Hey Jim, you have me motivated and I think your teaching approach is great. Some of us put in a lot of time but not on working on the fundamental stuff. I have improved in the few weeks I have been playing your lessons so I know you have me on the right path and I thank you! I sense your frustration being the result of knowing that these lessons work IF we the players use them consistently. You did your part and now it's on us to apply it and get the results.
You’re the real mvp on this platform considering the bass. I didnt need volkshochschule because of you and didnt need to spend euros or anything. You’re videos are abstract but precise all the same. I love your videos!
You gotta do the work, put in the hours. Until my late 30s I just flailed around on guitar. I could play pretty good but just could get any further. Then I decided to "study", get serious. I played hour after hours after hour. For months, years. It worked, I've been playing out, gigging for the last twenty years. Repetition, refinement, regular, regimented. And all the pieces begin to fall into place. My bass playing has improved enormously since finding your channel. The biggest step forward in guitar for me was one finger per fret. I'm constantly trying to apply that to my bass playing. Great insight in this vid Jim, thanks
now understand what you mean by practice. Focused repetition, getting to the next scale, improving finger technique, keeping all the fingers down on the left hand, I wish I knew this years ago, Thank You Jim
Hello Jim, Just a note to say thanks for your great lessons. I now do this cycle of fourths exercise for major, minor and dominant scales every day. It took a while to get up to speed with the backing track at first but my technique has improved dramatically as a result. I see you also recommend the same cycle with triads - I'll try that next. Best wishes from the UK.

Thank you Jim , you're an exceptional pedagogue , i had the impression that you talking only to me in your video . ( sorry bad english , cheers from france ) Perfect as usual !!
Nice Lesson. I have been doing something similar (major scale, mixolydian scale, dorian scale) for about 15 minutes a day for the past month, I will take the challenge to increase the time.
Hi, I got question about one finger per fret. While it's practical and reasonable and fair in higher positions, in position 1 it is very difficult for me to spread the hand and keep pressed lower (namely E) string, say I play G#, that's a lot of tension on my hand. How do you go about that? My book suggests to play 3 fingers on first 2 positions before actually spreading to 4. Is that what you would suggest as well? Thank you for your opinion.
Jim, what can us beginners do to keep our left hand fingers down on the fretboard? Mine just want to keep popping up. Thanks and really enjoying your teaching in these lessons.
I saw that Professor . I am not up to speed with technology so I will try to find some help . In the meantime I will crack on with the Cycle of 4ths . Good night .
Who gave this a 👎🏻. You gotta be kidding ... This guy is the best on the internet

Thank you Jim! Not only you tell us what to practice but you show us how. And your backing track is really nice too.
You are welcome.

Also u r so epic
I’m so embarrassed I’ve been complaining for ages and it’s bc the string was too loose…

Looks like you removed the rest and the bridge cover from that Squier right? How do you like it?
Hi Jim. Thanks for making these lessons! I'm really enjoying them. Is the play-along still available? I'm getting an error when I try to access it.
The link is messed up. I will fix it in the next couple days. Check back. Sorry.
Is the website down for the play along?

Thank you!
Hoping to report back in a month :-) really slow at the moment.
speed/slow is irrelevant. Quality is the goal. Practice diligently. :)
