I'm crazy about Sims 2, and I thought I'd know all of these! It makes me really happy that you use the in-game sims, it makes it more relatable. I'm not finished with the video yet, but I know that the Brick Rolled was definitely new to me. Most of the object references were! I'm glad to see there are still people willing to make informative Sims 2 videos out there! I've also been looking at that Wil Wright statue in Strangetown for so long, trying to puzzle out who it is. Thanks for clearing it up!
Omg, I didn't know most of them, and I've been an avid player of the Sims 2 since 2005! It's still the only Sims game I play regularly! The secret lot in Belladonna Cove blew my mind the most. I've played in that town a million times, and I had NO idea!! :O
In Sims 2 Bon Voyage, you can place beach lots for your sims to live on and be able to swim in the ocean. You can also buy a pirate ship and place it on the lot for your sims to explore. There is a ghost pirate on board that if you talk to him, he may teach you a pirate song (my observation is that the song sounds like “A Pirate’s Life for Me” but please correct me if I’m wrong about that)
That takes all the fun from the CAS. How can I create blatant insults to the human hubris with the Sims 4 CAS? You can’t. I like the Sims 2 CAS just because of how awful it is.
3:26 Oooh, I remember one year in English class I realized something about the social bunny: it's probably a reference to a play called "Harvey" about a guy who has an invisible friend that he describes as an anthropomorphic rabbit, and everybody's pretty sure he's crazy. Harvey's not as well known as some of the other stuff referenced in the game so not as many people might realize it's a reference. I thought it was pretty cool when I realized that though.
Yes! Everyone thinks it's a Donnie Darko reference (which may be), but that film is at the same time obviously influenced by Harvey. Such a lovely and funny film.
1:14 “Styx” is also the name of the river you have to go through when you’re going to the Underworld, which is where dead people goes according to Greek mythology
Okay, I’ll admit it...I did not know that 50th Easter egg. Pretty cool there’s stuff that I still may not know about! And I just love the Sims 2, I always hum the soundtrack whenever I hear it, I can’t resist XD

Onlyabidoang, I am Brazilian and I follow your channel since last year 2018, and I have been thanking you for the subtitles in Portuguese in the videos :-)
The Sims 2 had SOUL. The tiny little details, animations, hidden autonomy stuff, the witty text, the wonderful gameplay, cut scenes, charm, humour (often dark), the mysteries... Gosh, I love this game so much to this day. If I were a billionaire, I'd hire the best people to form a team to create the ultimate competitor life sim game, giving them all the development time, money amd other resources needed to make it happen with no greedy leaders, and would make sure the team is balanced and not ridiculously top-heavy like Sims 4's among other things...
The stereo mentioned at 6:49 is called the 'Fun-Tastic Frequency Stereo from Kauker Inc.' The name 'Kauker Inc.' refers to the last name of someone who worked on the audio for the Sims 2 - Robi Kauker. As well as this, there is a police officer in Pleasantview called Dorian Kauker.
If you look at the Sims 2 credits, a lot of the random townie names are the names of people who worked on the game! www.mobygames.com/game/windows/sims-2/credits

Sims games in a nutshell: Sims 1: Outdated Orchestral Classic Sims 2: Funky, Fun, and Mysterious Sequel Sims 3: Great yet Broken Nostalgic Masterpiece Sims 4: Sims 2 But WACKY and WORSE Edit: Sims 3 is my favorite because of the open world and angled items and stuff, then Sims 2, slightly below Sims 4, then sims 1 just because of how outdated it is
Angled items? Do you mean when you rotate them? You can do that on Sims 2 as well, you just need to use some cheats. You can place objects off the grid as well. Angle cheat -> boolProp allow45DegreeAngleOfRotation [true/false] Off grid cheat -> boolProp snapObjectsToGrid [true/false] Sims 2 is one of the best games actually, bc it doesn't have a lot of bugs and it has a whole bunch of details. Sims 3 was innovative but it's an ok game imo. Sims 4 is... well, it lacks a lot of stuff that it's predecessors had (Sims 2 is far more interesting, and c'mon this game was made in the early 2000s). I honestly don't know what they're doing with this generation, they're probably just milking their own fan base at this point lol.
Back in the good old days of The Sims franchise. Idk about you guys, but sims 2 is the most complete version of all generations. There were cars, complete life stages with their own unique experience, good graphics for it’s time, stable gameplay, deep experiences, best reationship/dating/hangout system, memories, wants and Fears, aspirarion meter, neighborhoods with their unique lore and history, dramma, EXTREMELLY smart sims with real personalities and preferences, good apartament system, a great business system, amazing college experience(really, going to university in sims 2 felt always so real and nostalgic with their 90’s vibe), smart functional pets and the BEST vacation/trips system, that really made you feel like you’re in vacation, and let’s not forget, a GREAT genetics/genes system. God, i wish they could do a sims 5 like this again. There are no flaws that i could point on sims 2.

0:06 *I love the fact that at the top left screen there is a lot where a bunch of MASSIVE decorative stone heads is just staring at the house like it's a casual thing that every village/neighborhood has to have.*
1:06 Yes Styx may be a rock band, but it is also the river in greek mythology that souls rode through to the underworld, Hades, so it's kind of a clever pun!
I’ve been playing this game since it game out, I always put Downtown on my neighborhoods, and I have NEVER realized before today that Cold Issue Clothing was a pun on Hot Topic. 🤦♀️
This isn't really an Easter egg but it's kind of a secret that in The Sims 2 when parents are getting in an argument/fight and their kid catches them, the kid might run away from home

I did that over and over and they threw up Every. Single. Time.
I would of put it back on pause and left the room as if I knew nothing.
Playing Sims 2 with your mum has to be like the coolest thing ever
If they released a remaster version of the sims 2 for modern computers, it all over. I’d be beyond happy.
Yes ea will make tons of money if they did that, but same graphic style but remastered and some of the danger bugs fixed.
They would but would monetize the crap out of it
I'm shocked by how many of these shocked me.
Same 😂
Back when the sims had character
100 likes? Congrats!
Omg I just Realized THANK YOU GUYS! 😭❤
Sims 3 still has character
The Sims 3????
The Sims 2 had SO MUCH CHARACTER! Damn, I miss this...
It kinda makes me sad that some of these reference are only found in the English version, not all the jokes were directly translated to German...
A little fun fact: one of the very cheap pieces of furniture from the base game says it's from AEKI (an obvious IKEA reference) but I kinda find it even funnier becausea few years later, EAxis published an actual IKEA stuff pack for The Sims 2 lol
Ich liebe die deutsche Version aber dennoch total, ich weiß nich mal wieso
@Security Cam Sam nice one
in my county Bella Goth doesn’t even has this name, her first and last name are totally changed, and she is like so iconic for the the sims
@@11more40 From which country are you and that's her name in your language? Really interested in that 👀 In Germany, Bella kept her first name but her last name is "Grusel", derived from the German word "gruselig" (= "spooky")
There are so many funny descriptions of Objects, floors, tapestry and even of community lots! :D Well sometimes they couldn't translate the puns so well into other languages but if you're good at english you might still understand them sometimes :D
I loooove how they took so much effort for writing all these cute descriptions
Gosh your video make me wanna play the sims 2 again.. I miss it soooooooooooooo much
where can i find it free for my new laptop? 😂

I love sims
༼ oل͟o ༼ oل͟o ༽ oل͟o ༽ Aww thank you! Actually I’m Swedish. The franchise is huge in all of Scandinavia and my family collects moomin items and is a bit overly obsessed haha
I only freaked out when i saw The Sims 2 gives your sims hair that flops and not stiff like in a snowstorm
Lmao, I played Sims 2 on the PS2 first so when I got the PC version, I was tripping out too. 'Her hair MOVES. The sofa actually INDENTS when my sim sits down!' I was so amazed.
The music already gave me goosebumps. I used to play the sims 2 24/7
there's also an avril lavigne reference on female teen clothing
All my teens wore it and I remember thinking it was the coolest outfit ever as a child... Yikes 😂😂😂
Sims 2 forever bro.
I still play the game, have all the expansions. Just can't get bored. Been playing since 2007.
Me : deletes all the mods today
Onlyabidoang : gurl u might regret this
I saw a penguin in university thinking about E=MC. Maybe it was going to apply to university lol
That's funny 😂😂
Will Wright looks like Jim Pickens
If you don’t know Jim Pickens, what are you doing search him up and thank me later
Lauren Dyer AHAHAHAHAH
Alishba Kazi he does though doesn’t he? Hahaha
The dear leader!
phi all hail the dear leader
It was a prophecy... one man (?) to rule over the sims franchise for eternity
sims 2: Strangeville
sims 4: Strangerville
sims 6: Strangestville
bold of you to assume it'll ever actually make it past 5.... 😬 (at least with the way EA is handling it now)
Interesting fact: In the Russian version, Strangeville (or Strangetown, I don't know) is called "Kitezhgrad"
@@Pani_MeLiT0 that would be a weird pack name
*Strangetown!
@@claireglover1391nuh, russian translators were way too creative with it
Its Harry Potter's birthday and he is in the thumb nail.
Bless this channel.
I still remember when I played for the first time the sims2. I made a family with 2 parents, 1 teenager and 1 kild. I put them stargaze and the kid was hit by the meteor. I cried
Lmaoo😭😭
That was another thing back in the day; Maxis acknowledged that children can have fatal accidents just as easily as adults can and they weren't afraid to let the kids die. In my S2 Castaway, one of my kids was swimming in the sea and a storm broke. A bolt of lightning hit the water and my kid died.
Damn every time I see something Sims 2 related I want to play it again :(
Edit: wow, that was a really interesting video, thanks :) can you do more easter egg videos?
wait ur profile pictuure... dat gameeeee 🤣

There is a ghost pirate on board that if you talk to him, he may teach you a pirate song (my observation is that the song sounds like “A Pirate’s Life for Me” but please correct me if I’m wrong about that)
I always loved that
I’ll take everything from the sims 2 plus the graphics of the sims 4 please.
That takes all the fun from the CAS. How can I create blatant insults to the human hubris with the Sims 4 CAS? You can’t. I like the Sims 2 CAS just because of how awful it is.
I find the graphics to not really suffer that much. Check out the food preparation for instance; lobster thermidor is a good example. Compare 2 to 4.

Oooh, I remember one year in English class I realized something about the social bunny: it's probably a reference to a play called "Harvey" about a guy who has an invisible friend that he describes as an anthropomorphic rabbit, and everybody's pretty sure he's crazy.
This deserves more love
1:14 “Styx” is also the name of the river you have to go through when you’re going to the Underworld, which is where dead people goes according to Greek mythology
I've been playing for 10 years but still learning new stuff.. 🙃 Such a nice game
Okay, I’ll admit it...I did not know that 50th Easter egg. Pretty cool there’s stuff that I still may not know about! And I just love the Sims 2, I always hum the soundtrack whenever I hear it, I can’t resist XD
I've been playing the Sims 2 since I was 6 years old and I still didn't know quite a lot of these Easter eggs. Thanks for making this video.
Omg I did not realize how amazingly creative and detailed the sims 2 was when I was little. They really lost that imagination in the sims 3 and 4
Man, the Sims 2 is so great. I find new things every time I play and damn I just found some more. The Sims really went down hill since EA started caring more about money.
The Sims 2 is the best sorry I don’t make the rules 🤷🏼♀️
The stereo mentioned at 6:49 is called the 'Fun-Tastic Frequency Stereo from Kauker Inc.' The name 'Kauker Inc.' refers to the last name of someone who worked on the audio for the Sims 2 - Robi Kauker. As well as this, there is a police officer in Pleasantview called Dorian Kauker.
If you look at the Sims 2 credits, a lot of the random townie names are the names of people who worked on the game! www.mobygames.com/game/windows/sims-2/credits
Totally crack up at 4:11. Never expected that. Great vid as always onlyabidoang!

Well depends, in Polish it's Baba YAga
The fact that I've been playing this since it came out in 2004 and I'm STILL learning new things about it is INSANE. What an amazing game.
Did you know that the flying pig is a reference to Pink Floyd's "Animals" album cover?
And also Baba Jaga isn't only russian legend, she's *SLAVIC* folklor character- soooo *not only russian*!!!!!!!!!!
I spent my childhood playing The Sims 1 & 2. I recently downloaded TS4 to give it a go and thought it was awful. Completely lacks the character and atmosphere of the old games. Gonna have to dig out my old computer to get on the OGs again!
I think they designed Sims 4 to have the most interesting and exciting part be buying a new pack. It really sucks. I completely stopped playing 4 after downloading the ultimate version of 2. Never looked back really
this was posted just as I was playing Sims2! best game!
I wish I could still play it :( my new laptop is not compatible with the game
I legitimately feel bad for the people who can’t play this masterpiece.
This was genuinely one of the most interesting videos I've ever seen, I wanna play the sims 2 now 😂
This is such amazing content. I play the Sims 2 since its release in 2004. I knew quite a few of your Easter eggs already but you learned me a lot through this fun and cool video. You got my subscription mister!
and 11 years later I finally found out how to summon Santa in Sims 2 ahahaha.
Same!!!!
Look how inventive, creative and out of the box the Sims 2 is. It is by far the best Sims game, I've felt that way ever since I first bought the Sims 3. The penguins, and oh, look at those... spiral stairs.
I have played the sims 2 since it came out, and I didn't know some of these! Incredible! Thanks for the great video!
LOVED the video! Also there's a carpet called "Hey Jute Carpet" in build mode and it has lyrics from the Beatles' song Hey Jude :) Thanks for the Mod links too!!
Sims games in a nutshell:
Sims 1: Outdated Orchestral Classic
Sims 2: Funky, Fun, and Mysterious Sequel
Sims 3: Great yet Broken Nostalgic Masterpiece
Sims 4: Sims 2 But WACKY and WORSE
Edit: Sims 3 is my favorite because of the open world and angled items and stuff, then Sims 2, slightly below Sims 4, then sims 1 just because of how outdated it is
Well, Nostalgic is depends on the person, for me (as mor many others) is it mostly Sims 2. Besides it also beeing the best Sims game out of all :D
I prefer the sims 3 the most
I still frequently play Sims 2 never played any other
Angled items? Do you mean when you rotate them? You can do that on Sims 2 as well, you just need to use some cheats. You can place objects off the grid as well.
Angle cheat -> boolProp allow45DegreeAngleOfRotation [true/false]
Off grid cheat -> boolProp snapObjectsToGrid [true/false]
Sims 2 is one of the best games actually, bc it doesn't have a lot of bugs and it has a whole bunch of details.

This game is just amazing, please do more of the Sims 2!
The low social Sim : thanks for the social bunny
Also that same Sim : I'm super hungry can I have a catering bunny now?
When sims graduate from university in sims2 the memory of that says that they thank their creator Will Wright
@@piiga That would explain a lot since Will Wright came with the idea of sims, so in a way he is their creator
*Me:* "Wait, is there a friggin' Rick Roll reference in The Sims 2? But this meme is so rece..."
*Wikipedia:* "The first known instance of a rickroll occurred in May 2007 on /v/, 4chan's video game board."
*Me:* "Daaaaaammmmnnn..."
7:53 Oh, I remember so dearly this house. The first time I killed a sim was in there, and I was so devastated
Yasss been waiting for this🙌
all your videos are class!
0:06 *I love the fact that at the top left screen there is a lot where a bunch of MASSIVE decorative stone heads is just staring at the house like it's a casual thing that every village/neighborhood has to have.*
You could totally make the videos longer if you like, sounds fun
by the way, there is also a street in pleasantview that is called 'wright way' which is a reference to the will wright and a play on "right way"!
I've playing the sims 2 forever and I was still new to some things you mentioned in the video, lol
As a French person, I just love to hear you say "bon voyage".
1:06 Yes Styx may be a rock band, but it is also the river in greek mythology that souls rode through to the underworld, Hades, so it's kind of a clever pun!
All the details put in the Sims 2 is crazy man
I’ve been playing this game since it game out, I always put Downtown on my neighborhoods, and I have NEVER realized before today that Cold Issue Clothing was a pun on Hot Topic. 🤦♀️

Thank you for sharing! I didn't know some of these! I love how the sims 2 can still surprise me after all these years!
This isn't really an Easter egg but it's kind of a secret that in The Sims 2 when parents are getting in an argument/fight and their kid catches them, the kid might run away from home
Okay, I'm installing The Sims 2 now.
