened and go back to being the boss. Brilliant.

Great cast and so amazing to learn that Wolfgang Bodison (Harold Dawson) wasn't a trained actor before this film. Firstly, there is no reason that jessup would say he ordered the code red. Even through questioning, he wouldnt admit it. Secondly, military law states that it is illegal to follow orders you know are illegal. These two marines would have been found guilty of murder whether or not is was ordered by jessup and/or he admitted to it. This movie makes no sense

Something I just realized about this scene is that Jessup actually killed THREE Marines! If JAG didn't do something to reduce their ruling to an "Other than Honorable Discharge, or a general discharge," Those boys won't be able to find jobs in the civilian world! People, most of you have no idea how harsh of a discharge that is! These two's odds of getting strung out on drugs and either dying from an overdose or in prison went through the roof!-NO ONE WILL HIRE THEM!

I disagree. If it was me, I just would not include that information on my CV. No one will check, not even sure how you'd check. After you've worked a couple years in a job and done good work, no one will even care if you were dishonorable discharged.
