Ok seeing you cry over that chick broke my heart. You have such a big heart and I don't doubt you did what you felt is right for them. We always second guess ourselves in the aftermath. I'm so sorry that happened, but thank you for sharing with us, the good and the bad. ❤
Thank you so much for spending time doing this. I could have watched for hours! I learn so much and feel so much better after. So sorry for the loss of your chick's. They are so precious.
You are the most proactive person, Harli. Look at the way you care for your plants. It's not your fault that two of the little chicks died. You were eliminating possibilities and that takes time and observation. You're wonderful! Your videos are so enjoyable to watch 💖
I have been watching you for a few months now and I just have to say I love your personality!! Watching your videos really makes my day!! && sorry to hear about your chicks🥺
Hi Harli, I am dealing with a mealy bug issue on a lot of my Hoya, and I really hate those stupid bugs. Thanks once again for another great video that has a lot of great tips. I hope you are good and I hope your days ahead are great. Sending love and hugs, bye!! 😂😉🤗💜💜💜
Aww, Harli. Everything about you and your channel is great. Thanks for making these vlogs. I just love them! 💗 I hope your 2 baby chicks continue to stay healthy!
Hi Harli. I keep my Frydek in average room temp in south east window. Mine are young and growing in sphagnum moss at the moment but I don’t treat them differently than any other plant in my house and they seem to have acclimated well.
It’s so refreshing to see someone using chemicals- I swear if one more person said the only solution was to go in with a q-tip covered in alcohol I was going to lose my mind. Nobody should have time for that
Hi Harli! Another satisfying to watch video! I keep my frydek in very low household humidity (Alberta, Canada humidity= pretty much nil!) And even less because the house humidity thing is turned off for our AC unit to run. Mine really thrived under the cupboard, under one of those LED strip lights believe it or not, until it got too tall to fit under there. I have it sitting on a shelf propped up with a stick to keep the leaves from doing that leaning thing. Still use a grow light though, because I can't keep plants in Windows here they tend to get overheated or too cold. Also, she's in semi-hydro!
Great Video. I know it was a year ago, but I have been watching a lot of your prior videos since I found your channel. I think a potting table is a must for your grow tent. You've probably worked it all out by now, but a potting mat on the top of the shelf/table -the kind that the sides snap up on, might have saved all the mess from dropping down on the rest of your plants. Amazon has some inexpensive ones in lots of sizes. You do DIY too, so I'm sure you could easily make one too. My plant collection is growing, but it still is probably around 50-80 plants. I was trying to get on some kind of plant care routine and got away from it, so I will get back to it. Basically, I was taking a peek at all my plants in the morning and checking to see what needed watering or something else 2x/week. I love how you took the overgrown plants that needed some clean up, etc. and just chopped and repotted them. They look great now and you will have lots of propagations to plant now too. I'll have to watch for an update and see how they did. Plants are so much fun! I had lots of them years ago and have gotten back in them this year. Tomorrow is going to be my plant day. Lots of rooted cuttings to pot. 😃
My frydek stays in my house with the bells and whistles. The only thing it has is a grow light because I have hurricane windows and it doesn’t allow the UV rays in for what plants need. I do live in a humid climate though so that may make a difference
Hey Harli!! Then baby chicks are so sweet. I keep my frydek in a east window with average humidity I do not run a humidifier unless I notice a spider mite problem. Even then it's a very small humidifier. I find this alocasia in particular to be easy, maybe as they get old. I'm loving all your content and keep producing what you love
I have a Frydek doing well in my home office for the past 3 years. South Australian climate (like California... hot dry summers, and wet winters). I don't use a humidifier, but I also rarely run the aircon/heater for long so the humidity stays around 50%. My potting mix is approximately soil 40%, orchid bark 40%, 15% perlite, and 5% charcoal. I thoroughly soak every 10ish days (in warmer weather). Light is... not heaps bright :)
I love this type of content from you 😍😍 it’s so refreshing watching you chopping this and that 😂 because this is my style!! Would love more videos like this to hang out
I had mealy bugs , used hydrogen peroxide to water the plants, and sprayed the leafs with a mixture of 1 cup of hydrogen peroxide and 2 cups of water and 1 T. Of rubbing alcohol, treatet once a week for three weeks gone
Cannot recommend the systemic granules enough for mealybugs, I'm glad you're using them in addition to the other treatments! My 6" pot of String Of Dolphins had mealybugs for about two years until I used a ton of systemic.
In your grow tent would it make sense to have a rolling cart for repotting? Then you could move it out of your way as needed? My repotting area is a constant disaster and it's something I'm contemplating. It's heartwarming to see how much your care for your animals.
I have always quarantined all new plants in a clear bag using a systematic pesticide for a few weeks. I couldn't imagine getting any bugs on any of my plants.
Can I just say I love your chore videos. Just you taking care of your plants. I put your videos on, tune my crazy kids out and clean/ do my own plant chores lol So sorry about your chicks 😢
It’s so heartbreaking when the chicks passed, but don’t feel so bad I had one pass away lately. Ohh and you have polish chickens omg they are one of my favorite. Anyways I love your plant videos 🙌✨
Aww Harli! Don’t be hard on yourself for those two baby chicks. It sounds like the other two would have been boomed without you. You knew something was wrong and acted fast and saved their lives. All 4 likely wouldn’t have made it without you acting as quick as you did. I’m sorry for the two that did not make it, I know how hard that must have been 💕
I just woke up from a nap in which I dreamed my kitchen plants were covered in mealy bugs AND spider mites... Then I see this on TH-cam 😆A warning perhaps? Uhh I'm sorry you have to deal with these suckers!
I do keep my Frydek in the house. It gets light från a south facing window, but I live in Sweden and it's autumn so I also have a growing light från Ikea above. My Frydek is i Pon in a self watering pot. I find it to be my easiest alocasia. 🙂

Don't throw away the root section you ut the plant fro. They can grow new stems. I have an Agalaoneama that I accidentally snapped the top half off. I put that in water and it is rooting like crazy. I was about to throw the bottom part out when I put it in a new pot, just to see what would happen. Well it's growing new stems! Give it a try and see what happens.

@@ashakabeta I hear you. I do have to say though, if your collection is causing you nothing but stress, do what you have to do. As long as you're upfront about it, there are plenty of people willing to take on the salvageable portion of your collection, even with hitchhikers! No matter your decision, best of luck in all you do!!
@@HarliG Interesting! Have you tried switching the lighting conditions when regrowing from base? I've done this with many of my plants, like syngoniums, episcias, philodendrons and when I keep them very close to the growligt, right under it in my cabinet they regrow really nicely. :)
@@aleksandraz2110 ah I see what you mean, I could totally cut the plant to the base & start fresh that way! I don’t know why, but starting them completely fresh from cuttings like this is very satisfying to me haha. It’s like a blank slate
@@HarliG I usually do both - take a top cutting and (depending on the plant) single node cuttings and leave the base stem with the root system to regrow from scratch. :) Obviously, the top cuttings are the biggest, "straightest" and are the ones that don't grow wonky or look awkward, which can happen with node cuttings (especially the first leaves on philodendrons in my experience), however when I leave the pot with the base stem close to a light source it regrows beautifully in ~ 95% of the cases (even though in many of them it is a node regrowth after all). Perhaps you could try growing them for giveaways for your subscribers or plantswaps or sth like that? Maybe someone won't mind them growing weirdly. ;) I only have one begonia, angel wings is the name I think. I'm not really a fan of them, however there are 2 on my wishlist - Luxurians and the one I believe is called a turtle begonia (I forgot the name, maybe venosa?). Anyways, both don't really look like standard begonias which I think is why I want to have them. 🤣

I Love American Horror story 🤗
What do you think of the new season so far??
@@HarliG I think it's going to be good, I need to watch another episode to really get the jest of it.
What moss do you use?
Besgrow
Why do you throw away the base (with a root system attached) of the begonias? A new plant would grow out of it. :)
Because they look pretty messy when they grow back that way! I definitely prefer to start with leaves so the plant doesn’t look as awkward
WHERE DID YOU GET YOUR SHIRT?!???!!?
