    I would definitely watch more of these! Class A, Class B, and Class C comparisons. Ike Gauntlets, Fuel loops, and Performance comparisons. Towing tests would also be appreciated!!! The real world testing you guys do would be awesome: dry camping tests of batteries and tank capacities would be great to see. Dry camping does involve some off road so you guys would be all set to try some of that as well. Thanks very much for what you guys do. Love the channel and variety!!!

    I follow a few RV channels on TH-cam, and none of them do any testing like this. I really think you have found something here. It is one thing to know what features and equipment is in an RV, but how does it perform? No one that I know of is doing that. I think the Ike Gauntlet test is the perfect test to help buyers select the RV that suits their needs. I vote for TFLRV. Keep up the great videos.

      I agree doing a RVing / towing side show on the TFLT channel. I'm RV trailer owner. Two points on towing, Mph really effects MPG's and at what sweet spot does the tranny stay in over-drive while towing. That is why the eco-boost gets poor gas mileage with towing a heavy load because it has to stay at a higher rpm.

      Especially a motorhome! I modify everything from Corvettes and tire-shredding Duramax diesels to sportbikes and even a bicycle that I installed a weed-wacker engine on that could do 48mph! My motorhome is a Chevy Vortec 454 V8- and while not car-fast, would destroy this V10 motorhome in a drag race, uphill, and in MPG with my modifications. I havent even tuned it yet, there is lots more that I still have planned for it. You can't have too much power in these buildings on wheels! As evidenced by this video, motorhomes lose over 100HP from the crank to the wheels from a restrictive intake and exhaust, etc. Then losing even more power to turn a huge driveshaft, differential and axle, and extremely heavy dually wheels. My 'Big Bertha' is 21 years old and worked hard weekly, still running perfect with the mods too. I wouldnt drive a motorhome without modifications!

    I’ve got a 2014 Tiffin Allegro and the main reason people get the tune is drivability. In stock form the transmission is wonky with shifts that don’t always make sense. For this reason I usually drive mine in tow/haul mode which helps a lot. The 5-Star Tune completely fixes the issue. I give it 5 stars.

    • @jnk26
      @jnk26 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The tow/haul locks the torque in every gear except first. By doing this it lowers the fluid temperatures by not using the fluid coupling of the torque converter. The reason the hp and torque numbers are so low, is the testing they show you is in Colorado. The mass of the drive line really saps the "power" not to mention the commercial tires(height) causes loses to the dyno. 31" tire vs 35"tire will show very different results on the same vehicle and day

    • @jeladsnikpoh1289

      The only thing you could compare that V10 to is a house with a lawnmower engine (31seconds to 60, and sounding like its gonna blow)! That LS Winnie is pretty quick though. Itll lay the smack down on my Vortec 454 motorhome, while my old '98 technology (modified😉) will walk all over this new Ford V10. I laugh all the way to the bank, every time I go 'tour' these new RVs, then go back to mine!

    • @jeromep
      @jeromep ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bmcdonald7303 You can still get the Banks kits for the 460. The headers are great, and stock 460 exhaust manifolds often get leaks in them and can crack pretty easily. The stainless headers and exhaust are a huge improvement over factory exhaust, if not for power, than for overall reliability. You don't have to get the transmission electronics from Banks when you get the 460 kit, however, you get better shift performance from the Banks transmission electronics. They claim that their shift timing and the increased fluid pressures that the transmission runs during certain engine output conditions helps to reduce wear in the transmission by changing the shift points and increasing the positivity of clutch pack actions during shifts.

    • @carlingraham114
      @carlingraham114 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @snoboy5898 wow...old post from me. No real increase in noise. The benefit is in the shifting. Less hunting for the right gear. Not as sluggish.....but its still a motorhome. I pulled a c-max, still got 12 mpg, Imperial....so...10 USA...overall. worth the cost if you're doing a lot of miles. You may want to get a tuner, too.......not for increased power, but to avoid MANY check engine lights.....computer needs to know about the increased airflow . Otherwise, too many false alerts regarding airflow sensor failure. (Cost me a bundle before I figured that out). Better than cheating by using a cheap OBD reading to just cancel the false alert.

    Watched this video. Bought the tuner for my 2019 Tiffin V10 gas, which struggled to maintain 70MPH on the highway and wanted to run at 67-68. After installation today, the RV runs comfortably at 73-75 MPH with the lightest press of the gas pedal. This tuner is fabulous. Acceleration off the line is so much improved. I disliked the V10 enough that I considered trading my 2019 for the new 2021 Tiffin (same model, 38 foot or the 36UA model), for the new 7.3L Ford V8. Dealer wants my coach plus $55,000.00 just to gain 30HP on the new V8. Well, I am so glad I tried the 5-Star tuner, as it made this RV more of a driver's machine. I won't be opting for the new 7.3L V8....this upgrade on the 6.8L V10 is good enough to be happy. BTW, this review is dead-on accurate and factual. It's exactly what you will obtain for the price of this tuner. Highly recommend.

I know demand is still there for old replacement parts for older trucks but a lot of parts used on new rv and f650 trucks can be found even from 2000 model trucks lol.

    I don’t have a motorhome yet but hope to in a year. I’ve been thinking of a shot of nitrous for hills and passing. Cheapest and easiest means of boosting power. Nitrous isn’t a “fuel”, by the way. It’s an oxidizer. Using a “wet” nitrous system includes an additional shot of gasoline along with the extra oxygen. The nozzles are on a plate that is inserted under the carb or behind the throttle body in EFI. A simple nitrous metering nozzle change gives you the added power for your needs in measured steps. Much simpler than a turbo or a Procharger.

    In case anyone is wondering what a stock one is like. My v10 class c E450 32ft gets about 6.5 mpg with my lead foot. No more than 7 anytime. It’s loud because it’s right next to you. They rev high a lot. On a flat highway it’ll do 75-80 but you should probably keep it lower than 70. Have done the same mountain as I’m in CO. When to the floor your going about 45 max. Then some ass in a piece of crap will get in front of you and you loose all momentum and you can’t pass because you can’t! I do like the Torqshift transmission though, especially on downhill. In tow/haul it senses that your going down and will downshift automatically to keep your speed down.
    I’m sure the 7.3 gas will be a little better for power but not much.

    Curious how the tune would take advantage of a Banks full header back exhaust including high flow cat and some type of fully enclosed CAI. Sound difference as well? There are a lot of V10's in the world that sound awesome at full song.

    This is the way that you should do all of the Ike gauntlet mpg measurements. Relying on the dash “lie-o-meter” for mpg does not give an accurate pic. Also , ideally a dyno test should be done to make sure that the OEMs aren’t giving “tuned” trucks for the test (btw I really suspect that the Silverado 2.7L turbo was an OEM tuned truck .... especially with the low mpgs)

    This makes you wonder why the engine doesn’t come from the factory with this state of tune. Could reliability/longevity be affected?

    • @larryspiller15

      They probably leaned out the fuel at highway cruising rpms which would cause more heat and wear in the cylinders and made the transmission gear changes more aggressive adding more reliability concerns. That being said they are just concerns, it could be so minuscule that it never matters or the opposite. No one for sure knows until its too late.

    Wow, wouldn't have thought a gas 38' would weight over 23k, that's pretty heavy for gas motor. They certainly would benefit from a comparable diesel w/Allison transmission. Would be nice to do a comparison on a diesel rig. Love the review as I have an older 95 Diesel pusher 39' rig that probably wouldn't be any faster, but sure pulls easier on hills at half the RPM.

  • @techtom83
    @techtom83 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yeah. Tuning rvs can be really helpful. There’s also a few companies out there, more notably one called Ujoint Offroad, that does 4x4 conversions on class Cs. Would be cool to see some in action on your TFLoffroad channel! As far as these v10s go, there’s a word of note! I’m going to be vague due to lack of certain numbers, but here goes: the older v10s were a 2 valve. The newer ones are a 3 valve, with like, 50 more hp??? The class Cs “never” got the 3 valve? And other than the 31ft class Cs, the 29s and under have a 4 speed, not a 5 speed (ugh. Fml). I plan on looking into the Banks Power kit for my 29ft v10. I wonder how it’ll compare with new headers and exhaust, as well as a tune? Would be great for you guys to look into some of this!

      Class C E series only came with 2v engines 4.6 ,5.4 and 6.8. After 2014 the passenger and cargo vans E series were dropped. The E series cut away chassis is still available with the 6.2 and 7.3 .
      Diesels were dropped before 2010
      in the E series.

    Definitely not a game changer for me. I drive a 36' MH with the V10 5 speed tranny and don't have an issue going up and down the mountains I have come across. Also, seems 50mph is pretty fast to go down the steep side. What are the truckers doing? All the steep grades I ever been on, usually it's 35mph going down which the torque-shift 5 speed tranny has had no issues doing. I think you were going at an unsafe speed downhill, IMHO. I climb a 6 plus mile 7% grade doing 40-50mph with my stock V10 towing about 4300lbs behind me fully loaded with a week supplies.
