The Earth is not just orbiting the Sun, it is also orbiting the galaxy and the galaxy is moving through space; it is never in the same place.
Plus space itself is constantly expanding

That was my immediate thought when I read Snyder's plans. If you're going to make the time travel rules of your universe that stingy, you have to realize that you're immediately setting yourself up to be wrong. Classic example of Snyder acting like he's some sort of genius, when really he's just making himself look like a dumb ass.
Batman doesn't kill Joker or any of his other major villains because they employ so many blue collar thugs that without them the economy of Gotham would collapse

@Leonardo Bautista that is not the point. He was NOT like this earlier. It is clearly mentioned in the movie itself. Alfred mentions how he's turned cruel and civilians also tell "there's a new kind of mean and him. He's angry and he's hunting". All this states that batman has changed. And if you watch the movie properly then you'll realise that it's a movie about batman redemption. How he gets back to being normal. And he succeeds. Superman's sacrifice inspires him to be better and he mentions this in his final speech as well. Also, a chance of getting redemption by saving martha also helps with his ptsd as throughout the movie, he's having nightmares about his parents' death (if not the end of the world).
In the end of the movie (after he's redeemed), his final act is NOT killing or even branding lex. It is a not confusing. It is not wrong. It is human. It is AWESOME. Best character arc in a single movie (along with iron man 1)

The problem is : why is Zack Snyder trying to do a dystopian version of the Justice League prior to doing a regular version of the Justice League where we are introduced to the characters and start to actually care about them.
He is so interested in the atmosphere that characters aren't really established where the general audience really cares. Of course, some love these movies due to that, but it still leaves these comic book films more like an Elseworlds tale, instead of adaption of the main continuity.
Snyder is a cynic. WB wanted to do something “different” than Marvel. DC heroes are mostly more virtuous than Marvel characters. Put all of that together and you get a disappointing interpretation of the JL.
Snyder can’t imagine why Supes would be a good guy... or why Batman wouldn’t kill. It doesn’t even care.
I think Snyder figured that everyone already knows that standard versions of Superman, Batman and Justice League, and wanted to do something a bit different. Because that was the main complaint, wasn't it? "It's not exactly like the stereotype."

I wasn't a big fan of the Snyder films, but honestly I'm kind of pissed we didn't get to see his vision pan out. It could have been at least been interesting, and as much as I really do like the MCU, these movies could have been really unique if they just would've let Snyder do what he wanted.
Yeah, pretty much. I think the franchise would be better off that while they let Snyder complete his trilogy and leave him alone, they make their adjustments away from it at the same time with the Aquaman and Shazam films. Didn't need to bother interfering with Justice League at all whatsoever. Aquaman and Shazam have done the job of making that pivot. Didn't need to pivot with Justice League. Besides, pivoting WHILE you're making a movie is almost always a bad idea no matter what.
They did let him, tho and it sucked.

Snyder wasn’t a very good choice, he clearly didn’t understand the character of Superman, he didn’t even understand the character of Batman, like he claimed that the Batman in the dark knight returns kills when in reality he doesn’t kill anyone, sure he’s more brutal but he still doesn’t kill. The dark tone didn’t really work for a character like Superman

I think DC are struggling to live up against ‘The Dark Night’ trilogy, they need to move towards these different narratives like the darker batman so its clear cut to the audiences.
Agreed I felt if they got rid of the whole Lois Lane subplot and and Lex Luthor convoluted BullShit plan to frame Superman and the dream sequences along with the Justice League set up and Wonder Woman and also no Doomsday this movie would have been better the movie should have focused on Batman Superman more and less on Lois Lane and to an extent Lex Luthor and more than Lex Luthor and the trial of Superman I felt it should have been discussing what happened in Man of Steel specifically the destruction of metropolis and maybe him destroy a satellite as the conflict of the story Lex Luthor probably should have been controlling politics to get them on his side that he took men more then probably have Superman forced to work for the government to do terrible things which condenser set-up that means hatred of supermen not because he has god likepowers but because he thinks he's above everyone else that he can do whatever he wants without facing any consequences and Lex Luthor could probably offer him to for tonight to kill Superman or him without having to manipulate him
With how The Joker panned out, I'm pretty excited to see if DC takes a hint from it and begins to create unanimously enjoyed movies.

I watched a Zack Snyder film once, and it changed my life. Suddenly my inner eye was open to symbolism. At first, all I did was watch Snyder's movies. I couldn't get enough of them. I wept for those who didn't see the true depth of Zack's vision.
Every film I watched since then felt so hollow and soulless. Where were the subtle allegories? The intense slow motion action scenes? So I took it upon myself to re edit movies to a form that perhaps Zack Snyder himself would be proud of. I'm certainly not one who is in the same league of talent as this man, but the best I could do was devote my life to his art.
The first movie I edited was Guardians of the Galaxy. First I toned down the colors. I cut out most of the jokes. I put the Turkish Airlines logo on Quill's ship. Edited crosses into scenes to give them extra symbolism. Scenes without slow motion were given slow motion. They looked choppier because they weren't filmed at a high framerate, but that was a necessary sacrifice. Then I added blood. Star Lord wasn't some sissy. He MURDERED people. And people who didn't understand that were living in a fantasy world.
That was the first of countless movies I edited. But even then it was not enough for me. I started wearing sunglasses at all times, even indoors, even at night. Zack understands that this world can deceive us with its apparent brightness, and he declines to let it fool him. I would be the same way. The only time I would take off my sunglasses was when I looked at religious imagery and think about how it relates to Superman's timeless struggle. Then I destroyed an entire city in a fist fight with some guy who hated my dad.
Since then, I've been in a prison, drinking nothing but Granny's Peach Tea. But I know that Zack Snyder is proud of me.

I thought of Batman killing as collateral damage in the context of hot pursuit. There’s a difference between cornering one person and choosing not to kill him or her vs fighting a group in a chase using whatever’s available.
They should have built the comic book justice league up first and then tore them down with an Injustice story line and then make Flashpoint resetting things.

Batman’s whole plot line in BVS is him learning to be better again, hence Bruce deciding to SPARE (and not even brand) Lex Luthor by the ending.

Thats why he never kills in suicide squad and justice league unless you count mindless undead aliens but apparently they dont count according to most people. I just think they didnt shove it down the viewers throats by saying After his death I have realised that I have done bad things and so I want to stop killing and so noone understands his arc. I think he will go back to killing during knightmare but there will be a good reason to do so, hes also apparently teaming up with flash, deathstroke, joker, cyborg and 2 other members during knightmare so there must be something that causes him to team up with his villains.

I agree. I know BvS is flawed but I got what Snyder was going for and I liked it pretty well. Everything I've heard about Snyder's JL was going to continue the tone and story that he already set up. What I'm curious about is that Snyder confirmed that his director's cut of the film absolutely exists so now it's all on WB as to whether they will release it. I sure hope they do so that at least the people did enjoy BvS can see how that story continues. I'd pay a lot of money just to see his vision on the screen.

I'm literally just now reading The Time Machine by H.G. Wells, and in that book the titular machine can move through space as well as time, moving so fast as to pass through solid objects. So, basically, you just need to keep up with a certain part of the Earth as you travel through time to avoid getting lost in space.
About as much top level brainstorming went into that idea as everything else then
If, in a time-traveling spaceship, you go back to when dinosaurs were around, you might be so far away from the Earth that by the time you get back to it, it would be modern day again.

In defense of not killing Joker, Batman didn't get the chance in SUICIDE SQUAD, but that also begs the question why he bothered to save Harley. Probably occurred during the re-write. Apparently Steppenwolf was originally supposed to be in it too.

most ppl dont realize this which is why also if we could time travel it would be very tricky, cuz sure you could travel back in time but our solar system wouldnt be in that exact same spot in the galaxy so youd probably come out of the "time travel" in the middle of space and just die :(

Looking at Snyder’s past comments on comic book films, characters and Batman, I don’t want him doing another comic book film. There’s an old quote of his where he mocks the fact there’s a Thor film (back after the release of the first one), which is amusing now since Ragnarok almost grossed more than a filmed with Batman and Superman in. How he won’t seem to accept the majority of people didn’t like BvS and his responses to his Batman killing and really going on the offensive about that just makes me lose respect for him as a director.
He jammed way too much into BvS, having Wonder Woman, Doomsday, and a whole subplot with Lois Lane that takes up screen time than Superman. Plus, since the day he was cast, I’ve always said Jesse Eisenberg was miscast as Luthor. He’d have been a better Riddler.
There's a series of videos by moviebob, and they dissect all of BvS, and while they're all very captivating, detail how it fails, the third one, which goes into why it fails, is really eye-opening, both for understanding Snyder and the movies he makes.

I would love to see his original version of Justice League, but there are a few problems. First, you don't build a cinematic universe (with the goal to rival the MCU) using elseworld versions of the characters that almost no one knows about, that isn't a great foundation for future movies. Second, like you guys mentioned, there are problems within the movies themselves, like character motivations, plot holes, pacing, editing etc.
Basically, while these movies seem great in theory, they can't and wouldn't work as the WB wanted them to. What they should have done was to first introduce the more comic book accurate versions of the characters, build the DCEU, then introduce the concept of the multiverse with the elseworlds, what if characters.

Other TH-camrs have pointed out the problem that big-budget popular superhero movies tend to inform the public's perception of the characters, for better or worse. THIS is why you don't start out with elseworlds versions of characters, especially less popular/well-known characters like (let's say...oh, I don't know, how about) Booster Gold.
Hell, it's why they are doing it with the new Joker movie. We've had plenty of solid representations of the Joker over many different movies, and the average person just kind of "gets it." So, now they can experiment a little without messing anything up too bad.

That nightmare sequence from BvsS is so captivating and interesting and seeing what lead to that or getting more of what that world looks like would have been amazing in my opinion! A whole new Batman/superhero setting (apocalyptic) that we’ve never seen on the big screen, apart from Endgame maybe but this would have been different still. Great videos btw, love watching them!

The big important difference between the DCEU and Elsewords is that the DCEU is the first ever DC connected cinematic universe, it should be the more traditional versions of the characters, not some insane version where everyone's a ruthless murderer. Save that for down the road with stuff like the Joker movie.

I don’t think the traditional version would’ve necessarily cut it, ppl were tired of seeing the same old Batman and Superman stories so it kind of makes sense for them to change that. BUT... the edgy Snyder way also wasn’t the way to do it, killing Superman, making Batman become murderer and getting the story into Injustice territory... those are all further down the line. It would be like making Civil War AND Infinity War right after Iron Man, it would make zero sense and you would just be throwing great stories away without giving them the correct appreciation.

I would personally only do a fresh take of characters only to the characters we have seen on screen before. For new characters such as wonder woman or flash I would directly follow the comics.

A note people often skip over concerning Batman killing is the fact that this Batman was a more worn Batman who came to descend and doubt the good of man and therefore became a more rugged Batman that was willing to kill but the progression of the franchise was that from the end of the film going INTO JUSTICE LEAGUE, it would be there that he reconnected with the belief in the good of man. That’s where the character was to progress and reconnect with the nature and good of what Batman stands for.
