This is why I build cars alone. As much as you guys are having fun joshing, you barely get anything done. I believe work is work, jawing and drinking is for after the works done.
Wow! The piston from the white E36 really took some heat! Cool to finally see I was curious about that one haha. I really need to get into and learn more about the 24v stuff. So much interchangeability it's awesome
"Thinning the heard" that n.v. has the thick rods. Keep them around for sure. (Too bad the wrist pins are in a different place than a m54 even if they are bolth 135mm ) I always called that m54 rotaing iron block motor the "small bore s52 frank-n-motor." Just make sure to gap the rings if your boosting it. The m54 pistons love to snap ringlands. (First hand experience. )
Heres a video showing how to modify the n.v. head to take the m52 vanos.. (I know Chris already saw this one. ) th-cam.com/video/84_Z7950Jbc/w-d-xo.html
N.V. MFIDDY FTMFW!!!! Forged internals are where it's at ladies and germs. So much great new DBO content I haven't had enough of a chance to watch it all. ALWAYS look forward to watching all the new chit youzz guyzzz post up!!!! 💙 Ya fellas!! No homo. 🤣😂👍💪😉
@@DENVERBEERANDOIL Basically the same as you, M54 crank and pistons in a Z3 M52 block! With S50 cams, and keeping it OBD2 and CA emissions compliant. I finished building the exhaust last week.
I don't usually like Zack's comment bc he seems super arrogant ,but him trolling Chris as he was using the Imaginary Angle gauge on the torque wrench was pretty damn funny. I did that same thing with Head bolts once, and it didn't turn out too well plus I actually had a protractor too.
I am doing a m52b28tu from e46 (in EU came also on e36) swap to my e30. I want to ask you if you want to help me with some questions that I have. 1. Is it almost the same like the s52 swap that I watched on your yt channel? 2. I need to ride it one trip 2200km (1400 miles) I don't think the 318is radiator will be good do you have another option for it? I am doing the swap to a 87 316i e30 coupe. And also you're doing great videos with great content and explanation. Love to see this type of content.
It is very similar to the s52 swap. In the US the m52tub28 in e46 cars has a canbus system for gauges. It requires a little more work to get it to work. Not sure if an e36 harness for an m52tub28 might make it easier as we didnt get that car in the US. Also an e36 6 cylinder radiator fits great in an e30 and then you can run either late or early e30 m20 expansion tank setup.
318is radiator from the e36 serms to be the recommended go to for e30 swaps. Coolant tank built in. And its correct size. But most dont swap to m52tu / m54. Most swap iron block because the aluminum motors will warp and break head , or have already. Even with studs still inside the head. "One overheat can kill a m54/ m52tu. " M52tu is very close to m54, m52tu uses ms42, throtel cable only for limp. M54 uses drive by wire, bigger intake , better cam, bigger injectors stroker crank. if e36 had a dme to control full varable vanos , its prolly ms42? If e36 came with m52tu in europe. You need matching dme/harness / throtelbody. Ect. ) If you want m52tu. Look at m54 upgrades for m52tu. M54 is just a better swap if you must go aluminum block from 98- 2004 era. (In 99/ 2000 m52tu was in america in the e39, so its common here too. M52tub28 makes 180hp. M54b30 makes 235 hp us spec. )
The aluminum block is just not very durable, if they overheat and blow the head gasket it is very likely the threads will rip out before the head bolts reach torque spec.

Definitely agree, this was at the end of the day and I wanted company more than getting things done, so it worked out.

i agree these types of videos are great
Love the “peanut gallery” comments
I see this stroker becoming more and more popular in the future
Happy to see you work on other cars as well

Also, you CAN use that m54 cam in a m50/ m52 ..... you have to grind
5mm off the twisted splines. th-cam.com/video/DI2TFG0rNzQ/w-d-xo.html

The next swop for my e30 has to be this😍🔥 love the m52b28 and stroker will be more wild!! Keep it up💯
Great video keep it up
I have this setup in the works. Almost roadworthy. Should be sweet!
Awesome, what are you putting it in?

A dented piston increases displacement. It lowers compression. But is it static or dynamic? If you had boost... its for sure increasing displacement.

What's bad about the 330 block since they are junk? I was thinking of using one in my car.

Pro is their a kit that u can just buy am lost
How much you asking for this car when you're done?
Hoping for $15k if it is as nice as I am hoping.
Did you sell them already?
Nah, ended up keeping both of them for now
What happened to Will?
Got married and quit doing car stuff.
