  • I made these lovely little wrist pin cushions. They are so cute & easy to make. It’s not a tutorial as such (as I don’t have video editing software) but in the video I will explain how to make them yourself

    I just started back hand quilting. Wanted a wrist pin cushion. I also saw these on Amazon and thought I’d look for a DIY video. Clicked on your video and immediately knew it would be the only one I would watch. I LOVE your accent! I could listen to you all day. 😁

      I really appreciate you taking the time to watch my video and for your lovely comment. That’s exactly what I did after seeing similar ones on Amazon. They are so easy to make and much more satisfying. I always laugh when people say that about my accent as my husband usually switches off when I speak! 🤣🤣🤣

    Thank you for posting these adorable pincushions. I need a couple for my different types of pins. I’m tired of them getting mixed in my magnet. Lol! Cheers from America!

      So glad you liked them. I have a great idea for you for another pin cushion (I made it but forgot to post a video!). I made a cube one with 6 squares of fabric (all the same size). And a little fabric handle on the top. Added pockets, felt love hearts and buttons to the sides and filled it with rice. I gotta tell you, I thought sewing a cube was going to have me beaten but I persevered. It’s almost like a mini door stop that sits on my desk. It’s nice and heavy so doesn’t topple. Wish I could post a photo of it to show you

    Exactly what I was looking for! Thank you for posting this - your explanation was very clear and easy to understand, and how cute did they turn out! I had ordered one from Wish, which of course took forever to receive, but also of course, now I want another so I have one upstairs in my sewing room and one downstairs in my sewing basket lol. I have subscribed :-)

      Deborah Berry Hi Deborah, I’m so sorry I missed your lovely comment. I’ve been maxed out at work and at night I’ve been helping make pairs of hearts for the local hospital. I’m glad you found me again! I remember chatting with you previously. I loved those needle books but haven’t made any more yet. Too many craft projects in mind and not enough time 😂

    So cute! You've got lovely fabric there. You're so talented(I was going to say Crafty, but that makes you sound sinister😂😂😂😂😂) xxxx

      Moira McDonald 😂😂😂 it’s all scraps of fabric from eBay but it’s nearly all done now. I get totally obsessed with making something then move on to the next obsession. Already planning for the next thing -awaiting the supplies arriving 😂. Xx

    • @MoiraMcDonald
      @MoiraMcDonald 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's where it falls down for me. By the time my supplies arrive, I've forgotten why I bought them!😂😂😂 If you come across a video using Tim Holtz Distress Glitter, let me know. I've still not re-found whatever I bought that for🤭xxxx

      Moira McDonald you need to get amazon prime & stop buying from wish 😂. I saw a video by Tim Holtz yonks ago and tried to get the glitter blowing tool thingy but never managed to get one. Xx

    • @MoiraMcDonald
      @MoiraMcDonald 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've got Prime but I don't like amazon (psychological objection to it, that I can't explain.) I stopped ordering from Wish ages ago(I moved to Ali Express) but waiting two months for things wasn't great. I really needed a craft shop on my doorstep. Xxxx

      Moira McDonald we really need a good craft shop - not hobbycraft as they’re too dear. I really miss Craftworld. If I had a lottery win opening a craft shop would be on my list! Xx

    Can I pay you to custom make a rooster print wrist pin cushion for me as a wedding gift?

      Hi there Ryan, apologies. I’ve just come across your comment. Been locked out of my account for a couple of weeks. I don’t really make items to sell as it’s too much pressure. I’m too much of a perfectionist (a bit OCD). Is there no one that you could ask to make one for you? They are quite easy to make. I do have a few spare but unfortunately no rooster print ones! You could possibly get one from Etsy

    Hi Lisa! I'm a new subscriber, so pleased I came across this video as it's on my to do list to make one of these myself! Your wrist pin cushions are simply beautiful! Could I ask what you meant though at the beginning where you are talking about stitching the 2 circles together filling then turning inside out? Might be me being daft as only a beginner but worried the card would tear? Any help would be greatly appreciated. X Many thanks, Laura

      Laura Black hi Laura and thanks for subscribing to my channel. You would put 2 circles of fabric right sides (pretty sides) together and sew around them, making sure to leave a little gap so that you can turn it the right way out. You would them stuff it and sew the gap closed. Then you add the embroidery floss and sew on the elastic. That’s your first section complete at this point, the underside will look messy with all your stitching but the backing piece will hide this - Finally you would cover the plastic circle (for the base) with a piece of circular fabric and do a running stitch all the way around. Pull it tight and sew it closed. Then glue and sew this section on to the underside of your cushion. You wouldn’t use card to line the base as it’s too flimsy. You would cut out a circle from something sturdy, like a plastic notebook cover or an empty milk container. Alternatively, you could use just one, much bigger piece of fabric cut into a circle to make the cushion. Do a running stitch around the edge and pull it tightly (with the stuffing in the middle of course). Close it over with a few stitches. This is the same idea as a ‘puff flower’. So you’ve created the large piece with just one large circle. I’m sorry I didn’t explain it well enough or do a proper tutorial. I was hopeless at editing videos back then but I’ve learned the basics now so can hopefully do more tutorials in the future.

      @@lisaowen2930 Hi Lisa, oh thank you SO much for explaining it! I get it now! 🤣 apologies, it was me being daft. I thought the circles of fabric were pieces of card! Hence the confusion. Not at all Lisa, the tutorial and explanation is fabulous, just silly old me! 🙊 I can't wait to make my own wrist pin cushion now! Just need to source all the bits I need. 😊 May I ask what type of crochet/ lace you used for the frill around the edge? Many thanks again. X Laura

    • @lisaowen2930
      @lisaowen2930  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Laura Black I did wonder when you said card 😂. I just used cheap crochet lace - the kind you buy in the pound shop or from eBay. But the nylon type lace works better as it doesn’t fray so much. If you have a sewing machine I would recommend using 2 pieces of fabric. If hand stitching, use one - much larger circle

      @@lisaowen2930 oh dear me what am I like! 🤣🤦🏻‍♀️ ahh okay, I'll do a bit of research then and have a look. I have a clear idea in mind how I want it to look, I just need to bring it to life! 😂💕 I don't have a sewing machine so I'll do the bigger circle option. Funnily enough that's how I make my fabric pumpkins so I know I can do that! 😁🙌 thank you so much Lisa! 😘💕

      Laura Black it’s exactly like a fabric pumpkin and I actually preferred the puff flower version
