A friend of mine was walking to his place which goes through pitch black woods, and a bunch of these started screaming. At first he thought it's a lot of baby girl ghosts!
I just moved to a family village house which is 10 meters away from the woods, the last house at a black road in the village. Sure it is comfy and relaxing throughout the day but now that it is winter time, the day doesn't last for so long and since last week every single night a pack of jackals and sometimes a wolf pass by the house and start howling for more than 30 minutes. Last night I got waken up and stressed out a lot as I thought they were trying to break into the house. Keep in mind I live alone and the house is like 50-60 years old, I've just put some decent furniture to sleep comfortably and internet connection. My garden is 2000 square meters and doesn't have almost any lightning as well as the road to the house. Shit got me trippin hard since last night, feel like a complete puss :D
And people are convinced that jackals are not in the canis genus? Howling and barking like that is EXCLUSIVELY a trait that animals in the genus canis exhibit.
Foxes howl too, they just do it more rarely. Unfortunately, there seems to be only one video on TH-cam of an actual fox howl; the others are just misnamed fox screams.

My home was near to the abode of jackals. They howled all night everyday.
