I drove a 2016 GT3 RS at the dealer(way over my budget). It was awesome. It drives itself. The driver is the only limitation. The sound, the acceleration. My ride along was sweating. Brakes...immaculate. I couldn't test the cornering very well in the city. I could feel it's potential. You feel absolutely one with the car. It was spiritual.
Totally agree - I had a 16 GT3RS for 3 years and 85000km - lots of twisty roads and tract days - was the highlight of my automotive life - the only other supercar I've driven was the Ferrari 488 GTB - I'll have the GT3RS please
I've watched every single 992 GT3 RS review on TH-cam, but this is my favorite one! You find words for the feeling the car gives you and that's something I couldn't do. I fell in love with this awesome machine before even having seen it.😍
The CAR mag/Dennison review of a car like this is the only one that matters - and this is video is just as superb as I was hoping it would be. Keep up the good work chaps, the best car channel on TH-cam.
@jdenissoncars I’ve been more and more impressed with your work on TH-cam. Really enjoying your reviews. For me your blend of presenting things in a very watchable way whilst weaving in all the technical facts and figures enthusiasts need to know about is perfectly judged! Keep it up!
Love love love James's reviews. He's a class above almost everything else out there. An absolutely outstanding presenter and reviewer. Add some gorgeous cinematography and CAR Magazine have an irresistible winning combo!
I prefer the 991.2 GT3 RS - its a more rounded car and you can fit your track day gear in it. Very little difference between the 991.2 GT3 RS and the 992 GT3 RS in the real world (see motor trend data below). I also prefer the look, styling and interior of the 991.2 GT3 RS. 991.2 GT3 RS Fig 8 - 22.0 s, 0.98 avg g, 1.19 lat g, Cup2 R, braking from 60 mph 92 ft, 1/4m 11.0 @ 127.6 mph, 991.2 GT3 RS Willow Springs laptime - 1:23.67, driver R Pobst. 992.1 GT3 RS Fig 8 - 21.9 s, 0.97 avg g, 1.18 lat g, Cup2 R, braking from 60 mph 92 ft, 1/4m 10.9s @ 126.8 mph, 992.1 GT3 RS Willow Springs laptime - 1:24.30, driver R Pobst.
The nurburgring lap time says it all: 6:44.848 in the hands of Jörg Bergmeister, thats more than 12 seconds faster than a 918 Spyder...with 357 less HP. That's only 6 seconds off the street legal lap record pace of the 991.2 GTR RS MR with 173 less hp. While the GT3 Touring is the one for me with the screaming N/A engine and manual transmission I cannot wait to see what the 992 GT2 RS is capable of, imagine this chassis and aero with even more aggressive tires and suspension and almost certainly more than 200 additional hp at its disposal. Porsche, no substitute indeed.
I have experience aero grip like that in a road car. 2017 Viper ACR-E with the extreme aero package has 1900lbs total downforce available at vmax. That said, I agree the experience of an aero car is staggering. It's hard to describe but just feels nailed to the track.
I know, the 718:spyder is old news by now, but I guess the RS will be here soon enough. A truly special car, if only they’ll put a manual in it. The current spyder is a special car in its own right, though. Maybe a dual, comparison review (rs vs vanilla). Cheers
I plan to visit Europe March 2023 I want to drive while I’m there in my own US-made vehicle. I am working on shipping thoughts at the moment. Does Europe require my car to pass a specific regulation in order to drive on European roads?
You'd need to be Michael Schumacher at his very best to get the most out of this car. The rest of us just don't have the capacity to set up the suspension, diff and gearbox for each corner like that. The car just sits there and mocks us. "You'll never be good enough," it says, "but I probably won't kill you. I'll make you look like a spanner, but I almost certainly, probably won't kill you."
@@CARmagazineTV given that the best English and Californian roads often have the choppiest, bumpiest conditions, I'd bet the RS variants will have less real world speed than even the GTS series for both 911 and Cayman. Add mileage depreciation, and sadly I don't think we'll see the RS's out and about.
Have the 992 GT3 and would love to get my hands on one of these but not to be they are so in demand 😢. I could spend all the money in the world on MR and other mods on my existing and would still never come near this RS A great review ❤
My 991.2 GT3RS humbled me when I took it to the Appalachian mountains twistys! I can only imagine how much harder I can push this new one through there. Just when I thought it couldn't get any better...!
Welcome to Quantitative Tightening. With the Chinese economy in the crapper, now Prosche feels the need to redirect allocation to the U.S. At no time did the demand for Porsche product line fall off in the U.S. Now all of a sudden we are important again. This is how you treat a customer becasue it's a one time transaction. The U.S. marekt consist of Clients that a company like Porache needs to build relationships with Clients because we do repeat business, give referrals, and never ask for discount because we know their are no free rides.
The pattern is clear by now: 2 weeks after the launch embargo, CAR arrives with better content. A sublime car, obviously, but you’d need to be one hell of a driver to get the most out of this on Spa or the Nurburgring…

Is this the best 911 GT3 RS ever? Let us know what you think...
If this is what the GT3 RS is capable of, then imagine the upcoming twin-turbocharged GT2 RS....🤔
They’re not making the 2RS
@@brooksjtony why would they not make the 2
@@Moakmeister I don’t know. But that’s what we are Led to believe. The 992.2 generation is apparently hybrid

Why is the RS cheaper necessarily than the regular GT3???
Have you watch Stevie Sutcliffe's review on this car?

I wonder what a GT2 RS would be like in this generation 😮
Nice to see the side decal, as long as AP is alive, that decal will remain. The 2016 is absolutely incredible, this will be super incredible!!!
Best review of the RS on TH-cam and James is the best reviewer on the net at the mo 👏👏

Probably the best Drive to, then thrash round a track and then drive home car ever...👍👍👍
Great video and review. 👍
Thank you!
Nice one, James. Well done to you and the team for another great review. Keep them coming please.

Beat looking beetle, I love these series of Porsche. Was this filmed at TopGear?
I love the video! Great detail, and my dream car! ❤❤❤
“You have never experienced anything like this in a road car, I guarantee it”….brakes proceed to squeak harshly lmao
This new GT3 RS is Porsche's ethos on wheels. The continuous and relentless honing and improving upon of what they've already accomplished.
Awesome detail, one of the very best reviews, also is the car painted in the colour GT Silver or Ice Grey?
