They are all the Best of that generation... Ben Shepherd though has to be one of the greatest, most unknown, underrated, should always be mentioned Bass players of all time!!!!
In the mid 90s a guy named Chris gave me a handful of Soundgarden ‘rarities’ on cassettes. I still have some of them. Chris lived in Oil City Pa. He was part of or maybe the head of the Soundgarden fan club (it’s been a long time). This exact song was on one of the cassettes he gave me. Long story real short..I am grateful. Such a cool song from an interesting fellow.
The best birthday present I ever got in my life was from my girlfriend in 2002 who was living in Ferndale, WA. She got me a six cd box set of the entire Self Pollution radio show unedited with every song played, live performance, comment, interview, and commercial intact. I still have it to this day and it has to be right at the top of my most valuable items in my music collection.
This song is included in the Boxset ,disc 3 i believe, see how tight they were together, they made it look easy, these guys always delivered through every song, every record, pure class act!! Luv'em forever! Chris we miss ya!!
Yeah.. studio recording of this song was actually included on the Fell on Black Days single released in Europe and Australia in 1994. It should've made it onto an LP though.
There were two studio versions made of this song. There is a Brendan O' Brien version and a Stuart Hallerman version. The O' Brien version is heavier and more raw sounding. He turned up the guitars in the mix to make it sound even heavier
Such a damn killer performance. Four BEASTS playing a supremely high level. Who was PJ's drummer at the time? I'm guessing that is who recorded this...really intensely focused on Matt Cameron, which is ironic seeing as that he would replace him (assuming my suspicion is right here). Just stands out because Cornell and Kim are shown like once or twice only, hah.
It's Chris singing, not his brother Peter. This is a well known video amongst hardcore fans, Chris is hillarious in the end: Eddie, I spilt some coffe in the kitchen... I'm apologizing now...
McMasterMike I know, right? Why just the rhythm section? Chris' comment @ the end was funny. I so wmuch wanted to see all of Soungarden.I'm not trying to disrespect Ben & Matt. I just love Chris' vocals and I'm a guitar freak. I'm far from musically inclined, but the guitar just resonates with me. I'm just out of sorts about Chris, it's just unreal. Sorry about my rambling I'm tired and a bit loopy. Have a good one.
I MAY be mistaken, but I remember a discography (that hurt to type) goin around a while back titled "Bootlegged." Somehow its listed under the band Pearl Jam. It includes this whole session at Eddie's pad. If ANYONE knows this to be true, or finds a way to buy the set, post in ALL CAPS so I can buy. Hell, I'll burn a whole stack of writables and send them to everyone's location of choice. TRUST.
Kyle Petty is the son of Richard Petty, both racecar drivers. The main character in the song seems to be Kyle Petty, talking about how his "daddy didn't raise no fucking fold" and that kind of thing. On a deeper level, I believe the song is about how if your parent has a talent that they're known for and then they raise you to go into that same thing for your career, you're expected to live up to your name if that makes sense.
The casual intensity of Chris Cornell's voice always amazed me.
I agree. although I can't think of anything about Cornell's voice that doesn't amaze me.
“Eddie, I spilt some coffee in the kitchen. Sorry, I’m apologizing now.”
This is that kind of song that gets better every time I hear it. Like most of SG’s catalog
Matt's drumming breaking the laws of physics at 2:47
Kevin Moffatt so freaking amazing! If you blink it's already happened
Patrick Lucas 👍
Matt always has the perfect fills and knows exactly where to put them.
💀😭💀😭💀😭💀😭💀🌮💀🌮😭🌮❤️😭

This video is shit. Guitar solo and no shot of guitar solo?! Kick-ass singer and no shot of kick-ass singer?!

It has been. It's just a bit hard to find.
Hey alpenbum, this song features as a b-side on some of their Fell On Black Days singles... really great track!!!
Dude they get jazzy for their typical style. The chords @ 0:40 are A-->Gmaj13-->A-->Dmaj11/F#.
キムのギターソロ強烈すぎるわw
LOVE THIS ''SING YOUR ASS OFF
