Loren have you been for a drive in a Tesla with the latest version Supervised full self driving?? I believe afterward you would agree full autonomy is not far off. Thanks for the chuckle dude. 😂
Humans used horses for transportation for thousands of years. Thousands! There was an entire industry related to people owning horse and carriages consisting of blacksmith, coach builders, farriers, saddlers, breeders, horse traders, and stable owners. When the automobile was invented, so many people claimed they would never become popular yet 20 years later we had completely pivoted to cars and the whole horse industry was wiped out. Just because you can’t even imagine something doesn’t mean it won’t happen.
Wow. You're wayyyyyyyy behind the times. I tried out the FSD Tesla and it's a mind blowing experience. Very smooth, very controlled and seemingly, very humanlike. Although I generally enjoy driving, many people don't. From what I see, the old folks and young people prefer to have someone else do the driving. Good luck
Serious question; Doesn't this work only if all vehicles are autonomous? How does an autonomous vehicle avoid getting side-swiped by a human driven vehicle? If the answer is that all vehicles will be autonomous, what will be done to those who have purchased a car recently or any residual value in an older car?
No one has died from FSD. FSD is not as dangerous as the old autopilot software. FSD gets in accidents (no contest there), but most of them are at low speed and tesla are inherently safe vehicles. I could use FSD without intervention for 1 year and I would argue there is a 0.1% chance of me getting injured. Almost certainly my car will be in several accidents, there would be significant damage, but nothing that would get me hurt.
Loren I agree with you that the common definition of a "Robotaxi" will never ship but not for the reasons you stated. That event showing a bunch of cars on a mapped, geofenced movie set running around in circles going nowhere, is probably the ultimate implementation of the Robotaxi but just on a bigger scale. What I think Tesla will do (they have already started) is redefine the meaning of the term "FSD" and "Robotaxi". If you look on their website they've already done this probably in response to the current lawsuits over false advertising. Next they will start to blame the government regulators for the Robotaxi not being deployed. Again this is from a company that rarely if ever mentioned "regulators" while selling buggy beta or alpha level software for years for thousands of dollars a head; causing 1000's of accidents and who knows how many injuries and deaths. Now suddenly you're hearing that word "regulator" a lot when they talk about the Robotaxi deployment. Finally if Robotaxi is even released at all, it will be a lot like Waymo I think. It will run in distinct, mapped and geofenced areas of certain cities; if will be NOTHING like the expectation of FSD going everywhere. It will have LADAR, Ultrasonics, Cameras; basically all those sensors they pulled off the regular cars and then some but it will have super limited range of operation which they will blame on those evil government regulators. I am NOT anti-EV; as matter of fact I am on my 3rd EV including Teslas but speaking as someone who has had FSD, almost hit street islands, drive on the wrong side of the road after a left turn, run a red light and hit a rock in the road so bad that it caused $1400 of damage that I had to pay for; there is no way hell this stuff will EVER work unsupervised.
HERE'S ONE. I've had 2 family members on 2 separate occasions "murdered" by drunks!! Imagine either my family members car or the drunk/murderers car outfitted with an FSD system "overlooking" their shoulder and since the system by nature has "self preservation" to avoid accidents one of those vehicles would have automatically overridden the driver way, way in advanced and swerved avoiding the head on collision. As good as you might be at driving you might want an "additional" system that can see what you don't and take action way in advance to avoid such situations.
When the model 3 came out, I put a deposit on one and was going to pick it up, but had second thoughts. I asked about leasing it and the salesmen said you can lease it, but there's no buyout option because Elon was going to take all the Model 3 leases back, retrofit them for FSD taxis. Wonder what happened to that?
This is a great reflection on how haters vent their fears about Tesla, technology and Elon. Every single time this sentiment has eventually been proven silly and just wrong. This same sentiment was said about everything Tesla has done. On top of this, there are some plain lies and Loren has not presented them but instead just spewed his distain.
You make some good points around regulators and how passengers might think. Also edge cases, sensor suite and others you mention. having said all that, I think you're going to be wrong. I expect all of these things to be overcome. Not quite as fast as Mr hype himself, Musk, would have his Fanbios believe but nonetheless, a "Robotaxi" will ship. it won't be as he claims for customers to buy it tho, it will be Tesla-owned. He will blame regulators & insurers for this change, which might well be true, but its something he knows already. Tesla is using their drivers as ginny pigs as we know, and ultimately will retain the data for thier Robotaxi's. However, 2~3 years after shipping, and assuming all goes well safety-wise, tesla will open up private ownership. The problem being, no one will be able to compete on price with Tesla's own fleet. Of course some people will still own cars, even petrol ones, just significantly less than do now. Maybe less than 50% of private sales now in advanced markets (US, Scan, Western Europe by 2035 Excluding Robotaxis) The very limited rollout of these will start probably near the end of 2026 earlest & then just keep growing in stages as the tech, regulation and production allow. Common place in 2030 I'd guess, that gives them 6 years. After which, maybe you will be allowed to buy one.
When you are proved wrong, promise never to show your face on TH-cam? " Can you imagine ever getting into a plane flown by autopilot, even land (ILS D) by itself? "
This was a strange vid. You did make some partial points. Sometimes I do enjoy driving but other times particularly on long boring highway trips or when I have to read some work material I really wish I had a personal driver to drive me around. Also I dont think that there have been zillions of accidents and deaths with self driving vehicles.
DUDE, YOU'RE MISSING THE BIG PICTURE. I like driving too. Open your mind...What about the millions of elderly people who have their licenses revoked as they age out who can still have their freedom with an FSD car. What about the guy who has to buy "3" cars for his 3 teenagers that can now buy 1 car for them tall o share because it drops one off and comes back home for the other. What about the parents who work hard all week and would love to go to bed early on a fri or sat night, or maybe finally get to sleep in on a Sat or Sun morning for a bit, or maybe stay up late and have a couple drinks but instead have to stay sober because they got to go pick up their teen across town from their friend house, or part time job, or little league. Soon they will be able to summon Tesla to automatically go pick them up or drop them off for them. Imagine the old folks home buying a fleet of Tesla's that their residents can share to go shopping, the doctors or go see the grandkids. Every pizza shop would buy a fleet Tesla's to deliver pizzas or other food goods.
YOU MUST HAVE Missed "the Whole Mars Catalog" yutuber where he has a gopro in his Tesla and doing "real" world", and "random" Uber rides for over 2 hours straight without touching the steering wheel a single time in LA. Get with the times bro. This is a lot further along than you think but more importantly, the "rate" that which the tech is getting exponentially better now that Tesla has deployed the Dojo AI Supercomputer to process the data from millions of cars daily. The last few months have had more updated and improvements than the last 5years.
I don't think it will happen as soon as Elon says, or that it will be available everywhere, but if other automated taxis like Waymo are already running in geofenced areas, with no way the passenger can take over the controls, there's no reason Tesla can't do the same. I'm not a big fan, as I believe in people having their own private cars, and as a former taxi driver I don't like robots taking jobs from people, but I am not so naive as to think that it isn't going to happen in the future.
Tesla cannot do it with the current hardware! A fully autonomous car without any human supervision whatsoever has to be able to cover all possible blind spots! Current Teslas however can't do that with the current built in hardware. They already, with exception of the CT,have a huge blind spot right infront of their bumper due to the lack of sensors, radar or camera! But that's by far not the only one!
People could go certain places where they could drive if they consider it sport. FSD does work. It needs more work but when it could displace human drivers in populated places entirely the position and status of every vehicle plus the recent vision data could make accident/fatalities rare if non-existent this means folks aren't pay for insurance or much less. People would probably think the $$$ and the no accident part trumps the right to drive that doesn't exist anyway.
Yes, I can imagine riding in a self-driving car. They're already almost there! What does self-driving have to achieve? It only has to be far safer than a human driver. If you want to drive, you can still do it. But you don't have to. If you don't have to, you can find peace without stress through today's traffic, a very welcome treat! This guy is nothing but a truth denier! Teslas are already the safest cars you can buy. Self driving will make it even better and safer!
You have way to much faith into computers... I know computers and AI and I would not trust them driving a car, at all... It can take a long time before AI is so advanced that it can safely manouver at public roads with other humans. Public roads with people is a difficult environment for AI because everything can happen, and you can not program for everything... Just look at the Waymo cars and all the trouble with them, they can for example not understand it when emergency personnel is manually directing traffic and just drive around them refusing to stop....

Here he is everyone. The man smarter than Elon musk. Talking out of his car. To address the world with his geniusness that’s made him a vast wealth of money and success as he chooses to speak from what looks like his 1990s station wagon to tell us why he’s right and why Elon and alllllll the vast current tech engineers working on solving autonomy are wrong with their advanced programming skills, mathematical understandings, high comprehensive abilities, revolutionary problem solving skills, formal educations, and brilliant revolutionary minds are all wrong and this guy in his Winnebago is right and smarter than allllll the rest of them. Go on
In China is happening, and people’s love to drive until they have to pay from $700 to $1000 between car note and car insurance, another trend is Cities are offering free rides services like “Freebee” and “Circuit” and Millennials love it, they are playing or blogging with their phones and Parents love it too because teenagers are the highest-risk group for all types of car crashes, more fatalities among them, not DUI, too many nuances to consider, if you notice car market is crashing, to drive is turning into a very expensive hobby.
With respect Sir, while your comments about the Robotaxi may be correct your comments about self driving are inaccurate. As a Tesler driver the past six and 1/2 years I have personally seen the improvement of self driving and them elimination of at least two accidents that would have occurred without the car intervening. No it is not perfect but the idea that it's more dangerous as well as your exaggeration about the number of accident,s I wish you to please reconsider your opinion.
Cities will never allow vehicles without horses, people like horses they like them. One of the biggest sports in the world is horse racing. Who is going to get into a buggy without a harness, whip and reins. Seriously I am sceptical as to the timeframe, it's definitely Elon time. People will buy (and ride in) robo cars, I would buy one and ride in it. Wealthy people have always had and used chauffeurs (I guess only poor people like driving?).
I don’t know. I don’t think everyone wants to drive. I would love to never have to drive again to be honest. I think someone will deliver self driving but I don’t think it will be Tesla.
0:30 WRONG. There are already cities that do allow this....Waymo is is already doing it. 1:00. Competitors logges 100's of 1000's of miles....Tesla has logged "Billions" of miles and 4million Tesla's on the road now are still uploaded real world video my the millions and millions of miles "per day". 1:25 Dude it's not about "like driving", I like driving too. Open your mind...What about the millions of elderly people who have their licenses revoked. Imagine the old folks home buying a fleet of Tesla's that their residents can share to go shopping, the doctors or go see the grandkids. Every pizza shop would buy a fleet to deliver pizzas or other food services. 3:15 WRONG, Already today "statistically" Tesla's on autopilot are is less accidents than dumb humans alone. Tesla's on FSD Supervised are in 6x less accidents per 100k miles than dumb humans and the FSD tech is only getting better.
autonomous cars aint there yet, but saying they never will be is absurd. further, yes, people like driving. sometimes. but not necessarily when commuting. or under various influences. and lots of driving is for work.. delivering stuff.. which costa alot for businesses. yes, people will trust a car without controls, when they are shown to work.
I wonder how many agree with you. Where do these opinions come from? For at least 100 years we have been producing better and better products because of our abilities to utilize machines to make all our devices better. I would venture a guess that the vehicle you used to record this video has a host of features that are there to help protect you and make you safer that you don’t know about or simply don’t understand. EFI, ABS ESC, AEB, LDW, LKA, etc. Quite arrogant of you to decide what is best for everyone. I agree you are entitled to your own opinion but that doesn’t mean that others agree with you. What is your skillset that qualifies you in any way to suggest that this is a well-informed opinion? I do agree that many folks enjoy driving, including me, but that doesn’t mean I want to spend a lot of time doing it. I suggest that you get ready for the new era where you store your “Driving Car” near a track which will soon be the only place where “unsafe” human piloted vehicles are allowed to operate. It is right next door to the riding stables where you keep your “Riding Horse” you ride for pleasure since horses are not allowed on public roadways. I understand that many people don’t like change, especially if it interferes with a freedom that was previously enjoyed. However, sometimes sacrifices are necessary to serve the needs of the many verses the needs of the few.
You just contradicted yourself in the first minute. You said that there’s no self driving anywhere and then you reference Waymo. Maybe clean the roof of your car and people take a little more seriously. Anyway, enjoy the attention.

Said a guy who probably said the same thing about roster, model s, model 3, model y, cybertruck…. GFY
Poor guy you must be lonely. News flash buddy it’s already happening 😂. I will save this video and respond back in a couple years.
Ppl with FSD often 'can't live without it'. This ol' drunk projecting his own depravity on to the universe.
This video is not gonna age well...🙂
Good luck
Yet there is video online posted by actual Tesla drivers of the car violating traffic laws, turning into oncoming traffic, etc...
Waymo and Zook are doing it really well in specific scenarios and cities - but yes the tesla cyber cab is a scam and vapoware I do concede that
I'll certainly hop into one when they are available, and yes I said when they are available.
Apparently "PT Barnum" just caught a 500ton rocket booster this weekend.
I am NOT anti-EV; as matter of fact I am on my 3rd EV including Teslas but speaking as someone who has had FSD, almost hit street islands, drive on the wrong side of the road after a left turn, run a red light and hit a rock in the road so bad that it caused $1400 of damage that I had to pay for; there is no way hell this stuff will EVER work unsupervised.
thank you for the thoughtful reply
Bro have you used fsd
Maybe less than 50% of private sales now in advanced markets (US, Scan, Western Europe by 2035 Excluding Robotaxis)
The very limited rollout of these will start probably near the end of 2026 earlest & then just keep growing in stages as the tech, regulation and production allow.
What people will say to make a little bit of money. Go back to your tent, throw away your cell phone and computer, buy a horse.
Thanks, I needed a good laugh today. Been using FSD for a few years now. As is stands today I'm far safer with supervised FSD than driving manually.
This gentleman will be very sad a decade from now.
Robotaxi is the future!
And you are..... who?
This was a strange vid. You did make some partial points. Sometimes I do enjoy driving but other times particularly on long boring highway trips or when I have to read some work material I really wish I had a personal driver to drive me around. Also I dont think that there have been zillions of accidents and deaths with self driving vehicles.
Bro, you are talking about a guy who catches reusable rockets in midair with chopsticks.
People like driving on the race track. That is perfectly ok. They should not drive on public roads.
Bwahahaha! Thanks for the laugh.
Lidar has been ditched by the major manufactureres. Only Volvo still clings to it.
Poor argument.
But that's by far not the only one!
people used to like to ride horses when car was first introduced..
Says there's no self driving anywhere and in the next sentence starts talking about self driving competitors......
A lot of people thought you couldn't remove the elevator operator too ... For a lot of the same bad thinking.
Reusable rockets are way harder than solving autonomy
Yes, I can imagine riding in a self-driving car. They're already almost there! What does self-driving have to achieve? It only has to be far safer than a human driver. If you want to drive, you can still do it. But you don't have to. If you don't have to, you can find peace without stress through today's traffic, a very welcome treat! This guy is nothing but a truth denier! Teslas are already the safest cars you can buy. Self driving will make it even better and safer!
Ok you would, but would you put your children in one of them?
No! It only has to a *bit* better than the average human driver. As soon as that happens collision numbers start to fall.
@@a64738 Please!! Curiously, tho, they a fine for flying millions of people all over the globe every year, not to mention looking after all our money, yada, yada, yada... Honestly!
*NO* system is *ever* going to be 100% perfect. To even think it might be is extremely silly. Not sure why I am even bothering to respond as you are clearly living in la-la land!
Dude just plucked a 200 ton Rocket out of the sky. And it did it ALL BY ITSELF. Just like my car. It drives me anywhere i point it. ALL BY ITSELF. You are just a FSD test drive away from coming to your senses. Go take one. I DARE YA.
..🤔🤔🤔.. th-cam.com/video/GXfjAArAuFc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=qaAUfOee7Y831KEM
Have you ever taken the time to take a ride in a Tesla with a current version of FSD (Supervised)?? Or at least watched videos like this one??
How many sensors do you personally use when you drive through a snow storm?
What you assume against coming autonomous cars/driving sounds like when people were riding horses and could never imagine sitting in a automobile. Back then people said they loved sitting in the saddle and having ‘full control of the machine‘.. 🤔
Hope this comment at least inspires some double-thinking. 🙌🏼🙏🏼🙌🏼👋🏼👍🏼
This video is not going to age well 😂
Love ya, but I think you’re way off on just about every point you made here. Except for him being weird. 😂
Nice seeing you. I guess time will tell.
This dude is hilariously stupid.
There have been self-driving vehicles in Foster city in California for like 10 years, Zoox
That’s what everybody said about the cyber truck!!!!!
Everybody has an opinion here's mine ? can you smell it 😂
Cities will never allow vehicles without horses, people like horses they like them.
Loren, you have no clue. But stay in your bubble. It‘s ok. 😊
Ahahaha. Is this real?
You need treatment
What about the guy who has to buy "3" cars for his 3 teenagers that can now buy 1 car for them to share because it drops one off and comes back home for the other. What about the parents who work hard all week but must stay up late on a fri or sat night and instead of having a couple drinks must stay sober because they got to go pick up their teen across town from their friend house, or part time job, or little league. Soon they will be able to summon a car to automatically go pick them up or drop them off.
It is a reality!
You are also a bit weird and scary too. I'd take the robo taxi.
Self driving cars will takeoff when the worse self-driving car is better than the best human driver.
autonomous cars aint there yet, but saying they never will be is absurd.
further, yes, people like driving. sometimes. but not necessarily when commuting. or under various influences. and lots of driving is for work.. delivering stuff.. which costa alot for businesses.
yes, people will trust a car without controls, when they are shown to work.
Sorry mate but i do NOT like to drive. And i would very much wish that my cars have no steering wheel and pedals anymore.
Just like you'll eventually eat your words .
Lidar is a fools errand.
Haters gonna hate.
You just contradicted yourself in the first minute. You said that there’s no self driving anywhere and then you reference Waymo. Maybe clean the roof of your car and people take a little more seriously.
Anyway, enjoy the attention.
I don't like driving, it's a frickin' waste of time!
Are you an Uber driver?
self driving will never work.... and then you talk about waymo. lmao
Never is a long time
What problem does autonomous cars solve really? Napping on cars, is that it?
all the wasted hours spent driving the car
can you go in a car with no horses.... etc.. etc..
How many people watching this actually race cars? People watch car racing. Maybe they will watch car racing in their extra free time while a chauffer (self driving car) takes thdm where they need to go!
why are you mad about this though
