Thanks for sharing this, it's been on my list for a long time too and after watching this i think I will take the alternative route that follows the stream to the East. Cracking views you had, if i get those conditions I'll be a happy man!
HI Andrew - great ascent..you and James are really showing what 'adventure MTB' is like on the climb - kudos mate..never seen so many boulders in one place before! looking forward for part 2 and the descent - the mountains are simply beautiful - thanks for sharing the ride.
Great video guys! Glad you had a ball and finished this amazing route safely! Never mind the punctures, just added up to fun. "corrected and enlightened" - it was me! 😂
@@McTrailRider Yes, small world! My friends were watching it and recognised me :) Was a nice surprise! I didn't realize you were filming. I blame social distance ☺️
Beautiful views again. Brilliant video once again. You guys must have balls of steel going on those mountains with those drops either side of you. I wouldn’t be able to trust my ability to do that.
Awesome, can't wait for part 2. I had the same stunning weather, when I climbed Ben Nevis via the CIC hut and up on the CMD arete on the 2nd Oct. Watching your videos you really sell the beauty of Scotland, and I wasn't disappointed. So glad I got to visit during these mad times. Can't wait to get back when the world gets back to normal. @@McTrailRider definitely no bike for me either. By the time we got to the summit it was almost empty. And watched the sunset on our descent. Truly stunning.
Great to belatedly see this. Had planned to do this years ago with a very light xc bike (9kg) but it would have been brutal, so glad I never found the time. You had a great day for it. That is not Schehallion in the middle - it is Ben Mhor (Crianlarich) with Stob Binean to the left, unmistakable. I don't think Schiehallion is high enough to be on the horizon from Macdui, but think the whole east shoulder & summit are visible below and to the right of Lawers. I think the hills you say are are Glencoe are actually Beinn Achallader (by Bridge of Orchy). Pretty sure the Glencoe / Nevis hills are obscured by Braereach etc. But what's interesting is that you can see what's probably the Kintail mountains on the horizon to to the left of Aviemore. I once biked in close to the foot of the Devil's Point (Penis until Victorian map makers deliberately mistranslated it) and walked up and round to Braeriach, it was mid October and a similar day but hard frost above 3000ft, sunset and views to the west were amazing - as no hills in the way. Then down the corrie to Larig and ride back to the bothy in the dark.
Thanks for the information regarding the mountains, I double checked what you said on a map at home, and your absolutely correct👍 I’m still learning the mountains and is particularly hard to get right when I’m further away from home.
