Hey everyone, first of all I want apologize for using the first name of the matchmaker’s NPC in this video. Many of you have reached out to me stating that the particular word is a slur to Romani people and I had no idea about it before since the game named her as so. Thank you to those who have pointed it out and took the time to educate me about it 🙏 Second, I may have misworded my statement when I said hybrids aren’t possible in Sims 4, but what I really meant is that they won’t work properly. For example, a vampire-spellcaster hybrid can be born, but once they age up to teen, the vampire and spellcaster abilities menu will overlap and because of the conflict, you can only upgrade their spellcaster powers and not their vampire powers. Another example is mermaid-vampire hybrid. Your hybrid can get the special abilities from both occults working, but since they each have their own unique forms, it’ll overlap each other and will result in some buggy behaviours when they change into their dark form or mermaid form when swimming (such as their tail not appearing, losing the ability to change their tail in the mermaid form, etc)
To be fair, gypsy isn't universally considered a slur. According to wikipedia, Romani people in the UK still refer to themselves as gypsies. Since the game calls the character a gypsy, it should be fine to say it in that context.
I love the detail of sim checking up their pulse after being scared to death by a ghost. Another cute little detail from Sims 2 I've never seen but adds realism
YESSSSS!! They really feel like ghosts, and they actually make the gameplay quite terrifying because you can never know when they'll try to scare your sims and there's a chance the scare might kill them and then you'll have two ghosts. Plus, suddenly looking at your screen and seeing a ghost reenact their death will never get old, so freaky
@@claralima1967 the ghost reenacting they way they died really raised my hair as a teen, and as a result these ghosts left a firm impression on me. They're the best in the Sims franchise for me.
I never knew you could actually turn a severo to a ghost, since they just fall into disrepair after having their moods dropped to 0 and call up a handyman to fix them. I never even thought about dropping a bed or vending mashine on them.
I remember when I was younger, how hard I tried to become a werewolf don't think I ever got it. I think supernatural sims were one of my favorite things in the Sims 2 when I was younger
I even resorted to cheats and still couldn't make a werewolf. I'm really glad Sims 4 lets you call cats and dogs to visit your lot even though it's crazy unrealistic. Without that mechanic, it's ridiculously difficult to befriend any animal - you only have the first day you meet them to raise friendship. After that day, you likely will never see them again.
@slwrabbits same I cheated so much in the Sims 2 that was just how I played, even trying to get the werewolf I don't think I got it even well using cheat codes
I absolutely loved the occults in TS3 Supernatural but the TS2 ones make me so nostalgic and I adore Plantsims and Witches for how easy they're to care for 😃. Palying as a vampire in TS2 is a bit extreme to my liking but then it's a real challenge so why not 😊
What I enjoy about occults in TS2 is that they're purely optional and you really have to go for them. You sometimes like a more realistic gameplay and using some more paranormal stuff the other times? No problem. Best example is aliens. Technically, they're a huge part of the game's lore, but in order to get abducted, you need to use some very specific items, along with some particular conditions. In TS3 and TS4, there's that extremely annoying anomaly thing. During nighttime, there's a chance for mysterious lights to appear and if your Sim isn't asleep, they will have a forced interaction to check it out, so if you want to actually avoid it, you need to constantly lock the doors.
That’s my childhood fear haha, a spaceship just floating by our house and abducting me. But I agree forced interactions with the occults feels less special
there was aliens and frankenstiens monsters in sims 1. alien sims arent playable in sims 1 however, and frankenstiens monster is what your sim would turn into if they were to drink a certain potion made at the chemistry lab station ;what i love to playfully call the meth lab. there was also ghosts in sims 1 as well, also not playable, but amusing to have around if youre like me, cause they always scare sims to a degree where they pee themselves from time to time. Also, servo is on sims 1 as well, and i wanna say so is bonehilda.
I was just thinking how cute Bigfoot is and then you said you can't reproduce with him 😔. I actually like the occults being this limited like how the plant sims spread so much love but have shorter lives but have so much wisdom early on.
I give TS2 all the credit for most things, but TS3 really did improve most of the occults lol. TS2 Vampires were borderline unplayable. Also, flashbacks to Maricore's Planet Alades at 13:11
Honestly, outside of the addition of "Mixed Breed" Occults, Zombies and Permeant Plant Sims I feel like Sims 4 Occults are more detailed than those in Sims 2. I feel like you're only making this comment because "SiMs 4 SuCks" is such an easy way to get likes on TH-cam. EDIT: I don’t think Sims 2 is bad, I’m simply just so annoyed by the repetitive “SiMs 4 SuCks” crap. It honestly feels like that one Toy Story meme showing the alley of Buzz Lightyears in boxes.

How so? Sims 4's occults are far more detailed than Sims 2's ones. The only ones you can really argue are better are maybe witches and plantsims. Other than that the rest are just regular Sims with a different look basically. Sims 4 aliens have powers that they can use - Sims 2 aliens are literally just a reskinned Sim. Sims 4 werewolves interact with the different phases of the moon and have different powers you can unlock as you level them up - Sims 2 werewolves are just super hairy Sims that you're forced to deal with a personality change and get a free max body skill. Etc etc. Don't get me wrong, I love Sims 2. But it's not better in every way than every other Sims game.
Yeah Sims 4 vampires, werewolves, and spellcasters are all more interesting than their Sims 2 counterparts. Though I do really like the witch alignment thing, they should do that for fairies instead in the Sims 4 :) I wish Sims 4 plantsims were much better, I love the Sims 2 ones... 4:14 just a heads up about the ghosts, it's best not to delete the graves or put them in your sims inventory because it can mess up the ghost link/ties with the gravestone object and can cause corruption 👍 also child ghosts make it so the unsafe npcs (social worker, witch doctor etc) turn up on your lot to collect them cos "it's too late" after 6pm but this can also mess up your game and cause corruption 😬
Deleting graves won't cause corruption. But you won't be able to resurrect that sim if you don't have nounlinkondelete. I recommend watching April Black's video about corruption because it debunks a lot of stuff.
Sims 2 corruption is just an internet legend. It doesn't actually happen. It's safe to delete or destroy urns and tombstones. Idk about the child ghost bug, but game breaking bugs isn't the same as corruption
Okay everyone, let’s make one thing clear: deleting tomstones is SAFE. It does not cause any harm to the game or the neighborhood. The idea that ”deleting graves causes corruption” is a myth that’s been disproved by several experienced programmers and modders years ago. You can also delete Sims from the bin, if you want to. You won’t be able to ressurect the Sim unless you use mods like nounlinkondelete, but that’s pretty much it. So please stop spreading the myth, okay? :)
About ghost children; while children can die, their ghosts are rather buggy and could be destructive if you haven't download appropriate mod to negate the bug. This bug, which consider ghost children as visitor, will try to come up with NPC to pick the children up and amongst the pool of NPCs they could choose is the NPC that is destructive if made functioning outside of their usual scope such as a Grim Reaper or a Witch Doctor. However, the modding community has found ways to prevent them from summoning NPCs as well as enabling ghost children floating animation!

Ahhh, what a lovely trip down memory lane -- I have fond memories of playing witches near the end of my time with Sims 2! They had some fun stuff going on, that's for sure. Never was so much into the other occults (though I did have a vampire college student for a while -- THAT was a delicate balancing act), and I do still love the look of the classic Servo.
Plant sims were my go to occult back in sims 2, they were SOOOOO good for legacy or 100 baby challenges. I made a cult town of 1 plantsim mom leader and her army of babies who all just did everything to support her.
Referring to the matchmaker: Just letting you know cause a lot of people don’t know this, the word g*psy is considered a slur against Romani people, so it’s probably best to refrain from using it. (Love your videos btw ❤️)

The Gypsy Matchmaker hasn't aged well, but I don't think there is enough reason to omit the gypsy part of the name. It is usually considered a slur, but not always and not everywhere.

I’ve never played the sims 2 but everytime I see videos or playthroughs of it, it makes me so sad that the sims 4 isn’t as in depth as its predecessor. Love all the occults of the sims 2, wish we could get them all in sims 4. Edit: please EA give us fairies, zombies, genies and bigfoot!! I beg of you!!
I remember I was so scared of the occults in Sims 2, especially zombies and werewolves, I bought all my Sims the Lycan and Zombi-be-gone potions; and the only occult I played with is the Good Witch
i've never played sims 2 and 3 in general.. Sims 3, I dabbled a bit very recently. I only played 1 and straight to 4. Looking at this, sims 4 realm of magic is heavily missing and lacking in various ways. also, its a crime that you cant woo-hoo and make kids with Bigfoot.... He's the perfect man.
Sorry, even though TS2 is my favorite overall, I cannot agree with your term "properly implemented," regarding occults, but would refer to where some occults were enhanced, and more were made playable in TS2. Just a small detail, that does not impact on what the rest of the video might bring. Before I watch the video, I would like to give a 👏👏 to all the occults and life states presented first in TS1, that allowed its predecessors to expand upon (as well as a few that still have yet to be brought back). In the basegame, there were already ghosts (and anyone who has played TS1 at a young age, would remember that music that played to announce them), and the most iconic of all, the Grim Reaper. In TS1:LL, pleading with the Grim Reaper could result in a Zombie resurrection (with opposite personalities), and were indeed playable. If, you have TS1:U, Miss Lucille can restore Zombies to their normal state (including personalities). Also in TS1:LL, you can use the chemistry set and get a few varied results, but most notable is the purple potion, which will turn the sim into a monster temporarily (during that time, said monster is uncontrollable, will break objects, and/or paint masterpieces at any available easel). In TS1:MM, the Beauty or Beast Charm will temporarily allow Sims to change their appearance to a plethora of life states, including many that are found in layer games (i.e. Werewolves, Vampires, Plantsims, etc.). While the life states in TS1 are mainly aesthetic, there are additional quirks (i.e. Zombie and Evil Clone's reversed personalities), as well as some harsh consequences (i.e. turning a sim into a frog, can result in said sim being eaten by a cat or dragon), that have permanent outcomes, even though the initial results were temporary. With every new EP, there is a multitude of Special NPCs of the other-worldly type, here is just a short list: Vicky Vampiress, Miss Lucille, The Tragic Clown, Claire the Bear, Grim Reaper, Santa Claus, Chip & Bunny the Dancers, Mime, Mystery Man, El Bandito, Henry LeStanc, the Genie, Servo, Bonehilda, Campfire Ghost, Vacation Mascot, Evil Clone, Non-Evil Clone, Frankenstein, Invisible Friend, Wally and Molly O'Wisp, Enchanted Gardening Gnomes, FlaminGoGo Dancers, Glenda & Gorden the Ghost, Someone's Mummy, Snake Charmer, along with a large cast of present and past iconic celebrities, etc. Again, while TS1 was first to implement occult and other life states, TS2 did enhance many of them, allowing us to play with them, and to become many of them❣
If you’re playing sims 2 with vampires and you want a baby, alien or otherwise, remember that vampires do not age, time does not pass, and the pregnancy will not progress. They will be stuck at the first phase of pregnancy forever. Turn them into a regular sim, then have them bitten again.
Check the position of your food bowl in buy mode, when you fill the food bowl sometimes it’ll face the wall and the pet can’t access it - annoying, I know

Ghosts were actually introduced in the Sims 1's base game but only had one color and that was green no matter how the sim died also like the sims they cannot be controlled nor interacted with.
if we ever get zombies in the sims 4 I want children to get a moodlet that says something along the lines of “ it’s just like craft and mine “ whenever they see a zombie
The Sims game series was a great trilogy with Sims 2 arguably being the best one. I'm glad EA and Maxis ended with Sims 3 and did not create anymore games that lack features and sold them back to you through dozens of expansion packs right?
I wish vampires could reproduce and pass the vampirism to their children like in the Sims 3. Thats the only feature i liked more in the Sims 3. Vampires and their powers

I'm a little sad to see the difference between some of the occult in Sims 2-4. Servos and Vege Sims are much less good and impactful. The genie and zombies are not present. And the missed chance for Big Foot with Outdoor Retreat.

The sims 4 realm of magic should have given us witches. I do like realm of magic but witches have way more interesting things going on with them. Especially the whole sides idea.
I don't miss how aggressively gendered TS2 was. Lipstick for robots, come on. But the game wasn'g afraid to get creepy and I do miss that! TS4 just ain't ever scary.
Sims 4 supernaturals are a joke. None of them are scary or memorable. Meanwhile Sims 2 supernaturals scare till this day, especially Ghosts. Sims 4 does have more gameplay, but it honestly felt like a chore to do

Hybrids is a bug, so I don't think you committed a mistake, if there's no mechanic to Hybrids, there's no sense to say they "exist"

I kinda miss the ghosts reenacting their deaths or being attracted to things they used to use. Feels pretty close to most ghost stories.

Ahhh, what a lovely trip down memory lane -- I have fond memories of playing witches near the end of my time with Sims 2! They had some fun stuff going on, that's for sure. Never was so much into the other occults (though I did have a vampire college student for a while -- THAT was a delicate balancing act), and I do still love the look of the classic Servo.

Plant sims were my go to occult back in sims 2, they were SOOOOO good for legacy or 100 baby challenges. I made a cult town of 1 plantsim mom leader and her army of babies who all just did everything to support her.

i've never played sims 2 and 3 in general.. Sims 3, I dabbled a bit very recently. I only played 1 and straight to 4. Looking at this, sims 4 realm of magic is heavily missing and lacking in various ways. also, its a crime that you cant woo-hoo and make kids with Bigfoot.... He's the perfect man.

Sorry, even though TS2 is my favorite overall, I cannot agree with your term "properly implemented," regarding occults, but would refer to where some occults were enhanced, and more were made playable in TS2. Just a small detail, that does not impact on what the rest of the video might bring.
Before I watch the video, I would like to give a 👏👏 to all the occults and life states presented first in TS1, that allowed its predecessors to expand upon (as well as a few that still have yet to be brought back). In the basegame, there were already ghosts (and anyone who has played TS1 at a young age, would remember that music that played to announce them), and the most iconic of all, the Grim Reaper. In TS1:LL, pleading with the Grim Reaper could result in a Zombie resurrection (with opposite personalities), and were indeed playable. If, you have TS1:U, Miss Lucille can restore Zombies to their normal state (including personalities). Also in TS1:LL, you can use the chemistry set and get a few varied results, but most notable is the purple potion, which will turn the sim into a monster temporarily (during that time, said monster is uncontrollable, will break objects, and/or paint masterpieces at any available easel). In TS1:MM, the Beauty or Beast Charm will temporarily allow Sims to change their appearance to a plethora of life states, including many that are found in layer games (i.e. Werewolves, Vampires, Plantsims, etc.).
While the life states in TS1 are mainly aesthetic, there are additional quirks (i.e. Zombie and Evil Clone's reversed personalities), as well as some harsh consequences (i.e. turning a sim into a frog, can result in said sim being eaten by a cat or dragon), that have permanent outcomes, even though the initial results were temporary.
With every new EP, there is a multitude of Special NPCs of the other-worldly type, here is just a short list: Vicky Vampiress, Miss Lucille, The Tragic Clown, Claire the Bear, Grim Reaper, Santa Claus, Chip & Bunny the Dancers, Mime, Mystery Man, El Bandito, Henry LeStanc, the Genie, Servo, Bonehilda, Campfire Ghost, Vacation Mascot, Evil Clone, Non-Evil Clone, Frankenstein, Invisible Friend, Wally and Molly O'Wisp, Enchanted Gardening Gnomes, FlaminGoGo Dancers, Glenda & Gorden the Ghost, Someone's Mummy, Snake Charmer, along with a large cast of present and past iconic celebrities, etc.
Again, while TS1 was first to implement occult and other life states, TS2 did enhance many of them, allowing us to play with them, and to become many of them❣

If you’re playing sims 2 with vampires and you want a baby, alien or otherwise, remember that vampires do not age, time does not pass, and the pregnancy will not progress. They will be stuck at the first phase of pregnancy forever. Turn them into a regular sim, then have them bitten again.

You actually can make hybrids in the sims 4. My vampire and spellcaster sims had a baby and she had vampire needs but could also teleport to the magic world.
I may have misworded my statement when I said hybrids aren’t possible in Sims 4, but what I really meant is that they won’t work properly. A vampire-spellcaster hybrid can be born, but once they age up to teen, the vampire and spellcaster abilities menu will overlap and because of the conflict, you can only upgrade their spellcaster powers and not their vampire powers
Ghosts were actually introduced in the Sims 1's base game but only had one color and that was green no matter how the sim died also like the sims they cannot be controlled nor interacted with.

The Sims game series was a great trilogy with Sims 2 arguably being the best one. I'm glad EA and Maxis ended with Sims 3 and did not create anymore games that lack features and sold them back to you through dozens of expansion packs right?

I'm a little sad to see the difference between some of the occult in Sims 2-4. Servos and Vege Sims are much less good and impactful. The genie and zombies are not present. And the missed chance for Big Foot with Outdoor Retreat.

The sims 4 realm of magic should have given us witches. I do like realm of magic but witches have way more interesting things going on with them. Especially the whole sides idea.
