I love all the funk basslines on this compilation, it gives me good inspiration and positive energy thanks for the music during these unexpected times.
Sister sledge thinking of you and chic good times/or everybody dance should be there, suprised Bernard didn’t make it to this. Love every bassline you play though still :)
I play Bass and it takes me 4 to 5 days usually to pick up a groove riff, How do you find the notes to catch the groove? Like right now I'm trying to learn them by watching your fingers but you are going so fast, PLEASE HELP, you are awesome, Thanks.
All good funk tunes and you demonstrate good bass technique. I think you should do another one because are so many other great funk grooves to do. Thirty isn't enough to cover them all. I would love to hear "Glide" by Pleasure. And how about the TV sitcom "Barney Miller" theme song. Incredible bass line on that one. Also, "Whose Making' Love" by Johnnie Taylor (also The Blues Brothers).
Hello Bruno !
Si on enlève James Brown et The Meters...
You should make at least another 10 videos with bass lines from Cerrone...Bionic Boogie..Musique...Gap Band...Sos band....Voyage...France Joli...Chic....Sister sledge...Hamilton Bohannon---Kc and sunshine band....AWB....EW&F....Mtume...Chaka Khan...Change...High Fashion....Firefly.....and thousand others.
Bruno, lovely playing. You are a master, but as much as I love the jazz bass, IMO raw funk sounds much better on a P bass; especially the '58 with the maple board. The Jazz bass sounds a bit too dark for funk with both pickups on. However, try it with the front pickup on, and the bridge off. Then it sounds very good, almost as good as the P. The Jazz has several good sounds in it and is very versatile. The P has one GREAT sound that's good for just about anything. I suppose it all comes down to personal taste doesn't it, but for old school funk, to my ear, it's the maple board P, then the maple board 2 band stingray, then the 70s jazz... in that order. If it's a dark, sophisticated sound you're looking for, then it's the J all the way.
Très orienté soul ,manque Good times et chic ,sans oublier Louis Johnson "Stomp",Reach out,Give me night, .Act like you know de Fat larry band......bonne continuation c'est super.
@Conrad Nickelson I'd argue that by today's standards he is average, but that's because the bar for skill has gone up, and most modern bassists that have played for a few years can play about as well as him. Can they write as well? Probably not.
While Herbie doubles the bass line in much of the song, the "bass part" is played and co-written by Headhunter's legendary bassist, Paul Jackson. The entire song is pretty much a bass clinic. It's kinda sad you can't hear that.
Sure, you're absolutely right, I can't see any contradiction. Sorry to make you feel sad, don't bother ) The riff is in Hancock's left hand and the Tune always begins with synth bass by Hancock's left hand. And his right hand plays kinda rhythm guitar part, and bass plays kinda guitar part above 15th fret. Later bass goes down to bass. But the tune begins with synth bass in left hand of keyboard player. That's kinda signature of the tune. One of them for sure. th-cam.com/video/8Y4yf_-eQjo/w-d-xo.html
Your original comment was that "it wasn't a bass guitar part". In reality, it's one of the greatest bass guitar parts of it's era, co-written by one of the era's greatest bass players. How a song starts is irrelevant to the actual "bass guitar part".
A pickup cover that was used to hide the pickups when the jazz bass was in its early years of production, because Leo Fender didn't like the look of them. Now people use it more for familiarity or looks.
@@UndarZ thank you mister. In my opinion pickups look less offending than that cover but i grew up, knowing what pickups look like. I can Imagine people had way other ways of thinking in the early guitar days. Tyvm :)

Merci pour ces riffs
Where is Good Times from Chic ??? HAHA!
Great selection. You just given me more wishes of purchase a bass guitar.
this video...………………………………..anemic , bass playing devoid of any energy
Dynamite selection!
🔥
One of my favorite funk bass video.
I play Bass and it takes me 4 to 5 days usually to pick up a groove riff, How do you find the notes to catch the groove? Like right now I'm trying to learn them by watching your fingers but you are going so fast, PLEASE HELP, you are awesome, Thanks.
Woww nice solid bass sound. How do you set it thanks
🙏

Nice video bro and that Jazz is killing it.
Brick House. Love it!!!
CISSY STRUT!!! AND CHAMELEON!! Some bangers here. Fookin' amazing!!!
LE MAÎTREEEEEE!
Merciiiiiii
Great playing and list but I would add Boogie Wonderland and September in there sometime.
So many great bass lines! Well played as well 🙌🙌
Thanks !
Bass always the best instrument, because you need to dance with your fingers to play it
Really nice and I know there are tones of more groovy riffs out there, but what I missed is Walkabout by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Nice, anyway
BASS BRUNO IS BEST
Thanks
Very useful, thanks Bruno!!!
Thanks !
Not one slave riff. Just a touch of love.
Smooth Bass Funk I wish he played " Ain't we funky now" by the Brother's Johnson

Cool
Do you've got , magnificent seven , thé clash ??
🥰
Super classement !

🙌
Great playing!
#31 “I Wish” - Stevie Wonder
excellent just a taste is all i need..
Si on enlève James Brown et The Meters...
Who else still cant slap * cries in failure *
Don’t feel bad. Paul McCartney can’t slap and he’s one of the greatest bassists of all time.
I love it
It would be nice if you could display the bass tabulations for this playlist. Thank you.
Great riffs!
No "What Is Hip?" by Tower of Power?
I love this video.

All very very good rifs, but the funkiest bass rif has to be " Serpentine Fire" by Earth Wind and Fire. Please add it to your top 30. Great job tho!
Awesomely awesome
Loved it,!!! All I want to do is play my Bass,🎸 now,!!
I love SWAVE's "In the Future" bass line
Nice.
Awesome! When I saw the meters I was hooked :)
Should have put the Barney Miller theme song on that list, one of the best grooves out there.
Law & Order, also...
great video this is gonna help me so much with my loops
BRUNO GREAT VIDEO I WISH YOU WOULD DO A TUTORIAL VIDEO ON THESES GREAT SONGS FOR US BEGINNERS
How is there no Bernard Edwards of Chic, or James Jamerson of the Motown Funk Brothers? Their omission almost makes this list invalid.
I must of missed Louis Johnson, Mark Adams, and Stankey Clarke.
Outstanding
and that's how you play funk basslines without have any funk in it
So do a better fucking job yourself. He's got more groove than you.
Like Marcus muler

Jess Brittain I have a 50’s reissue with a maple board if that counts 👀
Totally agree.
What strings should go with that?
I use Labella flat wounds..
Yeah, the p bass and the music man are the classic funk and rock basses, the j bass is kind a jack of all trades for mixed playing and jazz of course
Change group PARADISE, HEAVEN OF MY LIFE, A LOVER 'S HOLIDAY. THE GLOW OF LOVE
Seriously
that's the bass i have. i can't wait to be able to make it sound that good. do some tutorials please. thanks again.

Nice playin', but I do not believe that Jazz Bass + Rounds are best choice for these lines. P-Bass with flats FTW.
another one bites the dust, or that's how most sound. subbed
Literally another one bites the dust got it's bass line from Good times by Chic, John Deacon is a very average bassist in my opinion
@@Rosa5311 not that average.
@Conrad Nickelson I'd argue that by today's standards he is average, but that's because the bar for skill has gone up, and most modern bassists that have played for a few years can play about as well as him. Can they write as well? Probably not.
You could've put shining star Earth wind and fire on that list but good one
thats a great bass line dude
2:47 best line
Yeah that’s what I’m talking the funk P Funk uncut Funk the bomb Parliament with Bootsy Collins in the 80s😎
Check out Glide,by a group named Pleasure . The bass line in the vocal verse is sick. You gotta hear it.

no doubt it's good to know Chameleon riff, but also it's good to know that it wasn't bass guitar part, it was Hancock's left hand.

super performance, thanks
Merci beaucoup ;)
im newb in bass but i wanted to know what that metal thing is that covers the strings above the pickups? someone knows that? (i bet someone does)
