@@Boxsterox Yeah it can but thats not the point, cars with abs require less skill than without it. Whole point of a gt3 cup is it is difficult to drive and is rewarding for those who can extract everything from it.
Watching these cars in person at COTA, and on videos like these, I’ve got to hand it to Assetto Corsa Competizione for absolutely nailing the sounds and visuals on this car! I can only imagine how exhilarating it is to drive in person! Phenomenal video and commentary!
love them both...a long, long history from the sixties to nowadays and still the 911 is able to win championchips. An evolutionary piece of automotive art and engineering knowlegde. So great!
I just discovered this channel and this video review is just another level compared to others because of serious approach which gives goosebumps. Only thing I was hoping for to hear in the end is final verdict on what are the key differences in driving those two. Keep it up and I hope to see more pro racing car reviews in future 🤝🏻
Great video. Music a bit loud too early at the end. Muffled the R’s exhaust too much. Top shelf reviewer in Mr Denison. I’ll have a 991.2 GT3 for the road and a GT3 R for my track day special 😂
Awesome video! Did you kick and scream when they pulled you out of the GT3R? JK, I would have looked for hand cuffs to keep me in, lol. The noise coming from both of those Porsche race cars is intoxicating. 🙂👍
Nice video. Small observation. Only thing that it's wrong is the "southern Portugal" when talking about Estoril. Estoril seats in the coast but mid way our continental Portugal. Portimao yes that's southern. Not to confuse anyone
Great video!!! It's cool to see how sim racing actually lines up with real life. The 911 R is much easier to drive at speed than the Cup car, but it feels a lot bigger and less responsive. To me the sweet spot of everything are Formula 3/4 cars. In the games at least they are like wearing an exoskeleton or riding a motorcycle with aero.
I consider that Porsche could make a significant effort to make their racing cars more accessible to the general public, rather than limiting them exclusively to drivers/teams competing in private events, such as the GT3 and Endurance championships. It would be an excellent idea, for example, if the brand adopted a model similar to Ferrari with its famous XX programme, which has already proven successful in providing exciting experiences for ordinary people. An interesting event that could be implemented would be organising track days every two or three months, allowing enthusiasts and fans of the brand to have the opportunity to drive a GT3 Cup for a few minutes, experiencing the adrenaline and performance of this incredible car. Although there are significant challenges that make this idea nearly impossible to realise in practice, it is worth dreaming, as it costs nothing and can inspire many. After all, who wouldn’t want the chance to drive a GT3 Cup, even if it’s outside the controlled environment of racing simulators? This experience, besides being unforgettable, could bring the brand closer to its fans, creating a stronger connection with its consumers.
I've been looking to buy a GT3 R after owning a couple of different GT3 Cup cars but they're so hard to find and get, you can't just buy them at Porsche.
I love how the FIA scrapped GTE because it was getting too expensive, and now a GT3 car is >€600k. I'm fairly sure a GT3 R 991 was in the region of €350k
You can keep the women, the yachts, the vacations, and all that stuff. This is the dream! I could do this everyday and love every minute of it! The sound of those uncut gears is a masterpiece in itself.
This car is humongous to be taken seriously for a sporting car, with electric power steering, it is pure garbage. Having to "trust the rear end" is literally the worst attribute to have in any sports or track car, and is likely related to the EPS. If a company with all the efforts toward racing performance makes a product like that, then has a steering wheel that makes saving a spin much reduced is repulsive. Still the too light porpoising front end from the inherent obsolete poor balance is laughable, if it wasn't preposterous.
The GT3RS is a poser car. The cup car is the real deal for the hobby racer. Full cage, fire supression system, safety fuel cell. And speed, lots of speed.
@@koraxi8958 idk I mean the cup car races in a one make series so Porsche could technically do what ever them want to the car the gt3rs just has more down force
There is no track a GT3 RS is faster than a Cup car. The Cup is lighter, on slicks, has more tire, more downforce, and more adjustability. Also, the Cup can be raced against other makes in International GT.
Which is your favourite? 911 GT3 Cup or 911 GT3 R?
Let us know in the comments!
GT3 R
GT3 Rawr aka Rexy
GT3 cup is much more difficult. No ABS or TC so drivers are rewarded much more for there skill
ABS can be installed on GT3 Cup

A GT3 R WON THE 2024 BATHURST 12 HR!! BRILLIANT
despite not having the outright speed, but it had consistency
@@DonLee1980It definitely had the outright speed. You could especially see that on restarts. The gap would always rise super quickly.

Starting late last year Car Magazine has seriously stepped it up in content and quality. I see it and applaud it 👏🏾👏🏾
I agree with your comment....these are some of the best on YT now.
Having raced a fair bit at Estoril, I can see this chap knows his way around a circuit. Great to see a journo with some skills 👍
Mega! Pretty handy at the wheel, James!

Too bad you did not have a mid-engine RSR 2018/19 to compare them to
Yep. That was a mental car !
Brilliant Quality Upload!!!
Out of interest, what was your lap time differences between the cup and R?
We weren’t properly timing laps but it was probably about 3 seconds.
The GT3 R looks beautiful
My guy can fucking drive. Very impressive considering its his first time in a Porsche racecar

Great video! Really enjoyed watching.

They have 3. There's the RSR which isn't even rear engined and is the fastest of them all.
The GT3 R in this video has replaced the RSR.
@CARmagazineTV did porcher explicitly say there is no 992 RSR? How do you know it just hasn't been announced?

Any considerations on making this a series? For other GT3 races such as Audi, Mercedes, BMW, Corvette etc
Minor point but i like the look of last gen's square mirrors better.
The cup gt3 doesn't rev out to 9k rpm like the normal car does it?
Still no. But then again, it's not about the revs. It's about the delivery of the acceleration.

Wonder how you even order one of those? My mom just got a Boxster GTS 4.0. Just didn't see these on the website. Lol
These are purely for racing so im sure you gotta go through their motorsport departments or their Motorsport dealers.
For cup cars, you need to ask your dealer about availability and they’ll probably connect you with another customers who’s selling.
😂
They only sell the latest Cups to those who commit to race in the Carrera Cup series.
