- A reddit challenge a while back said to build a fully stock helicopter. It's taken lot of time but I've finally finished my masterpiece - a fully stock, fully functional AIRWOLF replica complete with an action montage! A lot of work went in to this so I hope you enjoy this video! :)

you know you have a badass helicopter on your hands if you here the tires squeal if it breaks mid-air.
Would love to see exactly how you built the rotor assembly for this stock helicopter; I've built them in the past and never have they been this stable.

It appears the main rotor used juno engines to rotate them.

Oh! I didn't actually know there was a general, nation-wide convention like that - good to know! Although I'm from the UK so maybe it's slightly different over here. I just took a guess - 50/50 chance :P

Doesn't appear that anyone has answered "why?" Probably the first helicopter just spun in accordance to whatever direction its engine spun, and the number of gears in the transmission. And it stuck, for no great reason.

Did you reference the actual show intro for some of those shots? I have not directly compared it but it looks like the original as I remember it. Loved the lift off our of the mountain walls too! ;-)

Hah, the rotors kept falling off this one, too - it's just clever editing to make it look like it didn't explode between cuts ;)

Maybe - you need part clipping for the custom cockpit to no destroy itself whenever the craft loads which might be a problem for some people.

Ahh, i used to love this show, the replica looks amazing.
This is just too good. I understand how it works, stock bearings and all... But how the hell is it not just ripping apart? Any time I try to make stock bearings, they just break apart :/

everyone wants that helicopters craft file... but I really want that corsair look alike craft file, I can't belive I never thought about using a front mounted engine.
tldr that's a sexy plane man.
Oh my, you're pushing all the right buttons.
For those who are interested, you CAN actually make a stock helicopter, that works like a normal one would, with all the motion coming from the propeller, you have to use the design squiddy made for his stock prop engine but you have to have more SAS modules and longer "propellers" so it can generate enough lift to get off the ground, it's very janky and I've yet to find a solid design with a proper ATRQ rotor so I just use RCS and SAS to counter the torque, but making a helicopter that works like a real one would is very possible.
